Great Fall Look...

Spotted NYU student Heather Schindler cruising around Manhattan's East Village in this grownup school girl back-to-the-books look. I'm a sucker for a shirred waist skirt...and hers is vintage American. It even has an old union label to prove it! Gotta love a girl who surfs eBay for great finds before midterms. The rest of her look is also all vintage..except from her satchel from Madewell.

Good stuff...and only a couple notes to add. I was almost over cobalt until I saw Allison Williams hit the red carpet. I love cobalt. It is sadly overexposed for the season. Kristen Connolly from "House of Cards" was my absolute favorite. She nails it for a Fall awards show.

Stylemates...

This couple makes me feel like quoting Woody Allen. In the meantime, I'm pretty sure their thrift would make Macklemore proud. Married for about a year it is pretty clear that Rog & Bee Walker suit one another. Both are photographers living in Mott Haven.

I'm pretty sure my cousin Kay Reed is the best selfie picture taker around. Not only is she the queen of selfies, but I think she is also the queen of multi-tasking #metime. I attended February 2013 Social Media Week in New York. 

Using a "Global" pass I had unlimited access to hundreds of thought provoking and groundbreaking events. Being chosen to be one of two Social Media Week reporters in Berlin would turn that global pass into a REAL passport to so much more. I'm a journalist by trade so during last winter's SMW that's how I approached making connections and featuring the digital tastemakers behind changing the landscape of how the world communicates and shares information. Pre-Fall...

Ladies, this is a fab way to extend all those awesome summer jumpers we've purchased. This is also the way you wear a crop sweater without offending the eyes of people who don't get the whole abbreviated, belly-button exposing, top craze. (I know I don't get it!!). Bosnian model, Tea Jusic of Muse Model Management looks perfect for her next casting call. This is also the perfect look for a drizzly, cool, NYC day. I'm loving how the crop top covers the low back of her overalls but still reveals a little something. Super femme! Minus the cool moccasins, she's in Zara from head-to-toe including the necklace. "You Look Smart Today..."

One of the coolest things that ever happened to me while working as a desk assistant after college at ABC News for Peter Jennings was a style compliment. I showed up to the World News Tonight writing and producing rim one day in Annie Hall-inspired, high-waisted, khaki, wide-legged pants from Club Monaco. I kept things basic with a simple white button-down from J.Crew and brown pumps with a pointed toe. As I passed out scripts he swiveled around in his chair and breezed out "You look smart today...," in his high-brow, aristocratic, Canadian accent. I was so darn pleased with myself. 

UVA Law student Victoria Murphy should also be pleased with herself. I have a major crush on her smart yet fashionable work attire. I have no doubt she'll be a partner someday while wearing attire that would make Donna, Rachel, Jessica and every other character on Suits drool in their legal briefs. Not a lot of people can pull this definition off with the finesse my friend Carolyn Hsu can. This looks generates interest with its unique textures and patterns. One might argue the stellar execution of this outfit is far from coy. But it totally rocks the essence of what I think is one of the most beautiful words in the dictionary. As Editorial Director of Makeup.com and creator of thedailyobsession.net and thehsucloset.com, Carolyn knows what works. Her Michael Van der Ham dress was a brilliant pick for her engagement brunch recently held at Bobo in Manhattan. And although she will tell you her religious views are "The Christian denomination: Louboutin", she chose bridal gold Manolo Blahnik's to make the rounds with friends and loved ones for this occasion.
