It’s such a sad state of affairs that this list is so dang long. And this only covers the gamut of what’s been going on in TS4′s time!

TS3 has fortunately managed to exist relatively unscathed by such predatory monetization practices, with a few notable exceptions (Adfly, EA’s Store, SL scandals, T$R, etc). But Electronic Arts’ infernal powers have corrupted not just TS4 (its most recent cankerous growth), but the larger gaming world as well, as they’ve not only turned a blind eye to the racketeering going on under their own roof, despite their own EULAs, but also encouraged, endorsed, and participated in unethical monetization practices–”surprise mechanics” loot boxes, microtransactions, gambling in sports games advertised to KIDS, etc.

Within The Sims, the fight against paywalled CC and paysites has been ongoing since TS2, and all the strides Pescado made with PMBD/The Booty, so that this type of behavior wouldn’t be normalized. But Patreon’s pervading every inch of the internet, to the point that people are monetizing NONSENSE just because they can.

Simmers are absolutely right that Patreon’s sucked the fun out of simming! I don’t even bother looking at TS4 CC anymore, cuz I know 99% of the links are just gonna take me straight to a paywall, and EFF THAT! I hate commercials & ads, cuz they’re always tryna sell something, and it’s no fun to be under a constant barrage of hockers peddling their junk when I just want to enjoy my game, or show, etc. Y’all use adblockers and adfly skippers to avoid all that crap, right? Well, where’s the Patreon skipper button? Cuz now we’re being preyed on in the Sims, and it’s completely unacceptable that things have been allowed to get this bad!

But there’s a sucker born every minute, and a capitalist leech under everyone’s bed. So long as there’s no regulation of this neoliberal hellscape called the free/open market, what kind of protection will there be to keep people from being taken advantage of and charged for things that should be free? Today it’s video game CC, and streamer/Youtuber content, but tomorrow we could be charged for the very air we breathe, as people say, “Who cares if it was all free BEFORE, you’re gonna have to pay NOW, because that’s just the world we live in~!” 😈💸

Things Hilda Spellman has done this season:

1. Told her crush that she liked him and when she found out that he had an incubus inside him, her reaction was “ i can control that no worries”.

2. Killed the bitch that was slut shamming her sister by inviting her to tea and poisoning her delicious almond cookies. Also gave her sister the idea to plant a maggot inside her head to teach her a lesson.

3. Trapped a ghost like it was just another errand on a saturday.

4. Saved her nephew’s life by manipulating the weird sisters that they should throw him the chicken bones (that was hella cool).

5. When a hunter came to kill her, she just released her boyfriend’s demon cause she thought that it too small for her to deal with.

6. Was there for her nephew and niece when they were going through the worst time of their lives and helped the academy when the hunters came. Honestly, she was Ambrose’s rock.

7. She did it all alone because her sister fucked off with Blackwood but never once complained about her situation.

8. Told the high council to fuck off inside the church.

9. Killed the main member of the council because he got handsy. Also served him stale cookies because she didn’t like him.

10. Knew straight away that her sister was under a spell.

11. Saved half the coven from dying.

Aunt Hilda is a certified badass and needs to be recognized for it.
