GoFundMe campaign for Orlando victims reaches over $1.1 million

In its first 14 hours, the page has garnered over 30,000 donations

A fund raising campaign set up by Equality Florida to help the victims of Sunday’s Orlando shooting already has reached over $1.1 million.

Equality Florida, a nonprofit LGBT civil rights organisation for the state, says on its GoFundMe page that all money raised will be ‘going directly to the victims and families affected by the horrific shooting at Orlando’s Pulse Nightclub.’

In its first 14 hours, the campaign has garnered over 30,000 donations, amounting to over $1.1 million.

The organisation assures that funds will be properly managed, saying, ‘We are working with a team of attorneys and experts, including the National Centre for Victims of Crime, which deployed funds in both Chattanooga and Aurora, to ensure funds are distributed correctly.’

If anything, this shows there is love and support out there for our community, despite recent events. Thank you for the generosity.
