Daemon was a little surprised when Elena had came up to him for her break,but he wasn’t going to turn her away or anything. He really didn’t mind talking to her, he actually enjoyed it, though then again he enjoyed talking to most people. “I don’t think it is a bad idea at all. I am also pretty sure you are capable enough to keep control over your power. Or even just the scares in the haunted house. I came through and although it was pretty scary, it wasn’t frighten to death scary.” He shrugged his shoulders and crossed his arms over his chest. “Are you having a hard time as it is or anything? Or do you think you are doing okay?”

Somehow, she felt like she could trust Daemon with a lot of things. And despite not often interacting with people, she sometimes needed to talk with others, so that’s perhaps why he was one of the first she’d go to when there was something on her mind. “I guess. It’s not like I’m holding on people that long.” She said with a small nod, still, she couldn’t stop fidgeting with her fingers. “Guess I’m just... nervous because I was never really able to control through touch. That’s why I’m usually always wearing gloves.”

Desiree had heard the haunted house was pretty scary, but moments in and she was confused as to why they had thought so. It was dark, and certainly colder than outside, but she had figured something would have jumped out by now. Maybe that was the point though. Reaching her arm out to try and find a wall, she was taken off guard when a hand reached out and grabbed her arm, her eyes widening and she quickly tried to pull her arm away. When her arm was then let go instead, she stumbled back and hit the wall. “Fuck..” She said as she rubbed the back of her head. Her eyes met Elena’s in the dark, laughing softly as she gained her balance. “What? Not the person you expected to come through here?” 

Elena was at a loss of words for a moment. It’s not that she was surprised to see her here - she did expect her to come at one point - but she didn’t expect her now. Thought she’d tell her before coming to avoid this situation to happen. “I just... didn’t expect you now. I thought it was someone else.” She said, trying to keep her voice low. Just in case, you know, there was someone else going through the haunted house, she didn’t want to spoil the surprise. “Well, don’t just stay there. I’ll come join you in a minute.”

“Please save me, there is a little girl following me around. She desperately wants me to win a stuffed bear for her and I don’t have the heart to tell her I am a terrible shot.” Zander spoke frantically to the girl. He had finally ditched his follower but she was sure to pop up again. “I’ll buy you food.”

“So what? You want me to win that stuffed bear for her?” Elena asked, an eyebrow raised in his direction. “Or maybe you’d rather I induce some fear in her mind so she’d leave you alone?” Neither of which she wanted to do. Particularly not the last one. “But I’ll take the food.”

She quite enjoyed the Haunted House, and was the only reason she even showed up to the carnival. But there was something about that attraction that Elena particularly liked, and she just found herself volunteering for it. Although staying there could get really long, so she was thankful for the breaks she’d get once in a while. And her current break, she was spending it with Daemon. She couldn’t quite tell why, but she enjoyed his company, in a way. “Do you think it’s a bad idea I’m volunteering here? I mean... who’s to say I won’t just lose control and frighten someone to death?”

Contemplating the water gun stand, Elena didn’t even look at him, just continued staring at the younger mutant playing the game. “Which one do you think is easier to shot: a water gun, or a real gun?”

After grabbing a drink, Elena made her way to a more secluded area of the carnival. The Haunted House was already loud enough, she was definitely not going to spend her breaks wandering through an even louder place. Plus, she wasn’t really keen on social events, to begin with. But she’d barely even sat that the girl noticed someone close. “Please, don’t lecture me about how I’m being anti-social in this place. This is just... not my scene.”

Alright, boring day almost over, Desiree was finally making her way to the haunted house. She was mostly on her way to find Elena, but she figured she could probably check it out while she was there. Besides, Elena was bound to be inside somewhere anyways. Walking into the dark place, she took a look around, the best she could anyways. She had always loved haunted houses when she was younger, so she hoped Elena and the others running it could really make this worth her time. Crossing her arms over her chest, she made her way further in.

The downside of working at the Haunted House was that hiding behind the decor, Elena could barely see the people coming by. There was only one very small opening for her to fully see the person when she’d reach out to grab them. And that was usually a last minute thing, since she was more focused on grabbing the person to scare them - plus, she did take off the gloves for a little added scare. So obviously, She could only realize it was Desiree after she’d already touched her arm. And almost immediately, she released her grip. “Oh, shit.”

“Yeah I’m British and yeah I’m a newbie. Course I’m gonna ‘ave questions.” Adam retorted, shrugging. He wasn’t fazed at all by ‘her’, she had a problem that had nothing to do with him. He was helping with the West Wing repairs and wasn’t going to risk his lungs to do it; that’s the way the cookie crumbled. “I mean if you don’t want that West Wing cleared faster jus’ say.”

“Questions’ fine. Being an annoying prick’s on you though.” She let out with a heavy sigh. Maybe if she used her power on him, he’d finally leave. But from experience, that was never much of a good idea. “Not what I said. I just don’t know where. Or do you need me to hold your hand as I lead you to security?”

Oohh. Well, Adam couldn’t not smile as he got sarkiness slung right back. “An’ here I am, askin’, love. Time of the month or boyfriend problems, I don’t care, jus’ don’t take ‘em out on me and we’ll be good eh.” He shrugged, standing up from the doorframe and folding his fingers together across his stomach. “So where do I get the extra PPE?”

