Transformers and Humanformers doodles
Despite just sliiightly questionable morale and not-so-good worldbuilding do you think overall Metal Cardbot is a good show?
It is definitely a fun one if you don't take it seriously. Also almost every important character is copied from some other popular character so it's hard to take them seriously anyway haha
I honestly see mcb more as a crossover fanfic where it's like "what if 50 different media + transformers + pokemons"
(OP's tags)
I'm rather frustrated with how readily transforming robot shows outside of the Transformers franchise get dismissed as "knockoffs".
There are certainly comparisons to be made between Metal Cardbot and other media, just as every other media has something you can compare them to, but I see the specific ones you draw as quite shallow and not engaging with the characters as they're presented in the show.
Even with the first character comparison you draw, why Jun Grant and Sonic the Hedgehog? A comparison to Yuuta Tomonaga from Brave Police J-Decker feels more apt to me, being schoolboys who form a special bond with a transforming police car robot as an important element of their respective shows. This a comparison I've drawn before, have seen other people draw before, and relates to a show I've actively seen you post about before.
What I feel emphasizes this even more is when you say "what if 50 different media + transformers + pokemons" in the main body of this post, making a comparison to Pokémon, who only shares the barest threads of comparing Pokéballs to the Metal Breath, when again, a more apt comparison is right there in the form of Yokai Watch.
In fact, that game exists within the same phenomena where nearly every piece of media that exists within a sub-genre gets accused of being a flat knockoff of the massive franchise that serves as the face of the sub-genre (Being creature collectors in the case of Pokémon/Yokai Watch).
I have more questions about the comparisons being made. Why do the comparisons for the human cast seem to just be characters with colour palettes in common? (And who is Osami? I cannot seem to find any character named that or similar in the context of Miraculous Ladybug)
What similarity is there between Sky-Byte and Deep Bite beyond being blue sharks???
At what point in Season 2 did the show supposedly start copying itself???
When you said "the cannon dude from the new season" at first I thought you must mean Tigun, but he's not similar to Snarl from the Unicron Trilogy continuity at all. They have different types of alt modes, different colour palettes, different animals they're associated with, different personalities, different roles in the story.
Are you referring to Blue Cop W? He has some resemblance to Snarl. But why is he "the cannon dude" over the literal tank?????
In that case, both have a wolf theming and have commonalities in colour palette, but again, have different types of alt modes, different personalities, different roles in the story. The clearest point of comparison, the wolf heads on their arms, even work differently, being part of the alt mode in the case of Snarl and being part of the card weapon in the case of Blue Cop.
And all this? This is mostly just refuting the dismissal of the show as a "knockoff", as that's what the majority of your post and tags discuss.
This doesn't even get into the additional comment of calling the show "a fun one if you don't take it seriously". I'm not gonna dig into that much, as this is more down to matters of peoples' personal tastes in media, but I still feel it should be said that I have a lot of fun when taking the show seriously, as do many other people, evidenced by the discussions I see throughout the fanbase about the worldbuilding, thoroughly thought-out OCs, theories about what future episodes may be like, etc.
But, ultimately, my main gripe comes down to the fact that you have a large audience of Transformers fans, for whom your posts about Metal Cardbot will be their main exposure to the show, due to it being a lesser-known series, and it saddens me that this main exposure to a show i care about takes on what comes across as having a very shallow and dismissive tone to it.
