Post #888 - Travel bucket list, continued (tour edition)
A few months ago, I was looking at tours that I’d be interested in going on - restricting myself to North America-centered tours primarily - and then I forgot about it. However, today I remembered again, prompted by a Youtube video on my Facebook feed, of all things! Unfortunately, I then realized that I had forgotten most of the ones I was interested in. But I dug around and found the list, so here goes - I’m posting them on here, along with some brief commentary by me, so I don’t forget, and just in case you might be interested too!
In no particular order...
http://www.alaskaalpineadventures.com/alaska-adventure-tours/hiking/hiking-trips-lake-clark-national-park/kayaking-hiking-twin-lakes/trip/54 - Lake Clark is known for great coastal brown bear viewing (see my prior bucket list update) but there’s jaw-dropping scenery too, just like nearly anywhere else in Alaska. Recognized by National Geographic as one of 2010′s “Tours of a Lifetime”
http://alaskamountainguides.com/trips-courses/locations/north-america/alaska/multi-sport/glacier-bay-traverse/ - The vast majority of people visit Glacier Bay by cruise ship... this is a much better way to visit one of Alaska’s more popular national parks while avoiding nearly everyone along the way. Recognized by National Geographic as one of 2011′s “Tours of a Lifetime”
https://www.oars.com/adventures/grand-canyon-rafting-lees-ferry-to-lake-mead/ - Visiting the rim of the Grand Canyon is one thing. Hiking from one rim to the other is another. But rafting the entire length of it? Now that’s awesome. Recognized by National Geographic as one of 2011′s “Tours of a Lifetime”
http://www.mapleleafadventures.com/sailing-cruises/great-bear-rainforest.php - The Great Bear Rainforest where you can catch sight of the “spirit bear” - white grizzlies - in one of the few remaining areas of protected temperate rainforest. Recognized by National Geographic as one of 2011′s “Tours of a Lifetime”
https://yellowstonewolfguides.com/index.php - Anyone can organize a decent tour into Yellowstone and/or Grand Teton National Park and hit the highlights, it’s not hard to do. These guys focus on spotting the famed Yellowstone wolves, and that’s what I want to go to Yellowstone to see.
http://www.churchillwild.com/adventures/polar-bear-safari/ - Polar bears, up close and personal. No fences between you and one of the biggest predators in North America. Oh, and northern lights, arctic foxes, and desolate yet beautiful tundra. Definitely merits a spot on my travel bucket list!
Until I update this next time~!
