Max Verstappen is a pop star from a once-popular group. after the breakup seven years ago, Max had managed to come to terms with his status as a “former” star. after meeting a young celebrity - Kimi Antonelli - Max gets a chance to reclaim his old fame, but to do that, he has to write a song for Kimi in just five days. the problem is that Max hasn’t written a song in over five years.
and then George appears in Verstappen’s life - a guy who waters the plants in his apartment. George studied literature at university, but after failures in his personal life, he became insecure about his own abilities. working together, the two of them manage to write the song “way back into love” in just a few days.
but then Kimi changes the arrangement, turning the romantic ballad into a tasteless mix of Indian music and hard rock. Max doesn’t want to tell the star that he hates the change in the song’s style, and because of that, a conflict breaks out between Max and George.
Kimi invites them to his concert, where the new song is supposed to premiere. at the concert, when Kimi announces “Max Verstappen’s new song,” George tries to leave, believing that Max has “stolen” credit for the lyrics from him. but Max, sitting down at the piano, sings a completely different song instead — one in which he confesses his love for George.
backstage, Max tells George that no one has ever been such an inspiration to him, and also that Kimi restored their song’s original arrangement because he was moved by the feelings of its writers.
