The butler you are
idiotic...... or genius!?
What helps you push through art or writers block?
Cut Down Time Spent on One Thing
My friends are amazed at how fast I can get something done. Each piece represents a pocket of time and getting something done quickly gives me that hit of dopamine and pushes me to keep going. Make sure you know what your limits are. When I began, my art was really simple and took me a long time to do despite it's simplicity. I built on top of that experience so I can get more done in the same amount of time. I won't need additional blocks unless I am invested in refinement [mainly for big projects, zines, special events].
Don't Be Precious
Every piece you finish is a stepping stone. The piece you're working on now is not your masterpiece. It may be really good and you see amazing potential in it and you love the concept so much it'll drive you crazy, but hyperfocusing on it like that will put it on a mental pedestal. Now every word choice matters. Now every brush stroke counts. The colours, the paragraph ordering, even the title needs to be absolute perfection. You're zoomed in and now you've lost motivation because its taking you forever and your brain keeps making ideas that you feel like you can't do because you havent finished this. I have trouble with this myself. I keep going back to improve on it, edit it and so on, and that Costs Time; Time I could be using to make other things; other things that may actually be the step that let's me make a masterpiece someday. Love your art. Don't be trapped by it.
Evaluate Your Motives
Ask yourself why you're doing something. Sometimes I talk to people and they express sadness and anxiety and dislike about their own work, prioritizing the reactions of strangers and their hypothetical audience over the story they're trying to tell. I do love making things for people, but when you create for someone other than yourself, that becomes an obligation and obligations can hurt creativity. Consider yourself your primary audience and you are trying to win yourself over. This is true of art as well. Why are you making it if it doesn't bring you joy? Sometimes this is an indicator that you might need to move on from a concept. Sometimes you need to just get your foot off your own neck. I specialize and try not to make too many things that aren't about my direct interests [dialuci] because my motive in fandom is to find like-minded people to enjoy things with. You can extrapolate this advice into non-fandom stuff too.
The Courage to be Disliked
In the midst of your creating, you might experience negativity or possibly even harassment. Nothing blocks creativity more than seeing some absolute bullshit. You have two options: get away from the negativity... or just keep doing the thing you're doing. The reason why some people Waste Time with fandom wank is because they don't spend enough time creating and loving their own concepts. If you follow this advice, your page will be full of proof that your concept is loved. Go through the process again. Evaluate your motives, don't be precious, and cut down on time spent on one thing. I won't destroy myself to appease people who don't like me and neither should you.
Pic 1: “completed piece” XD.
Pic 2: Simple completed piece. Pic 3: Completed piece with hours of deliberation. Pic 4: Rendered Sketch using skills I learned from finishing piece 3. (Note the time spent)
Link to my original Reddit post: "[...] I wanted to show what the difference of three years can make. This is why I chose the concept of DiaLuci kissing, because I have drawn at least one kiss per year I’ve been in this fandom and it provides a baseline for comparison for each of my pieces. Though it appears that each piece took less than two hours to do, what you don’t see is the amount of time I spent thinking about them, the colour choices, the decision paralysis, the dislike for the whole thing. Nonetheless, I persisted because I love them very much. And it really takes drawing the things you love over and over and over to see how far you’ve come."

Any other Gen AI BEGONE!!!! EXPLODE! ABSCOND FROM MY VIEW!!!!
Mini print here, if you hate AI (outside of caine) as much as I do
Grabbing people by the scruff of their necks and shaking them. You know Jax being a terrible person was the point right. That she pushed everyone away despite having all the opportunity to be better.
It's meant to be tragic. That even after all that she realized she wanted to change as her last words and thoughts. She didn't want to go.
It's okay I understand this is baby's first nuance.
hear me out friends..... roller derby au shep. publish post.

Ever think about how technically the younger brothers are more scared of Mammon than Lucifer?
I swear this is canon, listen
Lucifer's sadistic. He's easily angered, and he always retaliates. And he makes sure his retaliation always takes the form of cruel and unusual punishments. His brothers are scared of the consequences but they're never scared enough to actually stop
Mammon, on the other hand, is a pushover. He doesn't hold grudges, and his bark is so much worse than his bite. He instantly folds if someone aplogises after wronging him, and usually, he'll even apologise back despite not really doing anything wrong. Mammon's usually also part of whatever shenanigans the others are doing
And in spite of all that, the younger brothers all keep pushing and testing Lucifer. They're constantly doing things that they know will piss Lucifer off, and no matter what he does and no matter how much the younger brothers don't want to face the consequences that's never going to stop any of them from continuing whatever they are doing
But with Mammon, in the handful of times we've seen his younger brothers genuinely anger him, they stop or retreat instantly. Hell, there's even a moment in Nightbringer where Belphie is willing to keep pushing against Lucifer but instantly backs down when Mammon gets in-between them and tells him to stop
And y'know what? It's the Strict Teacher vs Fun Teacher thing. The Strict Teacher is always going to be like that, you know exactly what to expect when you piss off the Strict Teacher. Meanwhile, when you finally manage to piss off the Fun Teacher you know you've Fucked Up™
harpyknightgirl alter that figures out what kinda bird she is before name (american kestrel)
kestrel is a really awesome bird because it's like what if a peregrine falcon was 2 inches tall but still could not stop killing ever she just kills and kills and kills like what if you needed a falconry harness the size of your index finger
- she smells like cherries and cigarettes- 🚬🍒
Saw someone post this on Twitter and thought It was a joke but???? Lmaooo
when did belphie and barbatos have a baby
when did mammon and solomon have a baby
'minion' -too closely associated with those yellow things
'goon' -linguistic drift gave her a new meaning. i hope her new life is good for her. i miss her.
'henchman' -too gendered. can be shortened to 'hench' in a pinch, but lacks punch.
'servant' -too domestic to apply to all those who serve evil.
'underling, subordinate' -this one only works if they get off on being beneath you and/or you don't properly pay your workers.
'associate' -this one's good for grizzled mercenaries or lone agents but doesn't work good for broad swathes of an organization.
'slave' -same as underling but more intense. really fun for some of the group. unsavory for others in a way that limits the scope of the thing.
'thrall' -only really applies if you're brainwashing them and that's not something i've learned how to do en masse yet
'flunky, toady, stooge, lackey' -these are just insulting, and that isn't conducive to a healthy work environment. imagine going to work and your job title is 'stooge'.
'acolyte' -works for those that worship you, but again. lacks the scope.
'supporter, follower' -unspecific and vague
'assistant, helper, aide' -not sinister at all. just means you're doing things for me. swagless in this manner. could be good if used to describe someone who's so clearly more that as a way to emphasize their obedience via understatement, but that's only useful for a few members of the organization. and even then, 'associate' works better.
'cohort' -untested in the field. suggests an equal footing in the affair, ideal for post-structuralist evil organizations with a bottom-up power structure that's held in the hands of the evil workers themselves. perhaps we'll explore it together?
may I suggest: 'grunt' – time-tested by crime bosses with a variety of goals and organizational mandates. implies a subservient position with none of the innate baggage of lackey et al.
GRUNT IS PRETTY GOOD

due to popular demand on TT I've finished it :)
