The world is upside down. A canvas of broken lines and shattered dreams, abandoned hopes and failed aspirations. You've known that since the earliest days of your childhood.
Life has never been right.
Not to you, not to anyone you’ve met thus far. Something was always off about it—whether it be the strange scent of copper that befell your hometown at the end of the week, or the flickering of lights across the dark horizon on starless nights in particular.
You’ve experienced countless of ‘those situations’ others would call paranormal. To you, however, and to many other citizens of good Old Hillford, these were day to day occurrences.
For as long as you can remember, you've heard the sweet-nothing-filled whispers of spectres, preventing you from ever fully achieving rest.
No one has ever bat an eye as you talked about it, the most people did was nod along knowingly, whilst the very shadows behind you watched the display.
Dancing along the walls and floors as if agreeing. Latching onto you as you took your leave, as if to leech your life away with their frozen, groping fingers.
Life has never been just.
Chained to a bed, trapped in a chamber of contorted hallucinations, you've always been plagued by a sickness for as long as you can remember.
Disease has claimed your bones and blood alike.
You've seen death approach countless times before, creeping in through your wide open window as you dozed off into a deep slumber. There was no such feeling of dread gripping your soul when faced with its cold embrace—even though people always mention it.
All it did was to tell you, in a deeply solemn tone, that existence can never be fair. That the grave is always a set hour away.
And yet, despite everything that happened, you’d say that life has been good to you.
You've experienced all the love, all the happiness, all the comfort you could throughout your childhood, throughout the short adult life you've had.
It was a wonderland, a fantasy, a dream. It was all you could ever wish for. All of it has been enjoyed thoroughly, to the best of your abilities.
Until your heart burst with joy, and your body collapsed with applauding, rattling bones.
Life has come to a halt. A finish. An end.
Except that... it hasn't. Not fully, anyway. It keeps going, faster and brighter. Too confusing to fully grasp. Although the dream, in fact, has died. Has turned into a nightmare—a confusing, haunting tale of growling beasts, biting demons, and golden ichor.
And it all started with your solemn awakening in the catacombs of your hometown. Disoriented, disordered, dispossessed of your heart.

A vampire, as well as an old, dear friend.
They’ve always worn their heart out on their sleeve, perhaps a bit more than they should. Although not being known as particularly bright-minded, they are extremely caring and high-spirited.

A mysterious demon, who seems to know a bit too much about you, considering you’ve never met before.
They carry themselves in an overly elegant manner, though their poised behaviour can’t hide the fact that they’re inept at human interaction...
Percival Chéreau
Better known by their nickname, Perce—they are an exceptionally outspoken human, stemming from a rather peculiar spiritual group.
With a personality as eclectic as their wardrobe, they seem to know many things, though whether they’ll share that knowledge in ways you can easily understand is another matter entirely.
Ezra
A rather feisty... uh, werewolf?—that crossed your path.
Quick tempered and brash, they don’t tend to measure words when speaking; regardless of the harsh exterior, they are secretly soft-hearted and thoughtful.

There will be yes! we wanted to include an extra scene with Oli where you could talk about it but we haven't figured out where yet 😩

Oli definitely loves the more chill games like stardew and animal crossing
Ezra likes action games the most, specially fantasy themed ones
Umbra and Lazarus would obsess over nintendogs or any other virtual pets. They don't believe the fact that it can't die, that it wouldn't be that realistic, and thus they will obsess to the point of setting an alarm to feed the baby in time. The dog probably has a very human name like Hank.
Perce is really good at strategy games especially if they come with a twist (thinking abt that first person shooter chess game)
Arek cries over the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games like real men do
I can see Lailah play Elden Ring or any other Dark Souls game and get 100% frustrated with every single boss (You call this an RPG, what role am I playing? The victim????)
Oli: their family already has a very feisty bird which would probably not appreciate any other animal entering her territory
Ezra: would like a cat, perhaps several
Lazarus: I can easily imagine them having a snake draped around their neck or some other reptile on their shoulder
Umbra: A small lap-dog, or a couple of mellow rats to carry around with them and teach tricks
Perce: Although somewhat of a pipe dream (they could probably make it work somehow. We're talking about Perce of all people here), they would love having a swarm of bats following them around at all times. An owl as a backup plan (they have the same big, curious eyes).
Lailah: Is not too good with animals, but if she had to, really HAD to pick... Cats have very squishable faces.
Arek: If you date him and tell him you like animals he'll bring home ANYTHING he finds in the woods to show off to you and maybe keep as a pet. But do you really want to keep that hawk clawing at his arm? Do you really want to see that bear cub grow up into an apex predator? Do you really— You get the point, don't you?
Ezra: It pains me to say this but probably engineering

Laz: Architecture bc how hard can it be to build some stupid houses?? And then they realise that oh. You actually have to do shit :/ and then they never show up for classes again <3 probably makes an OF who knows

Lailah: If she were a regular human with a regular ole life I think she'd be a great athlete (WAY WAY competitive tho. girl calm it killing is against the rules)
It's not that straight people are blind, it's just that they have absolutely no clue what gay or bisexual mean. For example, many of them believe that all submissive men are simultaneously gay men and also straight women.
It's not even that straight ppl dont 'get' what it means it's just that the homophobic ones can't accept anything that differs from their 'normal'. And then if they have to see anything that makes them think abt something outside of their normal they become rabid.
Does blind not apply here? Blind can describe a mindset, an attitude. They choose to be blind. They're not stupid, they're just hateful.

They will be I prommy I'll update the pinned post eventually 😭 but yeah, they're characters that we decided more recently to turn into ROs so that explains why they're not there!! Also not to dunk on that anon again but they're both GAY tyvm

Umbra - They're used to bitter dishes, so some teas and most coffee will fit their palate. Although, one day they just might have to try a hot chocolate with tiny animal marshmallows and colourful sprinkles... how can they not indulge in something as delightful as THIS? It might unlock a sweet tooth and prolonged cravings.
Lazarus - Herbal teas with a mild flavour, which they then completely fuck up by pouring copious amounts of sugar in (they'd probably really enjoy boba tea). And if it's not tea from fancy cups, then mayhaps wine directly from the bottle.
Perce - Coffee, but so far removed from the concept of it. They're unfortunately the kind of person to walk into a Starbucks at 4 in the morning and then order the longest list of ingredients. Then come back the next day and get only ice cubes. Nothing else. Just ice cubes in a cup. And they always give the workers the most outlandish names.
Ezra - They need at least one cup of coffee everyday, lest they get even more grumpy. It can't be too hot or bitter though or it'll have the opposite effect.
Arek - He needs coffee to survive at this point. Absolutely will die otherwise. Even though it makes his stomach rather upset. Would also take one (or more) proper sip from Laz's bottle, and come to immediately regret it.
Lailah - She doesn't have a preference, or at least she doesn't openly voice it. You can catch her softly humming whilst enjoying a cup of spiced hot chocolate, however.

Ezra: we're both too prideful and grouchy for anything probably
Umbra: also 10/10 spouse material, they're so calm 😩... we'd just be chilling (I feel like it'd take SO long for us to even talk with each other though)
Perce: as much as I love them to bits I don't think I would even talk to them cuz they intimidate me (have you seen them) w their existence also if we ever talked I probably would use up all my braincells at once and they're not that many
Lazarus: im way too easily irritated to deal with them but also my whole family is obnoxious too and I can deal with it so I'm not sure honestly
Lailah: we are not coming any closer than 5 feet of each other I take one look at her and perish on the spot
