Make sure you check out the first of a new series! Â Â
Youâre welcome.
In case you were wonderingâŠ
Kateâs Weekly 5! Itâs time for the second round up of Kateâs Weekly 5, where every week, I post a list of five things that Iâm super into that week. Reblog & let me know your five things too â or better yet, join me on Patreon so we can talk about it more!
Eyes - Scripts! Scripts, scripts, scripts! I have a political thriller outline that Iâm starting to work with, plus a horror short, plus an audition. The horror is ready to shoot, so kelvinobryantâ (remember Kelvin!?) & I are trying to make that happen: at this stage, weâre looking for a little money, a little corner cutting, and things like locations, etc. The thriller is outline stage, but itâs good and I canât wait to tell you who is on board â I canât wait to tell you that itâs a go!
Weâre all trying to avoid crowdfunding again, so cross your fingers & if youâre excited about a horror w a twist or a political thriller with a well-written female lead, let me know with a reblog! Tell me what else you might hope to see.
Smell - My yoga mat! I started blogilates this month in earnest â every day, based on her calendar. Which means that for 30-45 min. per day, Iâm nose-deep in a yoga mat. Itâs not a great smell, but I assume Iâm magically fit & fab because Iâve done it for a week straight, sooooâŠ
Taste - Last week, my Boyfriend filmed his episode of Disneyâs Bizaardvark. Thatâs a huge deal & I brought cookies in to the cast/crew. There were a few leftovers, so Iâve been slowly eating my way through them.
Ears - Explosions in the Sky! Boyfriend & I started his favorite show (Friday Night Lights) after finishing one of mine (Sopranos) and Iâve had Explosions in my music forever, but theyâre SO heavily featured in FNL that Iâve started to get back into them. Theyâre stunning - give a listen! I feel like anything I do while Iâm listening to them is fantastical and epic.
I would also be remiss to not mention Hillary Clintonâs speech this week. Regardless of where you sit politically, Clinton delivered an amazingly well written, impassioned, thoughtful speech â it was one of The Great speeches, especially delivered on a campaign trail.
Touch - Puppy got into the fancy boarding school and it touches me in my heart and my funny bone so much. Not only am I proud as can be, which is ridiculous, I also find this hysterical. This place is such a little New England Prep school⊠for dogs. In LA. Iâm dead.
What are your fives for this week?

Eyes - I work as a photographer for two companies and the last couple days, Iâve been taking pictures at commencement ceremonies. Itâs really fun with the candids, because I like getting the natural pictures or silly ones.Â
Smell - Whenever I mow the lawn, the smell of the freshly cut grass reminds me of my childhood home and helping my mother out in the garden. And I would play Michael Jacksonâs âBillie Jeanâ everytime.
Taste - My momâs spaghetti she bought over before her trip. It was delicious and my niece loves it!
Ears - Iâve been listening to more and more theatre recently. Everytime, I listen to âThe Lion Kingâ, I get teary-eyed and good chills.
Touch - Using a old typewriter from the 1940s and getting inspired to finish my great American novel.Â
Typewriters are HARD! Howâs it going?
Let me see if I can think of these.
Eyes - Iâm reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. Theyâre fun and light, despite their length. Perfect for me to read before beginning my review of the books Iâll read in my masterâs in September.
Smell - Itâs autumn here, so my life is filled with the smell of rain, which I love very much.
Taste - Winter means soup time! Iâm not a great cook, but thereâs a brand that sells frozen ones that are very good. My favorite is the zapallo (a kind of pumpkin). You add some cheese and a little pepper and itâs wonderful. On a related note, I should learn to cook things that arenât pasta or rice. I am moving to the other side of the world in a couple of months.
Ears - Iâve been listening to Gilmore Guys, because they are dorks and funny. And I can write while I listen to them.
Touch - Tough one. My dog, Darcy, I guess. Heâs cute and soft. And a bit dumb, but lovely.
Iâm so jealous, autumn is my favorite season. OR WINTER??? One of them. The ones that we donât have here.
I cannot express my jealousy of those of you in autumn/heading into winter right now. CANNOT. I am counting the days.

Not really the POINT but I think @microbrienâs âsquares and rectanglesâ thing here is a useful way to look at The Slytherin Question.

âYouâre not like other girlsâ
Yes actually I am. Girls are awesome, shut the fuck up.
Fiction seems to be more effective at changing beliefs than nonfiction, which is designed to persuade through argument and evidence. Studies show that when we read nonfiction, we read with our shields up. We are critical and skeptical. But when we are absorbed in a story, we drop our intellectual guard. We are moved emotionally, and this seems to make us rubbery and easy to shape.
