Kamukura has the curiosity of a child I think, some of his first lines in the game is how much fun he's having over novelty. When he talks about his philosphy, it's what his teachers taught him. He woke up one day with every talent known and no experiences of his own

The Steering Committee is so cynical in their decision to turn a teen into their symbol of hope. They're a group of self-interested old men who can no longer serve as the symbols of hope themselves, looked at a lost teen and when they erased him into a blank slate with everything anyone who could admire Hope's Peak wanted, all they could do with a newborn genius was tell him how he should think of the world and the people in it and never let him have anything else

It really wouldn't take much to bring Kamukura some joy and happiness, I don't think he finds the world boring past using his analyst abilities to detatch himself from everything that hurt and used him + the expectation he'll figure out a pattern with enough familiarity. He'd love playing in the mud for the first time and feeling the uneven squishiness. He'd love flying a kite and watching the kite sway in the sky. He'd love the way paper crinkles when it's crumbled up and everywhere else he could find any irregularity and surprises

Ah, what a shame. Nothing the new subjects did could have saved them. This was merely the second chapter of the lab’s story. Being a symbol of hope would just bring more despair. Nobody could have saved class 77-b from being caught in the Lab’s cruel game.  No amount of wit, luck, talent, or practice could win a game like that.

As the mystery unfolded, it became evident that their nightmares were their reality.  One by one… the students of class 77-b accepted this truth.

The new subjects fought back the best they could, even if it was too late. They did whatever was possible to try and understand the situation they were in. 

And most importantly, the class had strong hope in one another, that they could persevere and rise up. A hope for escape.

But unlike those who came before them, the next victims seemed to be chosen at random.

As far as they could tell, one day, they were normal, high school students… And the next, they woke up in a strange place, as monsters.

It seemed to be too late to save anybody now. The entire class had been fully operated on. The only ones unscathed were the masterminds….And one lucky student. One spark of hope.

On the day of the escape, hope shined brightly, as they banded together and made their way to the exit.

That hope crashed to the ground under the heel of Junko Enoshima. Nobody escaped that day. That hope was dragged away by the lab’s staff, and strapped down to an operating table, and when he opened his eyes again-

Hope had become despair.

In her preparations for the Killing School Life, Junko Enoshima came across a secret underneath Hope’s Peak. What a strange, strange place, a secret laboratory. It’s ambitious purpose had since been abandoned.

And in that strange, strange, place, Junko Enoshima toyed around with the tools and technology. She looked through the old research that was done there.

And then, she had an idea. A backup plan. _____________________________
