@fckrj
time to fill my blog with fodder bc fc change and slight personality tweakage.
RJ really, really just wanted to go him. He had been on the road for far too many hours to count and he still had blood that wasn’t his flaking off his skin. Still, he couldn’t just ignore the eruption of fire that was aimed towards the center of the road. Stopping the car and sighing as he got out, RJ addressed the hot-headed individual inconveniencing him. “Can I help you?”
“I get it’s a lockdown and all but losing the ability to have fun seems like a common theme around here. I’ve been to dentist appointments more exciting than this and I bit my dentist for five years. We had a complicated relationship. My point is – excite me.”
“You’re mistaking me for someone else, I’m not here to excite anyone.”
“Well if I see a child,I’ll relay the message to them. How’s that?”
“Of course, let me know when you pass a mirror and the streets will be safer for sure.”
He can’t really say no without giving away his inhumanness and so he nods slowly. Honestly, he wants to run and hide. Run to Eve because what if they get hurt him? What if he hurts them? It’s actually terrifying. He’s a horrible liar. Well, when he spoke he’d been horrible at it but now – now words didn’t even flow from his lips despite what he could create people think.
Taking the cue to enter, RJ followed the man. Unsure if he should just sit on the furniture without being prompted, he opted to stand. Fiddling with the tablet, he filled out the address and the 6 months residency that he already knew. “Okay, so here goes. And you can chill man, it’s not that serious. 1. Have you ever been in contact with an inhuman who is also a resident of New York .slash. Are you an inhuman who is a resident of New York? And how would you rate your experience with said inhuman living in New York .slash. How would you rate your time in New York since the change?” He drummed his fingers on the edge of the tablet, ready to paraphrase the man’s answers.
“Play extreme hide and seek of course. That always puts me in a better mood.”
“Of course, silly me. Forget practicing gun control, let’s just hand out dangerous toys to children.
“Would I recommend this graveyard to someone…” She repeated back to him, narrowing her eyes. “It’s a nice place, I guess.”
RJ nodded earnestly, jotting down her affirmation. “Great, great. What would you say is the best perk? Location? Accomodies? Ease of service?” It was never easy choosing a final resting place and he, particularly, did not have anyone to visit his grave upon death, but he would still consider all factors.
There is hesitation as he asks the question, her mind racing at the possibility that he, somehow, knows what she’s kept mostly to herself. But the feeling vanishes just as far as it came at the following comment, her eyes rolling in exasperation. No doubt someone enjoyed getting on her nerves.
“Vega, and that’s because I don’t run around like a wild animal, scaring them. Just tell me why we’re here and let’s get this over with.”
RJ waits impatiently as she just blinks and time is wasted. How he’s going to find a compatible pet now is beyond him, but he’s quite literally half-in the store so he might as well finish up so he can go back to the rest of his life.
“Okay, but you own like a small zoo so you’ve got to be good for something.
Can you get in through this window or do you need help?”
vega;
“Still as annoying as ever, I see. I can’t picture anyone wanting to have sex with an emotionless rock such as yourself, but to each their own, they say. Also, my personality is very lovely, thank you very much.”
“I wish I knew who you were talking about because I thought it was pre-established that I was the angry one so there only leaves you to be the annoying one. You’re alright, don’t get a big head.”
i tried to expose kat but then i got called off work. hello
Are you looking for someone?
Tugging the door closer to him, Elijah’s eyes widened. If he didn’t know Anna… Eve had taught him to be wary of strangers, especially with the Anti-Changed group. What if he was someone who wanted to capture him? What if he knew who Elijah was?
Taking in the clear unease on the other man’s face, RJ sighed and lifted the tablet to eye level between them. “I was... yes. But if you’re the new inhabitants of this unit you’ll do just fine. I work for the government and I’m doing a census.” In hindsight, RJ should have started with that, but his census was anything but conventional. Not to mention that is was, basically, sponsored by the higher ups, it was a waste of his time to be set on such a lowly task of taking down answers to questions that should have just been sent in the mail.
“It’s just about your opinions and ideas on the inhuman. Do you mind if I take a moment of your time?”
Pulling back slightly, his fingers curled around the edge of the door with a frown. Nodding slightly, he looked at the man. Who on Earth was this? Unless they were here to see Anna – in which she’d have probably told him that someone was coming around and not made him open the door to a stranger.
For the last six months with my roommate. Her name is Anna Fitz.
Eyeing the nervous man, RJ nodded though he did not know anyone named Anna. Looking down at the tablet in his hands, he shifted the weight of his body from one foot to the other.
“That’s real touching and all... but can I come in? I think you’ll do just fine.”
❝— with great powers, comes great responsibility. What kind of responsibility do I have if the only thing I can do is turn into an animal?❞
❝— did you just say ‘turn into an animal’? you can’t be serious...❞
There’s a reason he doesn’t wear short sleeved shirts. Because scars are married into his skin and they remind him of his past, present and future. From the dark brown ones from years ago to ones that still have flecks of blood onto them. Elijah’s fingers trace across his countertop, before the delicate sound of his doorbell rings and he pulled it open. One of his arms leaned against the frame of the door before he looked at them.
Can I help you?
RJ had knocked confidently, but as he found that someone other than who he was expecting answering the door, he frowned. This had been happening a lot lately, as if some higher power was driving him to do things out of the ordinary or plans not going quite according to plan - it was quite the hassle to be frank.
“You live here?” he asked rather accusingly.
fingers curled around the cigarette between his lips, leaving a trail of smoke as he pulled it away. an inhale of the cancerous smoke, gaze shifting over the man that stood before him, lips curving into a smirk as the smoke fell from his nostrils. stepping forward, he titled his head to the side, tongue snaking over to move across his lips. his mind mulled over the question, debating on whether or not to give up the man that had moments before run past him, panting and sweating. he didn’t care the story, didn’t care which had been at fault; it all came down to whether or not xavier was a snitch.
“ maybe i have. maybe i haven’t.
what’s it to you? “
focus shifting from the hunt to the individual literally standing in the way between him and his job. assessing the circumstances and remembering what he took away from the required anger management courses rj stopped and stood a reasonable distance from the stranger.
“the person i’m looking for is wanted for frying up their family, after, what we think, was an argument that got out of hand at the dinner table. grandma, the kids, 2 and 8, and both parents fried to a crisp. A death sentence they didn’t deserve.”
