Agree so much with this.

When I let myself sit and play a videogame all day on the weekend, the day vanishes. One minute it's 10am, then the next time I take notice of the time it's evening and I feel like no time has passed.

Yesterday, I alternated sprints deep-cleaning my apartment with sitting and playing the same game whenever my body needed a break. The day seemed to last 10x longer, I got a SHIT TON of cleaning done, and got enough time playing the game to feel satisfied with my progress in it. And, bonus, I slept like a baby because I was the good kind of exhausted.

The Ao3 account is so damn considerate. Like they post multiple warnings and even suggest to download fics to tide us over because they know we are little trash goblins that can’t survive 10 hours without our delicious fandom sustenance.

Everytime ao3 is down I'm reminded of two things:

One is that humans have and always will love telling stories, and they will continue to do so even if there is no benefit to telling these stories, but simply because we love creating things

The other is that a concerning amount of people use fanfiction as a form of escapism and we should probably look into that

i think theres this idea in the general public that the "best" fanfic gets turned into real books like 50 shades of grey. but the truth is that the best fanfic can never be published as an actual book because its intricately woven into the canon material so its inseparable even if you change the names
