how did Marissa give u a cold shoulder
It wasn't that she wasn't nice. It was more like she didn't seem open and warm up front. I don't mean that to say she was rude. In no way was ANYONE rude, at all! She could have been tired or preoccupied or just wasn't really feeling the post show meet and greet. There weren't a lot of fans and that can suck energy sometimes. Especially since they had two days off as soon as they arrived in St. Louis. They were probably ready to get out of Iowa. 😝
An important perspective in light of recent events.
Watch this.
I. FUCKING. DANCED.
It was clumsy. It was off. The whole version is clumsier, trust me!
But every damn second was AH-MAZING! I smiled through the whole entire hour! I’m teary just thinking about how amazing this felt!
Don’t get me wrong… In the 7 weeks since I started going to the hip hop class, I haven’t missed a night. I’ve even started watching tutorials on YouTube and working on learning more and more… It’s been so fulfilling to do these things with my body and not get discouraged. It’s fun and I work so hard and I keep seeing my body change.
This? This filled my soul.

Healthy Mind, Healthy Body By Lisa Brandos [Trigger Warning: Eating Disorders and sexual abuse/assault.] The first three paragraphs of this post are from a piece I wrote in my Creat...
I wrote this for Girl Body Pride while I was still in the middle of my #30days project. Please read it and please give some love to the lovely site that is hosting my work! Thanks!
The latest. Sadly, I strained my adductor during class learning that spin to the floor. :(
more dancing
I’ve seen so many ‘reblog if you hate your body’ or 'reblog if you think you’re ugly’ posts. And you know what ? No. The notes are heartbreaking and I’ve had enough .
Reblog if you believe in loving your body. Even if it’s a work in progress or you can’t do it just now. Even you’re frustrated by your own limitations, even if you feel like it turns on itself more often than not. Even if no one else says you should love it, especially if no one else says you should love it.
Your body is beautiful. You are beautiful. Believe that. Know that. Reblog for THAT.
i think this is hilarious.
A reply:
1. How about you learn to aim? If you can write your name in the snow, you can make it into the toilet. While we’re at it, when you drip, clean it the fuck up.
2. I’m so glad! Now I don’t have to feel guilty for almost never thinking about you. I’m usually thinking about my school work, how to make sure my children have a good day at school, learning a new skill, and figuring out how I can say “not tonight,” without lying about a headache. Again.
3. Please go watch your sports. At a bar. Where I don’t have to listen to you yell at the TV. Don’t forget to call Uber for a ride, and when you get home, I definitely don’t want to sleep with your drunk ass.
4. A real man cries. I guess I’m more manly than you. (of course, I knew that already)
5. Right back at’cha. I’m no mind reader. And if I can infer your meaning with hints, you can bet your ass that I’m purposely not going to do whatever you want.
6. I don’t either. I put it in my phone’s calendar and set a notification. Does this mean I know how to use technology better than you?
7. Except the question “why?” Like, “why do you think your list of rules is funny?”
8. I can solve my own goddamn problems, thank you. How about you do your job and support your partner? Sometimes that means listening to us bitch. I mean, if we have to listen to you talk about that new video game, or whether the AL or NL will win the next World Series, or why Iron Man is better than Thor, or your Rocky Balboa impression for the 500th time, you can listen to me talk about my problems.
9. I’ll check my oil when you call a repairman for that thing you “swear I can fix” and then break.
10. Yeah, and that thing you asked for a few weeks ago for a special “birthday treat” (which isn’t for two months) is also inadmissible. I mean, after 7 days any kinky request you had is null and void. I didn’t want to do it anyway.
11. In the words of the queen herself, Nicki Minaj, “you loooooove this fat ass!”
12. Same. And please, let it go already!
13. Oh, don’t worry. We look too. It’s just as genetic for us. I probably look more than you.
14. If you’re still paying for television with commercials, I probably don’t want to talk to you.
15. Well, he was looking for Asia and found the Caribbean, soooooo.... yeah. Pick another role model. Just use the damn GPS. I mean, you’re already paying for way too much data anyway, you might as well use it.
16. Peach and mauve are ugly anyway.
17. Now, I know you’re just a man and don’t understand redundancy, but you should see #5.
18. Good. Because I probably don’t want to talk to you. You’re kind of an asshole, as you’ve demonstrated in every “rule” above.
19. You have enough video games/beer/movies/channels/baseball caps/cargo shorts/pens/box knives/comic books.
20. See above re: “enough” and replace with “too many.” Again, redundancy is strong in you, and annoying as fuck.
21. Like, the ones in the magazines? The ones that tell us how to be better at sex for you? I don’t read those. But maybe you should pick up a tip or two about generosity from those tips....
22. Purses are bulky. And unnecessary in 9/10 social situations. I’d much rather drink beer, if it’s a micro brew and doesn’t taste how your bathroom smells when you “didn’t notice” that you dripped down the side of the bowl.
Apparently David Young, the 3rd District Congressional representative for Iowa (and my city of residence, Des Moines) doesn’t want my letter on his facebook wall. Clearly he doesn’t care what his constituents think. Let your representatives know. They still need to pass the bill through the Senate and their last attempt failed. Do NOT let your representatives defund Planned Parenthood.
Tell your federal representatives why you stand with Planned Parenthood
I wish..
Youd actually want to talk to me..
Feelings tonight.

I. Die.
Day 10: in recognition of suicide prevention week, I’m posting the second tattoo I ever had done. It celebrates all I’ve overcome in this life and reminds me that I’ve come out on the other side of dark times before; and I can do it again. She also reminds me that strength and beauty go hand in hand. There are a lot of people who think the body positivity movement is bullshit. Fine. But I will tell you that it wasn’t until I learned to accept and love myself, as I was, that I was able to propel myself into a more healthy and fit lifestyle. If being fat is a death sentence, body positivity saved my life.
I’ll add here that body positivity and fat acceptance (as a body type that exists in society) is not fat promotion. No one I know of in the body positivity movement is out there telling people to be fat or eat poorly. People, like me, who endorse body positivity, do so with the mindset that you cannot do good things for a body you hate. Eating well, exercise, self care, medical help, psychological help... are all steps toward a healthy mind, healthy body.
Let’s be badass people who lift each other up instead of tearing each other down. Develop some compassion.
I've yet to meet anyone who is body positive that is screaming, "be super unhealthy and eat shit food and do nothing good for your body." Everyone seems to have the consensus that being body positive boosts self-esteem, which can help with mental health, which helps with living a healthier lifestyle. Body positivity is literally fueling my healthy lifestyle. If you want to use "concern" as your platform, go start a program that teaches inner city kids about nutrition and fitness. Go start a "yoga in the park" session. Go out and help people. Don't just sit behind your computer and tell fat people they need to lose weight. Duh. We have eyes.
