..hello? i think this thing is working. um, my name is tubbo.. underscore, and i'm starting this whole, hah, audio series for the sake of.. recording history, i guess. i'm no professional, but i'm trying to get a fresh start on things, and recent things have made me uh.. [he laughs] have a sudden realization.. uh, a rekindling of some thoughts about mortality, if you will. if, um..

[he's quiet for a second. there's some soft snuffling sound, but it doesn't come from tubbo]

hello! this is a c!tubbo rp blog, set in current day. the main timeline will be mostly canon-compliant, but with many headcanons sprinkled in. this blog will also have multiple timelines simply due to the plans i have for this blog. ran by @dyketubbo, and you can also find me at @gildedgasmask, @presidentubbo, and many, many others. not affiliated with the cc nor am i roleplaying as him because uh im not a fucking freak. bit late, but uh- in, in my defense, my life has been pretty, hectic lately.

..i've never been to a wedding before. me and ranboo didn't have a, uh, ceremony, really. hope it won't be boring, at least.

[click. there's wind blowing, making the audio ever so slightly off. tubbo seems to be walking through crisp grass, and then his footsteps stop.]

..i was a nuclear physicist. i uhh, i made some nukes to, to keep myself safe. but, also to try and kill dream, you've- you've probably heard of him. he's not a great guy.

i lost one, but.. i found it again. and i took the two left over, and. i dumped 'em. right in the crater where my country used to be. there's radiation at the bottom anyways. hopefully they'll just uh, hopefully they'll just despawn? [he laughs, breathy and tinged with a swirl of emotions.]

i just ah, don't have much use for them anymore.

[he sounds bitter.]

they didn't keep me safe before. none of it did. [it's unclear what "none of it" is referring to.] i just.. i need to get a move on. clear my head. fresh start, y'know? i'll just. i've got to keep people with me, and....

[the wind picks up, and tubbo's barely heard, but he sounds more hopeful.]

gonna talk to wilbur soon, not today, but.. i dunno, we've had our differences, left on a sour note, but. maybe he'll help clear my mind a bit, yeah?

[the wind sounds off, and there's the sound of grass being walked over, but not from tubbo.]

h- hello?? .... must be my imagination, uh. well, talk to you later, i've got plans with friends. socialization is important, you know how it is. g'night.

[the recorder clicks off.]

[the recording starts staticky already. michael is snoring again. tubbo's voice is low, whispery. he seems exhausted.]

evening. uhm, i should probably explain some things.. starting with.. the ah, the static. it's.. from my husband- or. i don't know what to call him. the ghost of my husband, i suppose. boo. ghosts work a bit differently across servers, so.. teaching moment, yeah?

ghosts are pretty inconsistent, really. the only ones i've ever known have been ghostbur, the ghost of wilbur soot, and.. well. boo. the ghost of ranboo beloved. but um, if there's other ghosts, i haven't seen them.

they seem to still be tied to mortal things. they still vaguely follow gravity, they can't fly, going through walls proves difficult, and even their weaknesses seem to not- seem to be different from ghost to ghost. ghostbur was sensitive to water despite loving it in life, and. we, boo's the near opposite. he was allergic in life and unaffected now.

..they're relatively kind, really. ghostbur always wanted to help, and. boo helps out in his own ways.

i think he still loves me. i know he still loves michael. i can't.. i can't tell when i'm supposed to treat him as ranboo and when i should treat him like a stranger. he still gives me pink tulips, he still speaks to michael with the same soft voice, but- [his voice shakes, and he goes even quieter] ..how did i not notice? [then, it returns] he seems to.. care less about things. or, no. he worries less. he still cares. maybe that's what matters.

..he's still his own person, and he's deserving of respect. so, um- [he laughs. it seems a little bit genuine, if awkward.] treat your local ghost like a friend. they're not the exact same as the person you knew in life, but.. they're still them in their own way.

but maybe i'm just tired of being mad. i just.. he didn't ask to be here. i can offer him some kindness, can't i? and.. limbo seems cruel anyways. i want ranboo back, but i can't actively condemn his ghost in good conscious. that's still him, in one way or another, surely.

[the static grows louder, and tubbo's words become incomprehensible. he seems to be saying goodnight to boo, though. there's sounds of rustling, and then the recorder clicks off.]

[michael is snoring again, but ranboo's faint breaths can also be heard. tubbo's voice is low, whispery. he still seems tired.]

evening. uhm, i should probably explain some things.. starting with my husband, ranboo. he got.. recently revived, don't know why, but. teaching moment, yeah?

revival is.. something i've studied, sort of. well- i've studied necromancy, but, still. i've been apart of a revival effort before, of the late wilbur soot. so far the only successful revivals have been done by dream, through something called, uh, the revive book. or.. maybe there's multiple. excuse me for being a bit unclear on that.

the uh- the known revived people have been.. um, tommyinnit, wilbur soot, and.. [he takes a shaky breath] now, ranboo. people who get revived usually have little alterations done to them, though they continue to bare the mark of their final canon death, as is the usual with lost canon lives. erm, white streaks seem to be a pattern, and.. occasionally a different outfit. but, usually.. they just seem.. tired.

from what i can gather, i think time moves quicker in limbo.

cruel, innit? [he laughs, but it's forced.] they don't come back right. i still barely wrap my head around it, honestly. i still feel like this isn't real. i don't know how real they feel either.

[michael shivers against the cold, and tubbo unbuttons his vest, tucks michael close to his chest, and buttons it back with michael snug against him. he doesnt send any more messages before making it to his house. he stares at ranboo, wide eyed. third time isn't the charm, it seems.]

pinch me. [he holds an arm out, shifting his hold on michael.] i need to know you're real.

[ranboo blinks, seeing them, before gently poking tubbo's arm, not wanting to hurt him.]

uh- hey. you look- are you- um- can I hold him?

[it takes everything in him not to make his burns any worse by crying. he's alive.]

[the enderman hybrid looks like a mess. his hair is long, and the white half is as it was, with the dark half now having several white streaks in it. the circles under his eyes make obvious his exhaustion. still, he looks like a teenager, even after eight years in isolation.]

[tubbo sharply inhales, before taking michael out of his vest and placing him in ranboo's arms. he's quiet, and he forces his hands not to shake as he reaches up to gently cup ranboo's cheeks. still half convinced he's dreaming, he opts out of being genuine. he can't. there's no way this is real, and even if it was, he doesn't want to open up just yet.]

you're- you have so much child support to make up for, dickhead.

[ranboo leans down ever so slightly, as he holds michael close to his chest- both to make tubbo's attempt at cupping his face easier, and to cradle michael a bit.]

[he laughs at tubbo's comment.]

mhm, i know. figured maybe my inheritance would've- would've covered that, but I guess that just means more mining for me.

[he pauses, then gives one genuine remark with a tired smile.]

i missed you, man.

[the recorder clicks on suddenly, and someone whose voice is unfamiliar is laughing. it's clear that they're running from tubbo, whose shouts are heard in the distance. the one holding the recorder is identified as "eryn", and eventually tubbo seems to tackle them to the ground. they're both laughing and shouting incomprehensibly, and then the recording stops.]

[the recording starts getting staticky, but there's a new voice. it's deep, but gentle, as if trying to cradle tubbo and michael with its words. from what can be pieced together, tubbo and the voice seem to be saying their goodnights. the static starts fading, and its just michael snoring. tubbo is quiet.]
