Susan:

“Oh I feel so much better, thank you Felix” Susan joked, she was surprised by how good of a mood she happened to be in “Come to enjoy the afternoon sun as well?”

“Always happy to help,” was added with a light chuckle before he took a seat on an available bench. Still within distance to speak to the other professor. “But yes, sometimes the castle air gets a little stuffy. I need something fresh from time to time.”

Susan:

Susan sat on a bench in the transfiguration courtyard with her work to be marked on her lap and a coffee in hand. It was too nice of a day to be stuck in a stuffy classroom. It wasn’t her favourite place to be considering it was the place she lost her leg in the battle but when the sun was shining and there was a gentle breeze she couldn’t help but try to enjoy sitting there. She scanned her eyes up and down the piece of parchment and made a few notes of who might need some extra help. Susan laughed a little too loud at an answer one of her students had written as a joke. She looked around quickly to see if anyone had heard her “Damn” she chuckled when she saw someone had spotted her “I had hoped no one had heard that” 

It was one of those days. One of the days that reminded him that even after seeing some shit, things were still pretty good. Felix couldn’t help himself from humming a song quietly as he walked through the corridors and found himself in the transfiguration courtyard. It was always interesting to him to be in a place that held so much history. The walls themselves seemed to whisper it. A large portion of the reason he enjoyed teaching in Hogwarts so much. After surrounding himself with a world of history, it was nice to find it in a steady place like a school. A quick laugh pulled him out of his revere and he caught sight of on Susan Bones reading something that must have been funny. “Oh don’t worry,” he began easily as he walked over to her with a smile. “Your secret is safe with me.”

Olive:

Olive nodded her head as he listed off the ways the other healers and medwitches tried to solve his problems, and the outcomes they had. While she knew it was a long shot to try to find a cure, if the entire team at St. Mungo’s wasn’t able to do it, but she couldn’t help it. She wanted to help him, she wanted to find a way to fix him, and make sure he never had to worry about feeling pain when he used magic again. Hands moving along his arm to massage the tissue in hopes of calming any flared up nerves, she hummed to herself before speaking. “I have an idea, but don’t feel compelled to agree to it if you’re not up for it, alright?” Looking down at her coworker and waiting for his response, she continued once she had it. “Would you be open to the idea of coming in to the hospital wing a few times a week, so I could maybe study your injury and try to find a way to fix. I know it’s a long shot, and it might not ever be cured completely, but I’d like to help in any way I can.”

He had to stop himself from humming in happiness at the feel of her fingers digging into the tender tissue. It wasn’t that nothing had helped. Things had been worse in the beginning. Felix would mentally complained about all of the things the healers had done but he had to admit - things were better than they were. His nerves seemed to dance under his skin from Olive’s ministrations. Leaning his head back, he looked towards the ceiling and thought over her offer. It wasn’t a bad idea. During school he did his best just to ignore it and not go in for any sorts of testing. Always put him in a bad mood and he did his best to avoid them during teaching times. He didn’t need to be a complete asshole to kids that didn’t really care about what he was telling them. After another beat he shifted his attention to her and offered a small smile. “Sure,” he began slowly before nodding. “Yeah I could find time for that,” he continued before his gentle smile turned roguish. “If anything it will give me more of a reason to be in your company,” his tone shifted purposefully trying to lighten the mood.

Why History of Magic?

“For lack of any other way to describe it - its in my blood. My mother was into the history of our world and when I was younger we traveled and learned more things then I could probably describe. It sparked a love in me. There is a quote by a muggle author that I love - If you don’t know history, then you don’t know anything. You are a leaf that doesn’t know it is part of a tree. In many ways I believe that is very true. When I got older I began to realize that history shapes us. It shapes the world we live in which then will move us in directions we may not have if things hadn’t turned out that way. Just take a moment to look at the world around you. I mean really look at it. You’ll begin to realize that we are the history of the people in later years. Our choices shape what their world will be. It is more than a little incredible.”

Olive:

Taking his shirt from him, she folded it up neatly and placed it on the bed as he stood up, slowly walking around him to get a better look at his arm in the process. Nodding her head as he spoke, Olive’s brows furrow as she took his arm in her hand. Her palms ran up and down his arm for a moment, checking to make sure the muscles were normal and there was no sign of deterioration. “You can sit back down if you’d like,” she told him, stepping backwards and away from his body. Sitting down across from him, the blonde pursed her lips as she looked him over. “Has anything helped with the day to day pain, Felix? I know it’s magic that’s caused this, but are potions an option? Any salves?”

Humming lightly at the feel of her fingers moving about his arm, he just closed his eyes for a moment and wondered where he would have been in the world if not for a stupid curse. Opening his eyes when she mentioned sitting, Felix did just that leaning back slightly. “Mostly muggle techniques have worked,” it was easy to admit that the had sought out something other than magical means. Eventually he had given in and the pain was... excruciating. “Some of them have worked. Ones to avoid from what I have noticed are the ones that have spells used on them,” he paused to run a hand through his hair. “That last part is really just a guess. It could be something in some of them. I’m not sure,” offered a small smile he shrugged. “I’m not a potions master after all. I just drank the shit they handed me and prayed about.”

