Once upon a time, in a forest far, far away, there lived a couple named Marcia and Marie. They were forest witches, dedicated to keep their forest safe from the malicious humans. The humans were destroying it for their own gain, thinking nothing of its needs and requirements for growth.

The forest had been sick before Marcia and Marie started, and they feared it would grow sick again without their protection.

They couldn’t destroy the humans, for there was only two of them, and the humans had multiple villages.

They had the magic on their side, but the humans had the monsters - the metal beasts, eating anything that stood on their way and being resistant to most of their spells and potions.

Therefore they decided to have an offspring to carry off their legacy.

I have a dumb idea: Fic Wars

Ok, hear me out: Two authors. Ten chapters. One fic.

Two genres.

Each author gets five chapters, interwoven. (choose who starts, the other gets to end)

Each author also gets a seperate, completely opposing genre or trope.

They must respect the fiction of all previously written chapters. However, during their chapter, they must, to the best of their writing ability, wrench the story out of its previous genre or trope and back into theirs.

I just want to read a story that can’t decide if it’s a college AU or a Pacific Rim monster slayer. Half romance, half murder thriller. Half law procedural, half sitcom. Half Harry Potter au, half medical drama.

This is a dumb idea.

Danny was pretty sure that was the worst year of his life.

His freshman year of high school felt like a nightmare, one even worse that Christmas at his place.

He never got particularly good grades but he always managed to get decent final mark. This year however?

Math teacher could’ve been speaking Chinese and he still would’ve understood exactly the same amount of info- big fat zero.

English? You’d think he would be able to string a few sentences together. His grade showed that no, he apparently couldn’t.

And let’s not even get started on PE!

In short, that year sucked. Objectively sucked.

He was sure it couldn’t get any worse, and that’s why he let his guard down during the summer.

Which appeared to be the biggest mistake of his life.

First of a long, long string of grave mistakes.

I don’t expect anyone to read this cuz it’s pure crack for me and @malinche‘s amusement, but we’re collaborating on a fic wars story. 

Her chapters are a frat house college AU.

My chapters involve Noctis + co getting transported to a post-apocalyptic Eos and being thrown into increasingly ridiculous fantasy tropes. 

I mean, if you want to know how seriously I’m taking this:

“Dude, it’s a motherfuckin’ dragon!” Prompto yells, and he’s running, grabbing Noct’s hand and pulling him to his feet. Noctis stumbles and Prompto trips in the loose sand, and they almost go down, but Noctis catches himself. They take off running, as fast as they can, barefooted and mostly naked.

IT’S A MOTHERFUCKIN’ DRAGON!!

“What’s this?”

“Your order, duh,” Lance retorted, rolling his eyes in the process.

“I asked for coffee,” Keith explained. The drink currently in front of him was frothy and sweet-smelling, which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it was for sure not what he had been expecting.

Lance shrugged.

“Yeah, but you didn’t specify in what form, so I took the liberty of whipping up one of my specialty lattes.”

Keith frowned down at the drink, twisting it around to better inspect the design that had been created in the foam.

“Why’d you draw a dick in it?”

IT’S HERE! THE FIC WARS!!

Starting it off we have a very lovely werewolf au, featuring local punk boy Keith, which would pair quite nicely with a grande Pumpkin Spice Latte perhaps? Served by none other than…wait..that’s for @watsonthebox to decide ;)

Here’s a teaser to the chapter:

Waking up in a strange place was never a great way to start the morning.

Waking up in a strange place with a pounding headache didn’t help matters.

And waking up in a strange place with a pounding headache and a severe lack of clothing was just adding insult to injury.

Granted, Keith had been in similar situations like this before, but those, for the majority, had involved a bed beneath him, or at the very least a couch, and his foggy memories from the night before could usually be accounted for by the heavy use of alcohol.

But as unfavourable as it was to wake up in such conditions, feeling the colossal weight of shame sit uncomfortably in his gut as he rubbed sleep from his eyes, Keith could at least sneak away from whoever’s bed he had made it back to, and pretend the entire night hadn’t happened.

This time, he didn’t think he’d be so lucky.

Where the fuck am I?

An acceptable first thought to have upon realizing he was not at home in the safety of his own room. It was usually accompanied by: Who the fuck is that? , but as Keith looked around at his surroundings, he registered that he was entirely alone.

Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…

He would decide later. First, he needed to find his clothing.

Do you know if the Voltron Fic Wars is going to be running an event like the Kingsman Fic Wars is? (I'd ask over at the VFW blog, but their ask box doesn't seem to be working.)

The admins of Voltron Fic Wars have decided to hold off on starting the event for now, just because the Voltron fandom is absolutely pakced with events at the moment. They are still planning on running it, but just a bit later.

However, if you have a partner, you are welcome to do your own project and I can list it here!
