A suppressed memory finally comes back to Clint and he remembers the time in Budapest when he’d tried to save Natasha. There had been a man that came in the last day and held his mouth open so the Russian could cut out his tongue right before SHIELD came in. He realizes the man was in fact his boyfriend from the last few months that he’d been sharing a bed with. Clint doesn’t know what to think or do about the fact that James had been the one helping that day.

Another day, another psych evaluation and being told it was likely he would never regain full control of himself. It was wearing on him, to be honest, and he couldn't help but wonder how much of a ticking time-bomb he really was, the longer things went. He was quiet as he headed down a corridor, deep in SHIELD headquarters. He only had clearance to go to his appointments and his arranged living quarters: something that amounted to little more than a cell. He knew it was all precautionary, but it didn't make him feel any better about it or about his chances, staying locked away like that.

He was lost in thought, enough that he didn't notice someone coming from the opposite direction.
