I'm writing a Raph/Mona Lisa fic and I was struggling to remember her characterization and what it was that made them click. So I was doing a quick search to find the 2012 TMNT episodes she appeared in for the purpose of rewatching them, only to discover something interesting: Mona Lisa is not a character exclusive to 2012 TMNT! She was originally created for, like, two episodes in the 1987 TMNT, and she's a more prevalent character in the IDW comics than she was in either of her television interations! According to the wiki for the IDW comics, she's more of a Donnie love interest (feel free to correct me, I haven't read them).

This is when I remembered one of my cardinal rules of writing fanfiction: Everything is made up and the rules don't matter! I can do what I want! I'm gonna make an afro-Latina salamander mutant who likes lucha libre and Jupiter Jim, and nobody can stop me!

TL;DR: If the creators of every new iteration of TMNT can treat Mona Lisa like an OC, then by god I'm going to do the same.
