Oh, this was too easy. Eva brightened her smile.
“Thank you, again,” she said, and headed off the train station, remembering to warily look around and act the part of someone who hadn’t been in this town since girlhood.

Faline hadn’t a clue where she was in the dark forest. She was grateful Emily seemed to remember it so well from her childhood. In her time in Swynlake, Faline had been through the forest countless times to visit her friends, however in the dark is was unnavigable for her.
Lost, she followed blindly behind the happy woman. The distraction was nice, it was nice to be out of the house roaming about. Faline loved the night air blowing against her face, even if it was eerie being out here with a stranger, out in a place she wasn’t quite sure where she was.
A shortcut? Well, that could be beneficial. “Okay.” Faline said, simply following behind still. They were moving into thicker woods, where trees seemed to pop up every few feet. The undergrowth was denser now and she could feel sticks scraping against her bare ankles every few steps.
Finally they took a break. Something about picnics, Faline’s ankles were beginning to get sore and she wanted to ensure they weren’t torn apart by their walk. She shouldn’t of worn sandals. Stupid decision on her part, but she never expected to walk through the forest.
Looking up, she noticed that Emily wasn’t by her side anymore. Confused, she looked around before she heard the voice coming from somewhere out of her vision. ‘Sorry” she called out, “My ankles were bothering me. Just a few scratches though.” she said, attempting to seem alright despite the small beads of blood coming from the scratches on her ankles.
It wasn’t until she realized she felt like she was being watched that the hairs on her neck started to prickle. “Emily…” she said, concerned now. “I think we should head back to the path. Come on. I think it’s this way.” She called out, walking back towards the way she thought they had come.

“Oh! That would be lovely, thank you so much!” Eva widened her eyes and smiled at this girl. “My name is Emily and I’m from Birmingham.” There was no crack in her mask. Anyone (with the exception maybe of Snow, who was well-versed in Eva’s hunting techniques. They often tried to out-compete one another, but then ended up sharing particularly delicious morsels) would think Eva to be the lost, innocent, helpless woman that she was pretending to be.
She took the phone from the girl and paused, pretending that she was trying to remember the number. After a couple of false dials, she finally said “Oh maybe it’s an 8 at the end?” and then called the phone that was in Edelweiss Estate. Snow probably wasn’t home. The phone rang. She pictured it in the hallway where they kept it. Maybe Snow was home, but just couldn’t be bothered. Either way, it did not matter.
“Hi Grandma, it’s Emily. Please call me when you get this message. I’m in town now and I can’t remember your exact address. Please let me know when you can! Thank you!”
She sighed and looked to this girl.
“She’s not picking up…I think I remember where it is, but it’s awfully dark. If you wouldn’t mind coming with me, I’ll make you a cuppa when we reach the place. My grandmother has such a cute little cottage. I haven’t been there since I was a little girl.” She laughed a little.
Birmingham? Faline had heard of it although she had never been there, if only she had travelled more but instead she moved from small town to small town through her life, seeking after Bambi rather than forging her own path. “Nice to meet you Emily.” She smiled, holding out her hand. “Really, it’s no trouble. Just a phone call.”
She took a step away, not wanting to intrude on this woman’s personal conversation while she waited for the outcome. Faline stood quietly, unsure what to do with her time so she picked at her fingernails, pulling the dirt out from underneath them. When she heard the phone hang up, with no answer, Faline looked over at the seemingly defeated woman. Of course she wouldn’t answer. It would be too simple, anyhow Grandparents never seemed overly fond with technology, phones included.
Shrugging, Faline gave a nod. She had nothing better to do and a walk through the woods wouldn’t have been too bad. Anyways, this woman seemed new and lost. Faline knew she was once like that and had been grateful to how welcoming the citizens of Swynlake had been to her.
“Of course.” She stated, pushing her phone back into her jeans pockets. “Lead the way.” She smiled. “I’ve been meaning to go on a nighttime stroll anyways.”

