Heartstopper is such a beautiful show. Litterly. It has beautiful representation without making it seem like a tragedy. Of course it's going to talk about the results of homophobia and transphobia in society but that's because it's important to talk about, and especailly among teenagers.
Even more, the show isn't just about this one couple being gay. Nick and Charlie have so so much more to their characters, ands it beautiful to see them grow up and evolve and to learn from mistakes and understand their own feelings. It makes me reflect on myself, as im going through the exact same stage as the characters in the show are. It feels familiar.
I see so many people hate on the show, for being bad representation, but truthfully, it does have one of the best representation of just teenagers that I've seen in media in a long time. Sure, it may have dialog that you think a normal teenager would never say, but that's because they aren't a normal group of teenagers, just like how my own friend group acts and says things you wouldn't think a normal group would.
The show is so beautiful cause it's so real while being gentle. It goes over so many important facets of being a teenagers. And if that's not good television, then I don't know what is.