Leaning back in her chair, Elena glared at him. “Neither. I’d say more like British newbie problem.” After how welcoming the Underground had been to her, making an effort to welcome newcomers would be the least she could do. But clearly, she wasn’t up for it that day. “Just ask security. They know more than I do.”

“Alright, let’s see how far this thing can get us then.” She pushed her foot down on the gas more, reaching a hand up to adjust the mirror. If they ran out of gas somewhere, she could just simply get them another car. Or maybe even jump on a train and ride it all the way back. With the gas they had though, they could at least get a couple hours way from that place, far enough they wouldn’t have to worry about anyone finding them. Though unless she wanted to get caught by Sentinel, or the police, she should probably slow down. Her foot lifted off the gas a bit as she drove down the road, turning onto the first highway they came across. 

When Desiree pushed on the gas, she could feel herself pushed back against her seat. Her head turned to look at her friend, almost saying something, but she stopped herself before she did. Even though she could tell the speed they were going at was probably suspicious, she wasn’t going to stop her. It was only when she released the gas a little that Elena finally said something, completely unrelated. “We could just leave. Go as far as this car can take us, and then keep on going farther.” It’s not that she didn’t like the Underground, but that many mutants in one place seemed like a bad idea.

“More than anything in the world.” Okay, that was a lie, but she certainly wasn’t against annoying her. It had become a hobby in the past few weeks. Nevaeh would annoy her, she would then annoy Nevaeh right back and it was an ongoing cycle that probably would never die. She could just ignore it, maybe it would be easy, but for some reason that had been taken out as a possibility a while ago and now anytime they were around each other, something had to be said. 

“I would say I’m honoured, but since it’s only you...” She replied, her head softly tilting to the side. She was almost certain if someone were to walk in, they’d easily be able to feel the tension in the air. Although now that she was thinking about it, she couldn’t even recall how it all began. Probably something she did, or say. She heard she could come off the wrong way to people.

Santi pursed his lips with a small sigh, nodding. “Right, right, you got it. My bad.” he said, moving to the side a bit , raising his eyebrows.  “Whatcha reachin for?” he asked, realizing how nosy that sounded.

She stepped closer once he moved. “The sauce over there.” She said, trying to reach it but she could barely even touch it. “Making myself pasta, and if you grab it for me... I can give you a portion.”

“Okay, but what I’m hearing is — Sloan, you were right the whole time, like usual, and what I have learned from this is that I should always listen to you from now on instead of denying and arguing like a little bitch.”

“That’s a little excessive when all you did was tell me fries tasted better when you add salt onthem.” Elena replied, clearly not in the mood to praise someone for just that one small tip.

She put the car in reverse as she watched her friend get in. “I’m not sticking around long enough to find out.” Moving out of the parking spot, she quickly put the car in drive and made her way out of the parking lot, making sure that if she were to pass whoever it was that had heard them, she didn’t make eye contact with them. Not only because she didn’t want them to know who they were, of it had been Sentinel agents, she may have not been able to keep back the little power of hers. Once out of the parking lot, she let out a small sigh of relief and drove down the road, looking over at her. “Anywhere in particular you’d like to go? This thing has like three fourths of a tank.”

“Good, because I don’t want to find out either.” To avoid making any contact with the strangers, if they were to pass them by, Elena looked down, pretending she was texting or looking at her phone. That wasn’t anything suspicious to do for a passenger in a car, right? “I don’t mind. As far away as possible, it’s not like I know many places around here.” Not originally from here, the girl only knew about the places she took illegal trips to with Desiree. But she felt like going to new places, they sounded more like a thrilling adventure.

Adam found a room before he found anyone else. Well…no one else alone. He wasn’t gonna ask a randomer in a group and look like the cliché newbie that knew nothing. He rapped on the door and stood against the frame, hands in his jeans pockets as the brunette behind the desk sighed in that way: the way that pretty much said “fuck off” where he came from. The snippy reply got a double brow raise from him and an almost daring look.

“Dunno what’s crawled up your ass love but it ain’t got nothin’ to do with me.” Adam said, the shrug in his voice instead of his shoulders. “And I’d be happy to help clean the cave in but, you see, ain’t doin’ it without any PPE.”

She gave a quick eyeroll once she understood this chat wasn’t going to be over quick. Shame, she was really getting into that book, but seemed she’d have to postpone it to later. Marking her page with one of her hands, she let the book close over her fingers. Well, here’s to hoping she’d be able to get her focus right back into the story once he was gone.

“Well, you were the one to interrupt me when I was clearly doing something. So it’s got everything to do with you, love.” She replied, mocking his tone on the last word. “You know that’s something you can ask for? I’m sure they’ve got some they could lend you.”

She had tried, really hard to avoid the conversation with the other girl, though she knew it was most likely unavoidable. Still however, she let out a soft groan as she heard the other speak up. “As much as I love annoying you, I have no reason to follow you. I have better ways to spend my time.” She forced a small smile, obviously fake, to the other girl before returning to her task at hand. To get food in her. Some people at the underground were worse than her, so why she had grown such and urge to dislike her, Nevaeh wasn’t sure. Or at least deep down she wasnt sure.

Why she spoke up, that was a mystery. Honestly, she’d much rather avoid interactions, particularly with her. But she did, and despite trying to focus on the snack she was preparing for herself, she had to deal with the outcome now. With yet another sigh, Elena turned to look straight at the other. “So you admit it, you do take pleasure in annoying me.” Well, that was never really a doubt she had, but she would certainly enjoy hearing the other admit it.
