Excelling in Fantasy Leagues using Stats

So, I’m a football buff (or as Americans call it, Soccer). I ardently follow almost all of the top tier football leagues around the globe (Uhm, well actually just Europe). I particularly find the English premier league, aka EPL or BPL, really interesting because of this:

So predicting what would happen in this rather “unpredictable” league is a very daunting task indeed. Loads of people sign up for variety of fantasy football leagues; I’m personally a fan of the official one, which also happens to be one of the most participated fantasy leagues. Being a data enthusiast, I naturally tend to try to arrive at the best possible team combination with math. Yes, you heard it right; Plain ole’ Math!

Did anybody get the Moneyball reference here?! Do watch it, if you haven’t.

Okay, coming back to the point. I aim to share my methods with you guys in the upcoming set of posts. So, do stick around if you want to brag about these amazing secret tricks that makes you almost pick the nice players to your friends! 

As a start, here are some of the data sources that I usually look out for:

Official FPL API for specific details like price, points, etc

Football-data API for other data like fixtures, form, etc

So, I finally decide to add a new entry to my never ending list of “Things I do to slack off” - Blogging! Yes, I’m excited. No, this is just not another thing that I take up just for the sake of it. Okay, maybe it might be to some extent, but we all do love to read random fun blog articles every now and then, don’t we? That’s what I aim to achieve through this blog.
