Let’s talk about the Siana ship...
*This does contain spoilers to both games*
In the first game, we are introduced to Diana. She was a villain for the second half of the game and played that role perfectly. In my opinion (I’ll be saying that a lot) what makes an amazing villain character is...
The villain character has to have a reason to be evil (this one is pretty easy and obvious to achieve)
A semi evil personality (I don’t think you’ll see a villain kiss babies and puppies unless they are manipulated)
Makes me have the urge to bitch slap them so hard that when they wake up the next day the gravity of that slap will keep them stuck in bed for the next week or so.
Diana sold me on all of these points... kind of. Because not only was she a villain but a dateable option, which my bisexual ass was sold on. I saw Diana as a very powerful, clever, but spoiled princess.
Don’t get me wrong, Diana is an amazing character and this is why. I also have nothing against Michaela Laws and the Seduce Me games. Even in the second game where Diana wasn’t a villain still manages to amaze me with how well written she is (kind of).
But what was holding me back from being all for the second game? Why did I not like the second game as much as the first? Well, here’s the answer.
Saero. As a character he is... meh. Compared to characters like Damian, Erik, Diana, and Matthew, he’s lacking. If you like him that’s completely fine. It’s just he’s okay.
If you don’t know, Saero is Diana’s personal guard. We get him as an option to be his student to train for war. And since Diana is a succubus, he help her with uh, *ahem*... yeah.
In my opinion, Saero is completely fine on his own, but with Diana?
Holy shit! I guess you can say they’re a power couple. Pretty threatening to say. (Who am I kidding?)
I don’t like them together.
Again, nothing against Michaela Laws and whoever ships them, this is just my honest opinion.
Why don’t I like them? A big question. There are many reasons why I don’t like them together. I’m just hoping that’s there is another person or people who agree with me and I’m not just sitting here complaining about some video game characters being together.
Do you guys remember that one scene from the game in Sams route? The one where you are being held captive by Saero, and Diana is planning on um... doing something to Sam?
I have other reasons on why I don’t like that scene, but the main reason is the outcome. First off, Sam’s actions are completely valid! If my significant other was nowhere to be seen and I was awakened by someone pretending to be them, I would question them too. Of course the whole beating up scene was all Sam’s thing.
So what I expected was for Saero to be the voice of reason and tell Diana that maybe it wasn’t a good idea to do something like this regardless of whether or not some great being was telling you to do it.
(Oh did I mention that some god of dragons convince Diana to that? Wtf Khaleesi.)
But you wanna know what happens? He takes her side and doesn’t even say anything about an apology. I know she got really badly beaten up, but don’t pick fights you can’t win! Did you think Sam was gonna be reasonable? You just woke him up planning to do god knows what with him and didn’t even give a warning.
What’s even more insane is the fact that Saero is “so loyal” to the point where he can’t even be reasonable. If I were in his shoes I would have stopped the whole incident long before we got in the room.
Diana should have known better and if not, Saero should’ve said something, regardless of position. When in a relationship, both parties have to be in agreement, and judging by his movement in the scene I know he felt reluctant.
Another scene that comes to mind is one in James’ route. I feel like most of James’ route is hard to swallow when with Saero. For example why is he so jealous of him? Does Diana secretly like James or something? Does he think that if he turns his back they’ll run off to start something? Like hello, James is getting married, his fiancé is like right next to him.
But one scene that comes to mind is the scene before you choose a trainer. This scene differs depending on which route you took, another reason why this game is great. The first couple of moments go by just fine. But guess who decides to pop his little pretty boy head into the room?
Instead of just coming in to check on us or tell us what’s ahead like a reasonable person, his decides to start some shit. He explains what happened with Diana and the Demon Lord and how it was all their faults.
First off, I think that statement is complete bullshit. I can make a whole other post about why I don’t think it’s our fault that the Demon Lord destroyed everything. But to summarize, if the boys stayed in the human world regardless, Diana castle would still be up in flames.
Second of all, I’m sorry, but are you seriously going to start this with the people who lived with the Demon Lord? The very people who probably went through hell inside of that castle, especially Damian? (My baby boy who deserves the world and needs all the hugs and kisses) Yes, Diana got it bad. But in my opinion, I think both have it pretty bad.
I know Saero is doing this to defend Diana, but that doesn’t make him a good person. He’s literally making assumptions about something that happened ten years ago and is planning to avenge.
While yes I do have my “suspicions” with Saero. I feel like the biggest reason has nothing to do with Saero. Remember when I said that Diana’s character was good in the second game (kind of)? Well let’s talk about that.
At the start I said that in the first game I loved Diana as a villain, in the second game where she isn’t a villain is where things start to get complicated.
I said that her personality is powerful, clever, and above all else, spoiled. This is where her spoiled little highness comes into play. Due to the fact that puts herself so high on a pedestal, she thinks she can get away with anything without any consequences. Like the scene in Sam’s route or hell even in Damien’s route.
Not only that, there are plenty other examples of this. Like the way she treats the others in the rebellion. Other than Fae, she had many arguments with them that should be noted.
Shadow was doing his job and she lashed out at him over a flower. While yes it was rare it wasn’t necessary, and knowing Shadow’s personality obviously he didn’t see the need to have it. This does not give Diana the right to treat Shadow like that.
Rabbit’s people were enslaved and she wanted to hurry up and save them. Diana was trying to tell her to wait but it got out of hand. Of course Rabbit wouldn’t understand what power really meant, she saw as a way to save her people, and how would Diana, a person who was raised with everything handed to her, understand. It’s reasonable for Rabbit to feel this way, and Diana was only trying to help, but getting angry at her was unnecessary.
Sergeant oh Sergeant. She got PHYSICAL with Sergeant. Sergeant swung first but Diana swung harder.
I know that Diana owns the castle now and is the leader, but don’t you think she would be a bit more lenient when it comes to people who is offering their help. Even Fae knew something was very wrong. They had a hunch that Diana may have been going mad.
So what made Diana less angry? Simple! Mika. Or more so you or the MC. Diana said so herself that she wanted to try doing nice things. She didn’t lash out in anger at the MC. Maybe because she felt bad about the first game. Even after she got angry in front of you she felt bad. In my opinion, I feel like Diana is better off with the MC than with Saero, or to make the shippers happy, have them all together in a polyamorous relationship. Because I fear what their relationship together would be like.
Not that it matters because they are canonically in a relationship together.
They do seem to be doing fine, but I do like them better as friends. Like Saero is such a dork when being friendly with Diana while she is such a troll.
But that’s just my opinion.
