Did someone say puppy Ilya?? 🐶
Sleepy boys 💤
Okay, here’s another one.
The reason Ilya always tops isn’t (just) cuz he’s a dom or pleaser or whatever, it’s because when he bottoms or has his prostate stimulated he can’t control his reaction - writhing, begging, crying, squirming, honking like a walrus, twitching, whining… it’s a whole production and utterly humiliating. He can’t bear to let anyone see him like that, he thinks Shane would lose respect for him and not want Ilya to fuck him anymore.
But once they become real boyfriends and have that emotional breakthrough, Ilya starts to trust Shane enough that maybe they could try it. Ilya confesses that he wants to know what it feels like for Shane, being fucked by someone who loves him. Eventually, they do switch, just to try, and Shane is… shocked, to say the least. At first he’s uncomfortable, constantly stopping to ask if Ilya is okay and if he’s doing it right. Ilya assures him these are good noises and he would say if it wasn’t. He does feel a little secondhand embarrassment but he is mostly worried he’s bad at topping. Then they get into the swing of it, thrusting deep, and Ilya’s screaming “I love you I love you I love you” and cursing in Russian. Shane locks in. It’s not like with women where he wasn’t really turned on and worried about staying hard and his bad rhythm. With Ilya he’s harder than he has ever been and losing his mind at the effect he’s having on him. He fucks him good and hard and they both sob, and after its the closest they have ever felt.
i DO think that as they get more comfortable with each other, shane starts becoming more dominant in the bedroom. and he takes ilya out of his head.
and so what if shane teasingly calls ilya his little puppy and then it spirals from there
and ilya is fucking shane into the mattress with his hole plugged up with a cool metal plug with a fuzzy tail on the end, and a collar wrapped nicely around his neck as shane tugs on the lease attached to it, begging his good boy to fuck him faster, deeper, harder
and ilya would do anything shane asks right now so when shane says "speak" ilya whimpers out a pathetic bark to which just cums almost instantly from
Thinking about Centaurs movie night, maybe they're on a roadie and everybody piles into the Hollanov suite (they get the biggest room, always has a nice TV and space for everybody who wants to come) and they put on some movie, maybe a Disney princess film or a Princess Bride type movie with a romance. After the ending Ilya cracks the joke "Shane 🥺 why don't you romance me like this? Always 'you are asshole' and 'am better at hockey', where is the wooing??" And the Centaurs fall over themselves laughing and chirping until Shane gets that little-shit smirk and comes over to take Ilyas hand, brings it to his mouth for a classic hand kiss with smouldering eyes and suddenly Ilya is bright fucking red and has absolutely nothing to say back to that 🤣
I finally figured out how to put words to the detail that makes me deeply obsessed with this exact moment:

Ilya being a goofball is funny on its own, but it’s the fact that NO ONE is paying attention to him here that elevates it. The kids are already way past him, Shane is watching the kids, literally no one is looking at him. Ilya isn’t performing for anyone here. He came up with a game and is having fun playing it himself, regardless of if he has an audience.
It’s hitting me harder now why Ilya loves being around kids so much. He gets to initiate play with an excuse to use as a shield to his teammates later that it was entirely for the kids and not for him. The kids Ilya plays with have absolutely no idea that they’re seeing a more real version of him than the vast majority of the people in his life.
It’s also why it’s CRUCIAL to have this scene cut together with the All Star game and Ilya playing with Shane on the same team for the first time. It’s the perfect way to communicate to the audience that playing hockey with Shane allows Ilya to find his boyish joy again. Ilya is having the same emotional experience playing hockey with Shane as he is playing shark attack with the kids in the pool.
There’s an interview where Connor says he doesn’t think Ilya really cares about hockey, and this is a demonstration of what I think he means. Shane loves hockey specifically, Yuna loves hockey specifically, Svetlana loves hockey specifically.
Ilya likes competition and play, but he’s only playing hockey because he’s naturally very good at it. Being the best isn’t what keeps him happy—it’s playing with Shane and finding the fun he must have experienced as a child with his mother on the ice before his father turned it into a job.
Anyway this is in my top favorite shots of the entire show for the way it makes me crack up but also feel all that.
It's very important to me that Shane finds Ilya extremely adorable. Like yes, that is the hottest man he's ever seen, but like, that's also the man who would puff out his cheeks, frown and sigh dramaticly at the minorest of inconveniences, that man, atleast to Shane, is so so cute Shane sometimes has to clench his fists to let the cuteness aggression subside because it's either this or he's squeezing Ilya's face until he looks like a puffer fish and kissing him all over.
I just know that Shane was one of those kids who didn't speak til three and when he did he busted out a full sentence one day and that sentence was, "Jason stole my FUCKING crayons" followed by a WHAP as Shane hit Jason and Jason hit the floor and Yuna and David were summoned immediately to the school to have an Important Conversation and David sat there the entire time staring at Yuna out the side of his head because Shane did NOT get those "interpersonal skills" from the mailman and Yuna's only response to the entire conversation was, "Well. Did Jason steal his fucking crayons???"
Twenty-three years later Ilya Rozanov dies on a floor in Ottawa after hearing this story for the first time.

