About the show:
As every year, I went to my hometown #santiagodechile๐จ๐ฑโค๏ธ and I did, together with @galerianac a little solo show called โ๐๐๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐๐ข๐ฉ๐๐๐๐ฌโ as an introduction version to the main exhibition opening in June 6th with @thisweekendroom_official โ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐๐ข๐ฉ๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฌโ
Some reflections and ideas about the tittle:
โ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐๐ข๐ฉ๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฌโ speaks to a paradox that lies at the heart of my painting practice โ the way memory and imagination often blur into one another. The works in this exhibition are built from recollections that feel vivid but uncertain, as if Iโve lived them in a dream, or borrowed them from someone elseโs life. Sometimes, I suspect Iโm painting memories I havenโt actually lived yet โ scenes or feelings I somehow expect to become part of me. In that sense, the title reflects the strange elasticity of time in the emotional landscape of painting: the future echoes into the past, and the past folds into the present.
The title ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐๐ข๐ฉ๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฌ carries a quiet contradiction: how can we remember something that hasnโt yet happened? And yet, painting often feels exactly like that โ like retrieving a feeling or image from somewhere ahead of us.
