hey guys! sorry i haven't been on i've been really busy with work, i should be on later tonight!
Sariel shook zir head lightly. “I don’t understand people that don’t want to go out. You can’t see the world stuck inside!” Once more, the angel let out a sigh. But soon zir drink had arrived and ze happily took a drink from it. “You could say the best DJ in town, really,” ze smugly began. “Oh really? You’ve been to one of my shows before? How’d you like it?”
“exactly my point, staying in is boring.” cora pointed out, she never understood homebodies, she would go crazy staying inside, especially at night. “oh, cocky are we? you’re not horrible.” cora said with a wink, joking, “i’m not one to give out compliments,” cora began, “but i enjoyed it, i was working the bar, but it was good. better than some of the other shit they play around here.”

she nearly choked when the bartender mentioned the acts of sleeping with a stranger or running naked by law enforcement. poppy was horrified, her blush came back with more force this time showcasing her embarrassment by letting those thoughts even conjure images in her brain. “no, i am definitely not here for any of that. this is an experiment to find my soulmate.” she frowned, phrasing that wrong. poppy listened to the girl mention drinks she liked, making sure she was being polite enough by giving the bartender room to talk before she continued to speak. “i mean—not my, you know, soulmate,” she gestured to the air, flapping her arms to imitate her wings (in retrospect, it was a pathetic sight to see). “but as a romantic soulmate. you know, like in books!” she cast her look down, drawing with the condensation left on the bartop from previous drinks, her voice lowering slightly. “also, um, i was told i needed to ‘act my age’ and ‘loosen up’ from a few people.”
“your soulmate.” cora wanted to laugh right in her face, but she didn’t. she contained herself, somehow. cora didn’t believe in anything to do with soulmates, not the real ones or the fake ones from the books. neither seemed realistic to her. she had been brokenhearted enough times to know that there was no such thing. “sorry sweetheart,” the world rolled over her tongue, callous and uncaring, “but there’s not such thing as a soulmate, not with these stupid markings and definitely not one that’s going to climb up your fire escape with flowers,” she paused to shrug her shoulders, “besides, that’s just creepy, if you ask me.” cora had lost all hope in the idea of soulmates years ago, and nothing would ever turn her back around. she didn't even want to know who her own soulmate was. "loosening up, that's something i can help you with."

Having a contact for alcohol was basically Adam’s first priority when he moved to Lunar Grove. He had always had one back in Texas, so finding another steady way to get alcohol was a huge relief to him, even if it meant spending money he didn’t really have. To have stumbled upon a morally ambiguous bartender was a feat of luck he honestly had trouble believing, so meeting her for the first time to actually buy from her made him anxious. He waited in the agreed upon place, a parking lot that was abandoned at this time of night. Cora had slightly berated him about being so paranoid but meeting this way made him feel more assured about the whole situation. Headlights blinded him as a car pulled into the parking lot, and Adam’s heart starting racing wildly until he saw that it was Cora. His heart slowed and he wore a wide grin of relief as he walked toward her car, calling out “Holy shit, I’m glad it’s you.”
morally ambiguous might as well have been cora’s middle name. she didn’t like to follow the general rules of live, she found it much too boring. there was no excitement, no thrill in waiting for things to happen. she sought out adventure, whether by criminal activity or not, on her own. with the stolen liquor clanking around in her backpack, she got into her car and sped over to the abandoned parking lot where they were meeting. she still didn’t get it, why adam was so paranoid. it was just alcohol, it wasn’t really that illegal. but she wanted the sale, needed the money, so she agreed. “of course it’s me,” she rolled her eyes slightly, opening the back door to her car to grab her backpack. “you’ve got to learn to not be so paranoid about doing something wrong.” she told him, “if you lose that paranoia everything becomes way more fun.” she unzipped her bag, “you have the money?”

poppy felt a rush of heat to her face and neck, feeling a sudden metallic taste in her mouth— she was definitely blushing and it was not cute in any type of way. she felt slightly indignant, feeling that her feathers were slightly ruffled by someone who obviously knew more than her and thought of her as a child. she jutted out her chin, obviously not liking her reception. “well, i know nothing about alcohol or getting drunk to start off, or whatever the purposes are for…this.” she replied rather tensely, but softened with a small ‘thank you’ as the girl handed her the menu. her lack of human knowledge was showing by this point, but she was too tired to care. she was never one to get angry at others so she scanned the menu, her eyes flitting up and down the laminated paper. she had absolutely no idea what any of those words meant—honestly, she was rather craving a chocolate milkshake more than anything—but listened to the girl. “oh, okay,” she nodded to the recommendation of a … cherry something. if she didn’t like it, she didn’t have to drink it, right? “i guess i’ll have that…not too much alcohol though, right? what’s your favorite drink? is the cherry thing even good?” questions were spilling out of her and if it wasn’t clear now, it was obvious that she was nervous.
“i can tell.” cora quipped when poppy stated she knew nothing about alcohol, that much was obviously to anyone really paying attention. cora dealt with a lot of people during her shifts, people who didn’t know anything, people who knew too much. every walk of life came through the bar, and she always had some judgement of each and every one of them. “well, what are you trying to accomplish? are you trying to get blackout drunk, or just a little tipsy?” she asked, “do you want to end your night in bed with a stranger, or streaking in front of the police station?” cora asked all the important questions. “i’ll make you that margarita, with barely any alcohol in it. and you look over the menu while i do that.” she explained to her. “i’m not much of a fruity drinker, i like whiskey and beer. sometimes wine. if you’re looking for something that tastes good i would get a mudslide, they’re pretty good frozen. doesn’t even taste like it has alcohol in it honestly.” cora told her over the sound of the blender.

