I can’t express to you how little I care about It being “queer history”, because every bit of queer history has scrubbed trans women out of it. Oh, it was historically accepted that trans men were a kind of lesbian? Why is that? Did they also accept trans women as lesbians? No? Funny how that works.

It’s historically important that we allow drag? Why is it that making fun of trans women is important to your history? Oh, it’s ok to look like a trans woman as long as it’s a costume and you take it off after? So what happens to the people who want to look like a trans woman all of the time? Oh, you pushed them out and they ended up homeless? Funny how that works.

These appeals to history don’t make you sound like you care about queer people. You sound like a conservative. Do you want to make queer spaces great again? Just make sure you exclude every trans woman just like you used to and then everything will be ok.

Very rapidly, there's not a place in Canada where me and my husband can go where the potential for our health care is to remain a legal right. We will kill ourselves without it. As gay trans men, me and my husband are at a far higher risk of being killed. As a black and native man, I'm at a far higher risk of being killed. As a black and native TRANS man, I am at a far higher risk of being killed.

I don't fucking care. You can't tell people how to identify. That's the end of it. You are not them, you do not know their feelings and experiences, and it does not matter. People can use whatever they want for themselves period. A queer person using an unconventional label or using it "wrong" does not make bigots hate us more. They have and will always hate all of us, and you cannot blame the oppressed for their oppression.

Put that effort, that care, all that misplaced rage towards fixing shit that actually KILLS queer people. Don't fight against us because we use a word you said is off limits.

You know who else claims that "x group can't use x term"? TERFS. "Men can't say they're women; women can't say they're men."
