Arcade Fire went to Haiti, got inspired, and decided to "experiment" by hiring two Haitian drummers "to give their album a voodoo-like feel". Also, they denounced their previous selves, became The Reflektors, and started performing with extras bobbing around in giant white men heads. Is this blatant cultural appropriation? Commentary? Artistic identity crisis? Really, what gives Butler boys? I used to be a fan.

You may have seen Johanna Blakley’s TED talk titled, ‘Lessons from Fashion’s Free Culture’, where she argued that other industries should look to emulate the relative lack of intellectual property protection characteristic of the fashion industry. She says this lack of regulation has encouraged innovation. I say, bullshit. As a fashion industry insider, I’d like to take a cue from celebrity culture and trademark the shit out of everything. Trey Songz is not selling bowling shirts. Trey Songz would never sell bowling shirts. So how can someone be selling bowling shirts supposedly trademarked with MY signature catchphrase? Pretty in Pink?
All my life I've wondered why pink? Growing up it was all pink toys, pink clothes, pink furniture, pink everything! I was always being told that pink was what I needed to have, that choosing something blue or green wasn't "good" for me. It wasn't until I got older that I realized that it wasn't just my family and friends telling me what to have, but every entity in society was trying to push me into a world of pink. I even realized that I could find the same products sold to me, a woman, as something different, simply because of the color. I am calling for the removal of intellectual property rights for all things that tie pink to womanhood as they unfairly confine us to a life of being brainwashed into the femininity that has been linked to the color of pink through these unfair corporate manipulations.

Colin Kapernick: San Francisco 49ers
Tattoos have become an accepted form of self expression in modern society. No longer are stars, like my client, Colin Kapernick, judged as harshly for being covered in tattoos. I would go as far to say that tattoos are now accepted as art forms. And that is exactly what they are: MY art. Copyright is supposed to protect original works of art that are fixed in a tangible form of expression. There is no question that these pieces are my original work and modern day tattoo removal is not advanced enough to remove the extensive work on Colin's body.
Kapernick is now getting compensation for the recognition of his biblical tattoos. I have seen him in magazines and on TV heavily sporting my pieces. Where is my compensation to the continued gain he has received from these tattoos? I have not even received public recognition! I am not suggesting that I own part of Kapernick's body, but, in a sense, I do.

Chris Andersen: Miami Heat
Chris Andersen has based his entire badass basketball player personality on the public recognition of his body art. His persona is "Birdman". Do you really think that a dumb name like that would have stuck if I hadn't created the wings on the inside of his arms? I deserve the rights to my pieces. the amount of time and talent it takes to create what his body looks like today is equal to any modern artist out there. I need to protect myself and my work.

*McCarron's tattoo artist had no comment due to the fact that he is embarrassed of the pieces and would like to claim absolutely no rights to them whatsoever.
Not only did The Gap try to profit off my persona.. They seriously tarnished my reputation. I mean, some of the people who saw the Old Navy advertisement actually thought that she was me! SO gross. I feel really sad that it has come to this, but my reputation is my business. I can't have people thinking that I'm some little pop star act. It literally kills me to think that because of this commercial, people are going to expect me to be able to sing and dance.
Bible, this has nothing to do with reports about that girl--Melissa whatever her name is--supposedly dating my ex, Reggie. Reggie and I are friends, and we care deeply about each other. That's why I know he would never date someone with such bad taste.
In the end, I couldn't go through with the trial for personal reasons, but I want all of you out there to know how much I truly appreciate your support during this difficult time.

Build-a-Kid: Eugenics You Can Get Behind.
Well, it happened. A company established a patent that allows people to "calculate" the genes for their future children and label desirable traits. We, the collective world population are cringing at the thought of a tool that can be used to exacerbate almost every single type of social discrimination in existence. Equal rights activists, maybe just quit while you're ahead because how could you possibly compete with discrimination that can be done through genetic manipulation?!
All we can say is hellloooo 21st century eugenics movement!
Caught Red-Soled: Patent Injustice
I almost succeeded... it's really quite tragic. Let me take a sip of my imported Russian tea from my Swarovski diamond encrusted Waterford Crystal cup and I will begin.
In France and the United States I hold a patent on the red-sole, the feature that makes my shoes so special, so desirable, so worth $4,645 and the life of the alligator they were made from. This patent had generally been upheld. When Charles Jourdan (who, you may ask... do not waste your time looking him up) attempted to exploit my genius I settled with him and he has never sold a red-sole again. Though (Yves) Saint Laurent won the right to sell monochromatic red shoes, I have always maintained a monopoly over the beautiful, beautiful red soles until now.
ZARA. I lost to Zara and in France, at that.
Look at these, they are practically identical. I sued for counterfeiting and a judge who had obviously not skipped his IP law classes ruled in my favor. Then Zara appeals saying my patent is too vague. Too vague??? Then a court, which I have to assume was drunk, ruled my patent needed to specify an exact Pantone color.
Can't own an entire color? Why not? I MADE red.
The only sensible thing they said was that a pair of Zara trash could not be confused with an original Louboutin.
So obviously I have relented and issued a new trademark on the exact Pantone shade, which frankly should have already been named 'Louboutin Red'.
Now I have no choice but to rejoin my perenially laughing, glamorous friends who truly appreciate a red-sole.
After all I've done, after all the drastic, extremist, brutal measures I took, after all the Human Rights conventions I not only violated, but decimated, my legacy as a xenophobic, racist, anti-semitic bigot isn't safe? How could anyone even consider associating my name with foreign foods? What is a burrito? I don't even want to know.
And these other parodies? Having people believe I would even react to Osama bin Laden dying completely ruins the image I worked so hard to build. No one wants or will ever want death to America more than I do.