It had been a few weeks since Eva had had a proper hunt. And she was hungry. She had kept herself sated on quick drinks from people in clubs, homeless folk who wandered alleyways, lost looking visitors. But being in one place always aroused suspicion, so there was no way she could do a proper stalk-chase-attack-kill. Not that vampires needed to kill; Eva just liked the thrill of it.
But tonight, she wanted a good old-fashioned hunt.
She was by the train station now, hands in her pockets, a backpack on her back (really you had to commit to the part and this made her look like a lost tourist), looking around innocently, trying to spot someone who would be a perfect target. Someone alone, someone she could lure into the woods and then chase till their blood was fresh and hot and pumping and then Eva could have her fix.
The thought of it made her excited aleady and she could feel the thrill tingling on her skin.
Then she saw a slender, blonde girl, alone, and Eva smiled to herself.
“Excuse me,” she said, making her voice all high and innocent. “I’m new to the area and I was wondering if you knew how to get to…” She rummaged in her pocket, pretending to look for a slip of paper that she didn’t even own. “Oh fuck. I had my grandmother’s address written somewhere…” She made a scared face, continuing to search in the backpack. She glanced up at the girl. “She lives by the forest, she told me. Near the lake? Do you know how to get there? My mobile’s dead, otherwise I’d call her and I don’t know what to do because she’s probably worried sick right now…” Her voice trailed off.
Perfect. This was going to be perfect.

Faline couldn’t sleep, she had been wrestless in her apartment, for reasons unknown living the loneliness since Copper had left. It had been months, really, but she did still miss him. For the most part she avoided the man, ashamed and distracted by all the gossip that he was involved with.
She knew better, but she still got lonely in the little apartment quite often. Thus, Faline was on a walk. Something that would clear her mind as she explored the now familiar town once more.
She had been walking close to town, avoiding the trees because of what could lurk in it, the things that showed themselves at nightfall in this town weren’t always the safest.
It was when she had reached the train station she stumbled across a lone woman. She looked at the person as she spoke, Faline trying to understand what was going on, how to help listening intently. She pursed her lips, looking at the woman concerned. Faline knew that someone shouldn’t traverse the forest alone at dark anyways, at least she knew it fairly well from all her months searching the paths for Bambi.
“Well.... You can borrow my mobile?” she offered. “And I can help you walk... the woods aren’t exactly safe.” she said, extending an arm, allowing the woman to lead the way.
“Oh, I’m Faline by the way. You are?”

Finale : Faline & Aurora
It had been three months since she had seen Bambi. She remembered it fondly, but the space in between was where Faline had truly grown. The events of her life led the naive girl to push the boy that she was practically raised with away. Being home alone with her parents reminded her of the steady, yet patient arms who were ready to catch her whenever she began to fall. They hadn’t pressured her too much for not bringing the Doe boy home, and let her have her space as she needed. Similarly, Copper came into play as well. Helping Faline realize she didn’t have to feel scared after the attack from the mysterious woman with green hands and long dark hair, he was a great companion for her while he and Chief lived in her little apartment. Since, though, she spent a lot of time considering where she needed to go next, trying to find herself as well as the girl she had lost in the extended period of time she neglected herself looking for Bambi.
Her first step was to reconnect with Copper. He made her feel safe, the safety net he provided was enough for her to fall back on in case Bambi rejected her entirely, unwilling to be friends after her neglectful behavior towards him. He made her feel confident, pretty, and made her feel wanted by someone other than her parents who she had thought was a mandatory thing for parents to feel about their daughters. With the knowledge that Faline would hang out with Copper very soon, have Chief’s adoration once more, made her less nervous to broach the topic of her old best friend. She wanted to apologize to him, to make the next leap forward in her progress. She needed to talk to him to continue growing.
She had spent the entire night before scouring the internet for a cookie recipe that lacked all the ingredients that truly made cookies great. She was required to meet all the dietary restrictions that Ms. Doe had imposed on Bambi such that he would understand how serious she was about her peace offering. Without the butter, milk, and eggs; Faline felt that the cookies lacked any of the gooey goodness she had always loved in them.
Placed kindly in a plastic container, she slipped them into a bag with the rest of her things packed tidily in the bag including a snack for herself she decided to make the trek to Bambi’s home. She hadn’t contacted him to tell him of such, however she hoped desperately that she’d be home when she got there and welcoming of the girl who had shoved him far far away during the winter.
Exiting her home, Faline was relieved to find a decent day. The sun was shining, and the breeze refreshing instead of cool. Her windbreaker and jeans would be plenty to keep her warm on the walk through the woods to find the cabin she remembered Bambi describing briefly.
With headphones in her ears, she bobbed to the music as she made her way to the woods. Once in the woods she walked along a path, trees painted with fading red marks determining the way she was going. She figured she’d meander along this until she stumbled upon Gaston’s home before moving along to find wherever Bambi was from it. Hadn’t he said he lived fairly close? She couldn’t really remember. Gaston’s was near impossible to miss at least.
Once stumbling upon Gaston’s, Faline strayed from the path. Her feet crunching the leaves that hadn’t decomposed over the winter, where new, fresh green grass tried to peak up through. Her head above covered in a light canopy, leaves just starting to bloom above, while pollen drifted downwards. Her curly hair bouncing with each step, eyes wandering around as the music lulled her into a sense of security.
She was ready, to make the next step in her life. To reconnect with Bambi and finally forgive him for running away from her, to move forward. Faline, after years of not being confident to who she was, finally had begun to figure it out.