@adamforaday
cora was a bartender, she could do anything with her life, she could go to school and get as many degrees as she wanted, or be anything she wanted. yet, she chose this, she chose to stand behind a bar and wait on people. it wasn’t glamorous, but she enjoyed it. it was easy, and she made a lot of money. but sometimes, it wasn’t enough. it wasn’t enough of a rush, not enough adrenaline to get her through her every day life. so she indulged in more things, things that were illegal. she hadn’t been caught, so it was fine. it wasn’t like she was doing anything horrible, she wasn’t killing people or robbing banks. just robbing people, and liquor stores. just one small sleight of hand and she could have someone’s wallet without them even knowing. in her mind, she wasn’t doing anything wrong, she was just enjoying life.
when approached by adam, she didn’t think twice about saying no. it was easy money. all she had to do was buy him alcohol and he would pay her for it. but there wasn’t enough profit there in her mind. she wanted to make more money. she waited until the bar was closing down, she was the only one there and the cameras were off for the night. no one watched them anyways, so it’s not like she would get into any trouble. looking around to make sure there was no one - she knew there wasn’t, but was just being careful - she slipped a few bottles into her backpack, clocked out and walked out to her car. easy money.
harrisonhqs:
it wasn’t until a clearly belligerent bartender started demanding what kind of drink he’d like that harrison was drawn away from worrying about the stresses of the past twelve hours. it wasn’t common for the hospital’s perpetual stink of antiseptic and mundane glow of fluorescent light bulbs to dig enough underneath his skin that he was driven to go to a bar like this, desperate to over-correct. it was embarrassingly reminiscent of his college years. “ fuck, sorry, ” he said finally, shaking his head and trying an apologetic smile. “ some whiskey would be fantastic. ”
“don’t worry about it.” she said with a nonchalant shrug, it had been a long day for her, and she was making her way into the night. nighttime was her favorite part of the day, but it was always the busiest. people making mistakes, getting into fights and vomiting on the floor, not her favorite. she nodded when he asked for whiskey, grabbing a cup from the shelf beneath the bar and a bottle of whiskey from the counter behind her. “if i wasn’t working you could be your ass i’d be pouring myself one of these.” she said with a slight laugh, pushing the glass towards him before putting away the bottle.
bloodyrcses:
this was so not his scene that it was almost funny , the blonde trying not to roll his eyes at the group of coworkers he’d come with they were currently dancing in a drunken circle out on the crowded floor , && mikhail had spent a large portion of the night just cringing at their antics. he was completely sure he was the designated driver for the night , as he always was , but he needed at least one drink to take the edge off. he leaned over the counter as well , raising his voice , despite that being out of his comfort zone. “ i said i’ll just take a beer , please. ” he didn’t like being so loud or drawing attention to himself , but there was obviously no choice here. he cleared his throat , pulling on the soft cotton of his v-neck tee as he waited for his drink.
cora offered him a slight smile, “sure thing.” anyone in a hundred miles could tell that he was out of his comfort zone. cora saw this kind of thing all the time, people being dragged in by their friends, or with work, people who didn’t like to drink sitting at the bar for no reason. everyone had their own reasons and cora just loved to investigate, prying into the lives of strangers was one of her favorite things to do. she grabbed him a beer from the cooler, cracked the top off and placed it in front of him. “so, you don’t look like you’re having any fun at all.” she cooed, looking over to the group of drunk dancers. “you’re just sitting here when you could be making a complete fool of yourself like those people.”

