~Fast wie Magie~ means "Almost like Magic" in German, which is my mother tongue (I'm from Austria).

For me it describes the process of taking some fabric, or yarn (or other raw material) and transforming it into something beautiful and wearable that mystifies others. "How did she do that??" "Seems like Magic. "

I started this blog in German, later posted bilingual and then switched to English completely because it gives more people access to what I want to share. I will stick with the original title though 💜

It was lots of fun embroidering the blog name and styling the embroidery to create my banner art! For that alone the name will stay.

I love to react to & thank people for their great tags, but usually that will happen from my main [@amyinmyheart] as tumblr reroutes to main even though I'm looking at my sideblog.

I've received these two stunning flower lace headdresses from Distant Melody today. I love to support small businesses and her work is just too lovely!

The purple one is for my friend and the pink gingham one for me. We're both obsessed with her work, so we usually do a group order to save on shipping! The wide white flower lace is so stunning!!

The pink gingham with the gingham ribbon as well is just stinking cute as well. I'm really pleased with it and cannot wait to style it.

Replace a lost button with me

On a recent day trip with my friends I've lost a button on this cute trachten jacket! I've thought about searching for other heart buttons in the same style, to replace my missing one. But then I remembered this stinking cute mushroom buttons and voila! The vibe matches well imo.

I've moved one of the heart buttons and added the mushroom button right on top for an accent point. 🍄

Almost lost the third pin on the jacket too, but found it again on the floor after searching at the train station. It's currently missing it's backing and I'm thinking which third button should complete the trio now!?

This post is mainly for me. I want to start a "want/need to buy" list, so I can a) get the want a bit out of my head and can reference later if I really REALLY want it and/or b) need something new (like thights in this post) but don't need it right away. Time for pride

Seasonal depression is hitting me super hard this year. I feel like there is nothing to hope for...

I unpacked these beautifully crafted pride armbands from day 4 of the advent calendar swap. At the same day the Vienna pride parade was announced for June 14th next year. I'm excited for it and hope I'll feel better way before that!

Advent calendar swap time!!!

Day 1-3

Like last year I've again participated in a DIY advent calendar swap. You get a description from your "Wichtelkind" (pixie child? Elf child?), the person you make little presents for and another 3rd person gets your description and makes something for you. It's lots of fun!

The pictures above are the beautiful packaged advent calendar I've received (1: all lined up on the window and 2: tucked away into a box) . 3: is my cat supervising the packing of the advent calendar I've sent out myself.

Finally 4 & 5 show what I've got for the first 3 days of advent! A cute little pot for raising your own fir tree from seeds, a pretty little patchwork pouch and a fox cookie cutter!

The witches' hip bag

To go along with my witchy vest I made a hip bag from some of the fabric remnants. As luck would have it I have a bigger version of the buttons I used for the vest and could use two for my bags.

I made it so the hip bags aren't permanently attached to the belt strap, so I can adjust their position however I'd like on any given day and also so I could reuse the belt strap and possibly sew alternative bags to hang on it in the future.

I've realized I've had that in my drafts forever! Might rework the hip bag someday in the future, but for my first try it wasn't that bad!

Weekend getaway, anyone?

I went thrifting with a dear friend...

She visited my city (I live in the capital) from her province and declared she wanted to go second hand shopping. Say no more friend!! I'm here for it!!

I found:

a white sleeveless top I like to wear layered under long-sleeved tops in winter (which i've been searching high & low for!!)

a dark green summer sleeveless top with beautiful brass buttons and red ribbons/flowers/whatever else you want to see in it

a light blue top with very short sleeves with a white leaf pattern on it

a crocheted handbag and a wide shawl in the same gorgeous berry reddish purple colour. The shawl has shell decorations and beads sewn onto it.

a necklace I plan to take apart & a shell belt/sash/necklace (?) thing

Makes me think of a summer getaway with a dear friend or lover! ♥ Just grab the bag, fill it with your essentials and be off so a summery location with your loved one! A girl can dream (of other girls), right?

Time to transform!

I went to a designer/handmade fair together with some friends this spring. There I found wonderful magnets at one booth and had to have this "castle in the sky" design, because it looks a) very beautiful and b) reminded me of dreams I used to have a lot as a child.

I knew immediately I wanted the magnet to be a brooch. Luckily there was only a small magnet clued to the back of the wooden design. It was easy to pry that off and just glue a brooch backing on instead. The brooch was meant to be paired with this dress I made previously! The dress bodice has flying ships and clouds and flowers and stuff, so it really fits with the theme of the new brooch ^-^

The necklace is also a previous DIY, it's some pretty fabric glued to a pendant backing with a glass cabochon on top to cover & enhance it.