Copper: You're excellent company yourself, Miss King.
Copper: Chief adores the park, the lake, being outside really. I think he misses Ireland sometimes.
Copper: The feeling is mutual.
Faline: Maybe you should take him to Ireland, it's not too far from here is it?
Faline: Ha, you're going to realize how awful at geography I am now...
Text: Fapper
Copper: I'm sorry if I made you feel that way. Y'know I left cause I felt like you were gonna get sick of me. :)
Copper: So, maybe not drinks--it is warming up. We could go to the park? Chief misses you too. He told me so.
Faline: No, I loved your company.
Faline: That sounds fun, I bet he would love the park, too.
Faline: I don't think I can get sick of you, Copper.
Text: Fapper
Copper: Why would a friend asking to grab drinks bother me?
Copper: I miss you, too. Of course. It's been too long. Feels like ages--only been what? A month?
Faline: I'm not sure, I just guess I felt like you might want a break from me.
Faline: Yea, just a month. Maybe we should get drinks. However, I really do miss Chief.
Text: Fapper
Copper: Oh, I agree, he is much cuter than me.
Copper: I'm glad you're feeling better, and you know I'm only a phone call away.
Copper: And you know, just because we aren't living together doesn't mean we can't see each other. Grab a pint or something sometime.
Faline: I know, I just felt bad bothering you.
Faline: Maybe we should do that. I really do miss your company.
Text: Fapper
Copper: I see who it is you miss more. I'm wounded.
Copper: We're both quite well, how are you, lass?
Faline: He's just cuter, I can't help it.
Faline: You're pretty handsome yourself, though, I must admit.
Faline: I'm well, I definitely feel more comfortable in my apartment thanks to your help. I do miss having you around, though.

Drunken Illusions : Falze
@zerohallows
It had been a long night; there were very few Valentines that Faline had spent alone. Whether it was with a high school boy, her family, or Bambi she always had someone who would fawn over her on a day that focused on not being alone. In this shitty little town, though, she had no one to give her chocolates or spend the day making her feel like she was wanted by someone. Instead, she spent the day growing accustomed to the idea that Copper wouldn’t be staying with her any longer, walking about the town tirelessly, and eventually setting town in the Court of Miracles. Ever since the messy shit with Gaston she wasn’t welcomed in the Hunted Deer anymore, nor did she really feel comfortable in Pixies with all the hot men just oozing overpriced drinks with little quality to them.
Instead, Faline found herself with a drink at the bar of the Court, building a hefty tab that was sure to hurt when she realized it in the morning, it’s okay her parents would help her and her job often helped ease the problems. She frowned a little bit as last call was sent out around the court and realized it was time for her to head on her way, the day no longer Valentine’s day –eve but instead, Valentine’s Day. Just Valentine’s day, the day where every stupid couple made lonely single people hyper aware they were alone.
Sad, drunk, and lonely, she walked home heavy hearted. Her feet dragging along the ground and her body barely wanting to move forward, wanting to fast forward to the moment that she would be in her lonely bed, passed out and wake up tomorrow with a sharp headache and a desperation to eat a greasy breakfast in order to cope with her stupid decisions from the night she was now living.
Stumbling along, though, she noticed someone in the distance. She couldn’t really tell who or what they were, but they were a person. Smiling, she thought about going home to a quiet, empty apartment or chatting up a stranger. The latter seemed like a better option, though not a normal one for Faline. She rushed forward, her feet stumbling forward, frequently she almost lost her balance falling forward onto the concrete in front of her. Instead she made it though, up to the girl now standing in front of her, apparently taking an evening walk.
Faline smiled, a somewhat embarrassed goofy grin, her drunkedness wanting to find company and attention in light of the newly given holiday. “Umh. Hi I’m Faline.” She began excitedly at the prospect of not being alone any longer. “And you really shouldn’t be walking alone at night. Isn’t there like a rule about pretty girls not walking alone?” she said, rushing through her words, getting lost in her train of thought quickly. “Or was that a rule about nothing good happening after 2 am…” she added, her mind lost. “I don’t know. Whatever it is. Hi I’m Faline.”
