some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

Starting Fall 2021, SCC is offering tuition-free institutional scholarships to all students throughout the 2021-2022 academic year!

Spartanburg Community College is offering free tuition to any in-person AND remote students for the next year. You must enroll in at least six credit hours and have exhausted all other grants, aid, and scholarships (like Pell grants). You have to fill out a FAFSA. You don’t have to live in South Carolina or be an in-person student. This would be an amazing opportunity to pick up some additional credits, finish a degree, or dip your foot back into education if you’ve been away for a while. It would also be a GREAT way to start a degree- community college credits do frequently transfer to other universities, and SCC offers several associates degrees. Not everybody needs college, but in the US, the pressure to go right after high school is super intense. A program like this means that if you’re not sure if college is the right path for you, or maybe not just the right path for you right now, you don’t have to get ears-deep in loans. You can try a year for free and see how you do. That’s pretty cool.

Plot twist: if you are tired and burned out, resting is literally the most productive thing you can do. You ain’t gonna get shit done when you’re burned out. If you do, it’ll take three times as long, take even more energy out of you, and will also suck because you were too tired to do it well. When you’re too tired to do the things you want/need to do, resting is the first step.