her gaze was transfixed on the many liquors the bar kept in stock; she wasn’t too familiar with the bar setting, or any large social setting at all. it was clear to anybody with eyes that the petite brunette was out of place and had no real awareness of what she was doing. her floral dress didn’t match the attire of those around her, and neither did her minimal makeup. she had sat down at the bar because she didn’t really like the idea dancing all too much; she was trying out a statistic and also curing her own curiosity. twenty three percent of couples her age met their significant other in a social setting similar to this one, and after questioning her roommate he tentatively told her that this establishment was an option because it was already eight at night when she was pestering him with questions. as she felt a presence leaning towards her, she decided to ignore it in favor of her thoughts. but the figure suddenly snapped with a irritated tone and poppy reluctantly d r a g g e d herself back into reality, jumping at the sound of the bartender snarling at her. “oh, um,” she didn’t know anything about alcohol—why did she even choose to come? “a…rootbeer? and, uh…pardon me for asking, but do you have a list of drinks somewhere?“
“a rootbeer.” cora repeated her own words back to her, “you came to a club for a rootbeer?” she raised an eyebrow, “did you come to make a playdate with a nice boy too?” she bit back her own laughter, obviously this girl didn’t know what she was doing here. cora wasn’t one to offer advice, but she picked up the menu and handed it to her. “i’d suggest maybe a margarita or another mixed drink, don’t want to go too hard since this is obviously your first time. how about a cherry frozen margarita? tastes good, and it’s got a pretty good amount of alcohol in it.” she offered, trying to get the girl to try something more fun. she was big into corrupting people, besides she needed the upsell, she didn’t want to wait around refilling the poor girls rootbeer when she could be making better tips somewhere else, “so, what do you say? feeling adventerous?”
it was tempting to roll his eyes, but eric refrained from doing so. “i know.” he indulged in a little scoffing — “good news is i didn’t do it for you” — but he wasn’t in the mood for their usual enmity and spoke to her with something like friendly playfulness. he jokingly explained his “actual” motivation for tripping the old man: “his jacket is made out of real fur, which is animal cruelty, and it clashes with the rest of his outfit, which is just atrocious. he had that coming, and worse.” eric was tired and needed time for relaxation. “what are the drinks on your day menu?”
cora listened to him list of the reasons to why he wasn’t doing it for her and she had to hold back a laugh. “right, of course, you would never do anything for me.” she smirked at him, their mutual hatred for each other almost made her happy in a way. she quite enjoyed being able to continuously hate on someone without them taking any offense. sure, it was nice to see people cry and run away from her, but this was nice too. “when did you become such an animal rights activist?” she rolled her eyes, picking up the menu next to her, “you can read can’t you?”
Aaron was a bit taken aback by her apparent impatience. He thought quickly. “Umm…I’ll just have whatever saison you recommend” he said. He knew he could have been a jerk and made her wait while he figured out what he really wanted, but that wasn’t his style.
“great.” cora nodded, turning around to grab him a drink, one of her own personal favorites and something ordered quite frequently by customers. “so, what brings you out tonight?” usually she didn’t interest herself in the lives of others, but work was different. work was boring, she had to find some way to skate by.
“what are you drinking tonight?” cora asked, leaning slightly over the bar counter. the music was h e a v y, and people were dancing everywhere. it was loud and hot, the air conditioners were working overtime ( but the humidity could still be felt in the air. ) the place was crowded, like always, with people all so close to one another. cora normally enjoyed that environment, but tonight, she was glad to be on the other side. she tried not to snap at people at work, but it was hard for her. when people took too long to order, or didn’t speak loud enough for her to hear them, “are you going to order or not?” cora rolled her eyes, sick of this night already.
“Oh, are you that way with every aspect of your life?” Sariel quirked an eyebrow. Once answered, the angel placed the drink order. “A very flaky friend not wanting to get drinks? I gotta say, you’re really selling me on this friend of yours,” the angel sarcastically remarked. Ze let out a hum at the question. “I’d say I’m taking the night off to enjoy myself, but that isn’t entirely true. I’m also scoping out the competition.” With that, ze nodded towards the DJ setting up their equipment near the dance floor.
“of course,” cora smirked, she did everything with a well executed plan, her movements graceful and calculated, exactly how she wanted them to be. everything always worked out for her. “they’re alright, but they never want to go out. not really what i’m looking for in a friend.” cora told her, taking a sip of her drink the second it was delivered. with zir head turn, cora looked up on stage, nodding, “oh, i see. so you’re a DJ. that must be why you look so familiar.”
the brunette cocked up her eyebrows in curiosity. the fact that cora knew she was a bad bitch enlightened astrid. though it did intimidate her at times. “ just promise me you aren’t trying to hook me up … ” she held up her pinky. “ and that we won’t end up in prison. ”
“im not trying to hook you up, just myself.” cora shrugged, she was always looking for her next hook up. “and come on, what are the chances we’re going to land in prison again- besides, i got us out last time.”
i would love some more plots/connections with my characters (cora/lex/beth) so like this to plot!
A chuckle passed zir lips at the list of drinks. “Seems like you’ve already got a game plan for the night. What flavor of margarita do you like, and frozen or on the rocks?” Sariel smirked at the offer. “Gin and tonic for me…so who was the flake on the other line?”
“i always have a game plan.” cora smirked, “strawberry and on the rocks please.” when ze mentioned her flake she rolled her eyes a little bit, “just a friend, a very flaky friend. who didn’t want to get drinks.” she leaned against the bar, “so what are you doing out tonight?”
Sariel looked at the exchange happening between a rather bewitching woman and a person on the other line. Since the woman was sitting right beside Sariel, the angel decided to pipe up. “If they’re bailing out on you, I’m free to provide some company,” ze started with a smirk. “What are you drinking?”
cora hung up her phone in a huff, sliding it into her pocket. it was that second that someone else chose to begin speaking to her. she turned, ready to yell at zir until ze backed up. “a few margaritas and then probably a few shots if i’m feeling fiesty.” cora winked, “can i buy you a drink?”