Hollanov relationship reveal when Ilya gets cursed to have a pair of dog ears and a tail and he can’t stop wagging his tail whenever anyone mentions Shane and that is what I’m saying. That is the post.
Ilya breaks on a sunday.
Shane knew the anniversary of his mom's passing had been hurtling towards them, and he tried as best he could to prepare for the inevitable blow out. Ilya had been working closely with Galina around his grief, and from what Shane had been reading on various forums, this revelation would not be smooth.
It started with Shane waking as a side effect of Ilya's fitful slumber. The nightmares had become more frequent, as they always did this time of year. He tossed and turned as he relived the horrid memory that plagued his head.
"Ilya, wake up," Shane promoted gently, softly shaking the man next to him.
Ilya awoke with a gasp, chest heaving, taking gulping breaths like he was a man starving for air.
He choked on the sobs that clawed out his throat, swallowing his pitiful noises, trying to slow his heart that seemed to be beating too fast.
"You're okay, Ilya. I'm here. Let it out," Shane murmured, gently caressing the soft curls on Ilya's head.
"I am not okay, Shane." He croaked.
"What do you mean?"
"I am bad," Ilya started, "No, baby-" Shane began to interrupt. "Yes!" Ilya snapped, Shane pausing his movements ever so briefly. "I- I am sorry, Shane, I did not mean... I- I do not know what to say, I did not mean to yell." Ilya hiccuped, breath falling fast past his lips.
"I am just as bad as they are," He whispered, voice full of shame.
"As who?" Shane asked.
"Papa and Alexei." Ilya admitted flatly.
"What? No. Ilya, you are so strong, you are so much braver than they are. You could never be like them," Shane defended, tone incredulous.
Ilya shifted off the bed, moving to stand and pace around the room. "I am. I hate her..." Ilya paused. "I hate her." He shouted, sobs returning, tears streaming steadily down his face. He buried his hands roughly in his hair, tugging harshly in attempts to ease the pain that was erupting from his heart. "She left me here with them and no one else. I hate her, how could she do this to me? She said she loved me. She lied." Ilya voice cracked from the force he used to push the words that had lodged themselves in his chest for years.
"Why did she lie?" Ilya sobbed, knees buckling as the hit the floor. Shane stood from the bed finally and met his husband against the cold hardwood. He curled himself around the other man, clutching Ilya's head to his chest. "Baby," Shane soothed softly, "hating her for leaving you does not make you bad. It makes you human. You are strong, so, so strong," he emphasized, tightening his grip around Ilya.
They sat there for minutes, hours, neither of them were quite sure. As Ilya's cries and pleas softened, he tilted his head up to face Shane.
"я тебя люблю, Shane."
"I love you so much, baby. So much."

shane has this habit of picking up accents.
and maybe it's whatever's going on in his brain, because even though he isn't diagnosed, something's.... different. not wrong, per say, just different.
yuna first noticed this when shane was in kindergarten and a little german boy joined his class. she thought it was cute the way shane picked up his timid "hallo's" and tried to pronounce "gesundheit," in a mouth that was too small for the big word.
the habit kind of wore off after a while. or shane just got better at catching himself and made the effort to quit.
which is why, in this moment, she was so perplexed at the action of shane, high in a hospital bed, greeting the nurses with an oddly russian sounding "hejlloh." she raised an eyebrow at david who was watching his drugged up son fondly, "he hasn't picked up an accent in a while." she said coolly, trying not to run wild conspiracies in her head. had he met a girl? a russian girl? there's no way...
it was even more interesting when he had later relayed that a very russian ilya rozanov had come to visit him in the hospital. there's no way rozanov was hanging around shane long enough for him to pick up the accent right. right?
but then months later david came home, shell shocked and quiet, followed by a quite anxious shane and none other than THE russian ilya rozanov, who was saying things like "lovers," and "boyfriend," in the familiar cadence that shane had recently adopted.
suddenly his quiet "okey's" and heightened interest in russian literature made a lot more sense.
"ilya rozanov," she muttered to herself one night in the weeks following that day. "hm," she hummed short, before laughing to herself softly, and shrugging.
she stops abruptly, promptly remembering herself uttering the words "fuck him. fuck him, right up the butt." mouth dropping in horror at herself, and dropping even further at the memory of "yes, maybe," as shane's odd cadence of a response.
fuck.
My unimportant headcanon is that Shane has never lost a fight on ice. He rarely drops his gloves but when he does, it means the other guy did something to piss him off bad enough to make him lose his cool. And he never loses the fight because baseline, Shane is a spectacular athlete, and is strong and sturdy and sharp. He's observed these players on tape way too closely and is aware of all their weak spots. He'll always be the last one standing if it's a balance game on skates. And his punches hurt like fuck because he's sculpted his body into a weapon. There's a bit of disillusionment around Shane as perceived by some players because they attribute his success to innate talent, ignoring the psychotic obsession Shane has for being a hockey player and being a winner. It's easy to ignore his immense effort and focus, and they learn that lesson the hard way when their ears start ringing and mouth starts tasting like blood. Turns out, "pretty boy" has a nasty right hook.
Shane after playing Never Have I Ever with the Centaurs, absolutely wasted (truly never been as drunk), "Ilya... am I... kinky?"
