Bethan smiled slightly. “Well why don’t we do something to get your mind off of those hurt feelings?” She suggested. The teen didn’t want to admit it but she had been really stressed lately and could use something to take her mind off of it.

Open Starter

Bethan had actually had a great day. She went out for coffee, bought herself some new shoes, went to got an alright grade in her biology test, and now she was about to go on a run. She pulled on her pink and grey sports bra and yoga pants before pulling on a matching vest top and tying her shoe laces. As always, her precious silver bracelet dangled on her wrist.

“I’ll be back in an hour.” She said to her father who was in the next room before she walked downstairs and out the door. The woods wasn’t too far from her house. Only a five minute walk. She began running as soon as she saw the woods; she knew exactly where she was going to run to.

Bethan heard the sound of the waterfall before she saw it. The teen stood there at the top and watched as the water rushed down to the lake below. She took a few steps back before running forwards and diving into the fresh water below. Brushing her hair out of her face when she came back to the top of the water and caught her breath, she began laughing out of sheer joy and excitement. She felt so free. And that’s why she went to that  waterfall at least once a week. It was like her safe space.

That joy and excitement immediately faded once she realised that her bracelet was no longer on her wrist. “No, no, no!” Ronnie mumbled before diving back below the water to have a look for it. “It’s got to be here! I can’t have lost it!” She said, frustrated as tears started to form in her eyes. To others it might just be a bracelet, but to her it was one of her most prized possessions.
