StEx AU idea to try and implement the actual Starlight Express as a force/character/etc:

Throughout history, after rail accidents, crashes, murders, suicides, the like, some people report seeing shadowy figures in the dark. They look humanoid, but they don’t move like humans. They seem more mechanical. Most say that they’re just wandering spirits, or just a wild animal. But some believe them to be a legend known as the trainfolk. A freak creation of the Starlight Express granting its protection on those near the rails.

The trainfolk are known to be somewhat reclusive from human society, and they are very purpose-driven with what little memories they have. Some were freight workers, engineers, conductors, or brakemen. Others were passengers. Some were just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

How much memory impacts a member of the trainfolk’s life is unique to them. Some members of the trainfolk don’t remember anything of how they died, and some remember exactly how and when they died, and even some details about their past self.

Rusty, for example, doesn’t remember how he died, he only remembers the fear he felt and that it was a pretty long time ago. Meanwhile, C.B. knows exactly how he died, when, and he remembers his old job. However, he can’t remember much outside of that. He doesn’t tell anyone that he remembers that much about his past life.

I’ll probably reblog this with some of my ideas of who certain characters were, how they died, what they remember, etc.

Forever afraid to start watching/playing something new, even if it's popular and clearly could be something I like, because what if it becomes the new Thing ™. Like, the Thing ™ that suddenly is all you can think about, pretty much all you can get joy from.

This is only scary because what if I already currently have a Thing ™ that brings me joy, if I already have a good thing going with it. I don't want the new Thing ™ to completely replace it you know?

I have no clue if I'm articulating this right at all

I feel like there's 3 options when I choose to look into something new that I know I'll enjoy when I already have a Thing ™ going for me

--> I engage with it and it replaces the last thing. Varies depending, but normally downside is I'm letting go (okay maybe strong wording, being attached to? Idk) of something that had been my personality and life for the last however long and having to adapt to that (plus the people around me who've known me for the previous Thing ™)

--> I engage with it and move on. Woohoo! Feels like a better option than the last as I saw the new/cool & interesting thing, and it didn't replace the Thing ™

--> (Best but rare option) I engage with it and it either ties into the last Thing ™ or I can sustain both at once without losing interest in either. Yippee!
