“If we get caught, I’m blaming you.”
Summary: You convince Rooster to “borrow” an F14 for a late-night ride to watch a meteor shower. Rooster couldn’t say no to you as he watched you bite your lip while pleading your case wanting nothing more than to replace your teeth with his.

Prompt #34 from the list.
“Come on Rooster, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance,” you used your pen to point at the map you were holding in front of his face. “The meteor shower will be directly above the base at 23:30. What are the chances of that?” you said. Rooster stopped walking and finally turned around to face you.
You were staring at the map while you chewed the end of your pen. “So, what you’re saying is you want to steal jet from the base and take it out for a joy ride to see some rocks,” he placed his hands on his hips.
You scoffed, “Ugh no. I’m saying we should borrow an F14 for a nocturnal run and if we see a meteor shower while we are up there, then so be it,” you responded.
Rooster feigned a gasp, “you want me to commit a crime against the United States of America and possibly be charged with treason.” You shushed him and looked up and down the hallway for any possible witnesses. There wasn’t any.
Rooster looked downright amused. You slapped his chest and he chuckled. You weren’t one to break the rules. Most of the time you were stopping him from doing so. Oh, how the tables have turned.
“Hondo said he’s cool with it; we just can’t tell anybody else. Just one-time Rooster, please,” you pleaded. You bit your bottom lip, eyes wide as you waited for his answer. Rooster bit his cheek hard. It was getting harder and harder for him to resist you. He wanted nothing more than to replace your teeth with his own.
Rooster crossed his arms. “You know what I want,” he raised his eyebrows and waited, enjoying the leverage he had.
You rolled your eyes and groaned. “Fine, you want me to tell you, you’re the best fighter pilot I know,” you sighed. “Rooster, you’re the best pilot I know,” you said refusing to make eye contact. You were sure you would see a shit-eating grin on the brunette if you looked up now.
“Of course, you’re the only pilot I’ve flown with. I’d like to fly with Maverick sometime. Phoenix too and maybe even Hangman,” you mumbled.
The inflated ego Rooster was developing rapidly deflated. You heard Rooster scoff, “Hangman? Seriously?” and you laughed.
“I’m kidding,” Rooster raised his eyebrows. “Okay, maybe only a little,” you smiled innocently. He knew you’d give anything to backseat for Maverick. It was something that made his skin crawl. Even though he no longer blamed the captain for his dad’s death, he still didn’t like the idea of you backseating for him.
“Fine, I’ll pick you up at 23:00 tonight. But if we get caught, I’m blaming you.” You squealed and bounced up to hug the pilot. You felt his chest rumble as he laughed. His arms tightened around you picking you off the ground.
A few Top gun pilots walking down the hall wolf-whistled. Some even clapped Rooster on the back. You felt your cheeks heat and after a few seconds, Rooster finally set you back on your feet.
“So, I’ll see you tonight,” you finger gunned. You grimaced as soon as you turned away. Finger guns? How lame am I? You walked briskly to the women’s locker room.
At promptly 11 pm, you heard Rooster’s bronco pull into your gravel driveway. You grabbed your bag and jogged outside. Rooster hadn’t even put the truck into park when you already opening the passenger door and sliding in next to him.
You clicked your seatbelt and look up, gesturing for him to get a move on. “Come on Rooster, the shower is exactly at 23:32 tonight.” You practically bounced in your seat. A corner of the fighter pilot's mouth quirked up into a half smile. He had never seen you this excited before.
You slipped into Bob’s jumpsuit. The men’s locker room was the only changing room open, unfortunately. Rooster changing directly behind you was trying to think of anything else besides you currently stripping out of your civilian clothes behind him. The temptation to look burned low in his gut.
You unclipped the last hook to the jet while Rooster started the engine. You hurried around and unlatched the gas pump before climbing in behind Rooster. Rooster lowered the canopy and drove onto the runway.
The jet was in the air and rapidly climbing into the sky with just 2 minutes to spare. You pulled out the map from your jumpsuit pocket.
“Ok Rooster, let’s fly toward the coordinates 32.6848° N, 117.1300° W. Once we get close, face the jet 36 degrees northeast.”
“Aye, Aye captain,” Rooster mocked a solute before banking left. Through the reflection of the glass, Rooster saw you’re cheeks redden. Hmm, had he stumbled on a kink? He’d exploit that later.
You looked out for the meteors. A bit of worry crept into you as a minute passed the time you had calculated. What if I’m wrong? You had tripled checked all your calculations but there was still a chance the meteors could have veered off course. And here you were, risking not only your career but Rooster’s as well.
“Oh look,” Rooster pointed at something in front of you. You glanced up, and sure enough, you saw multiple white streaks light up the sky all. You had seen showers before but nothing like this. You squealed.
Rooster chuckled softly. He had to admit he had never seen anything like this but the fighter pilot still spent more time staring at your reflection in the glass. He loved the soft smile you held as your eyes glowed with joy. A small part of him felt smug that he was the one that had given you this.
You risked only half an hour to watch the show while Rooster cruised around the coordinates and finally told him he was good to start descending. Rooster landed smoothly and parked the jet back into its original spot all the while you still watched the meteor from above.
Rooster unlatched the aircraft canopy and climbed off. He turned back to help you down. He was just about to turn away to hook on the clips when you were suddenly jumping on him. He “oofed” and some air was forced out of him as your body collided hard into his. You hugged the pilot tight, hoping you could convey how much this meant to you.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” you said, pecking him on the cheek. Well, you had intended to kiss his cheek. But Rooster had turned his head in the last second and you had missed and instead placed a chaste kiss on his lips. You discovered that his mustache was surprisingly soft and you had no idea what to do with that small revelation.
You gasped pulling away quickly. Rooster hadn’t had time to properly respond as he tried to regain his balance before you were already climbing off.
“I- I... I’m sorry about that,” you stammered feeling heat crawl up your neck. Rooster looked stunned. “I meant to kiss your cheek, as a thank you.” Oh god, why couldn’t you be normal? “Thank you for flying me up,” you stepped away as you said it. You cringed at the amount of ‘thank yous’ you were issuing. “I…This meant a lot to me, Bradley.” Your cheeks were downright burning now. You looked away from the fighter pilot to try to hide your embarrassment.
Rooster finally snapped out of his trance as he felt a shiver run down his spine. You had never called him anything other than his call sign. The way you had said his given name felt almost intimate. He’d give anything to see how far down your cute blush went.
He stepped closer to you and leaned down, his face just inches from yours. He placed a gentle finger on your chin to tilt your face to his forcing you to look at him. This close, you could see flecks of gold in his brown eyes that were swirling with an emotion you couldn’t place.
Your eyes widened when you saw him glance down toward your lips. You stood there frozen as you watched him close the distance between you two.
“Did Cyclone give you two permission to be out here at this time?” You jumped at the sound of Maverick’s voice. Oh fuck, you were screwed. “If not, then don’t you think you two should take this somewhere else?”
You turned around to face the captain ready to apologize profusely and plead for your job. But the words died on your tongue as you saw Penney, a civilian, standing behind the captain sheepishly waving her hello. Both were in jumpsuits. It seemed like you weren’t the only one that wanted to see the meteor shower tonight.