Olive:

Olive could see the twinkle in his eyes and she couldn’t help but wonder what it was that her coworker was thinking. With a quick, curious, playful smile, Olive turned her attention back to his body, her hands softly pressing against his ribs to make sure there were no fractures. Nodding her head as he talked about what had happened at the Gala, she looked him in the eyes once more. This time much more serious then before. “Tingle? That’s it? I need you to be serious with me Felix.” Rolling her eyes at the man and his flirtatious words, she motioned to his top. “Then thorough we’ll get. Shirt off. I want to make sure the spells didn’t have any lingering effect.”

With the roll of her eyes, he sighed softly and nodded his head. Making quick work of his shirt, he set it to the side and stood there. The scarring from the accident was visible heavily on his left side - his arm taking the brunt of it. “There was pain,” Felix began again to soothe the inner healing monster. “It lasted for a few hours and then turned into the tingle,” moving his arm upward so she could investigate he sighed. “After that it was the standard pin pricks as if it had fallen asleep. Numbness. Now I have my normal day to day tremors and discomfort,” just listing it out like that dug at a raw part of him. Anger that normally he could forget about swirled underneath. If they weren’t already dead he would have killed them again. “Nothing like it used to be. So the pain isn’t even on the Richter scale,” was added for good measure. It was nothing like it had been before.

Lydia:

“ ember, ” she called softly, footsteps echoing through the corridor. the ravenclaw shook the jingling cat toy, hoping to draw out the animal. “ where are you ?? ” she bit softly on her lower lip, scanning for the small kitten.

With book in hand, Felix made his way through the corridors calmly. There was no rush really so he simply decided to take his time and enjoy the views of the castle. Hearing someone call out softly he turned the corner and caught sight of one of the ravenclaw students, shaking a cat toy. “Miss Finnigan,” he questioned lightly with a lift of his eyebrow. “Are you alright?”

Olive:

Olive actually enjoyed it when the faculty came into the hospital wing, whether that be for a check up or because they’d been experimenting with potions, or because they had a child in need. Whatever the excuse, it meant she got a few moments to interact with her fellow coworkers and that was always nice. Of course she’d see them at dinner or breakfast from time to time, but being the mediwitch, her hours were much different then theirs. The only time she was with everyone at the same time was during the holiday feasts or something similar. Standing in front of Felix, the blonde gave him a smile when he sent her a playful, flirty remark. “You and me both, Professor.” She retorted as she sat down on a chair in front of him. “So, before we start the check up, I was wondering if there was anything specific you’d want me to look for? With the attacks a few weeks back, I feel like it’s necessary to be a tad more thorough.”

Her question was answered in his head quickly with an inappropriate tone. Thankfully his mouth stayed clamped as Felix reminded himself that they were colleagues and unless they were in the privacy of one of their rooms, half naked it wasn’t something he was going to say. Clearing his throat he shrugged easily. “Well, there were a few spells that made my arm tingle but nothing too serious,” the spells he had used were not gentle ones. The pain that had crawled up his spine and infected his body had been excruciating. However it was nothing like the day it had occurred so all and all - it had gone well. “But I am definitely not against being thorough,” he had worn an easy to take off shirt, just in case. He never knew what she would need so he had to be prepared.

Edi:

Edith & Felix

A bright smile hung from Edi’s lips at his reaction. Felix always had a way of making even her humdrum stories seem so much more exciting then the actually were. She enjoyed it. “Well really its just random things, places I liked the most. Pretty sights.. things like that. But they are all pretty subjective.” she could feel a small blush rise on her cheeks. She found most of the notes she made to be silly in reality. But it was just something she’d always done, a habit that made her feel comfortable. “I’m sure you know all of them already.” she added with a little nod as she chewed at her lip.

Chuckling lightly, he nodded along with her mention of him knowing most of them. Felix had traveled the world. he knew plenty of interesting places but he never left out the option that someone would know better. “Well, one of these days you should give me the list anyway. You might have gone somewhere I haven’t,” it wasn’t like all of his trips had been all social things. Work, while he loved it, had taken much of his time. Sitting in cafes and eating things weren’t always on the top of his list. Unfortunately. “Don’t sell your taste short,” was added with a smile as he ran a hand through his hair. “So, gonna to cover anything radical this year,” he of course was talking about her experimental tendencies when she played with charms. Edi always pretended to be all ‘homey’ but he just knew she could blow some shit up.

finmaddock:

“Ye and me both. Where in hell did we go wrong?” Fin laughed, stopping only to stay still as the other prepared to heal his wounds. He figured he’d at least broken a nose, and one eye was swelling. “Very comforting, mate,“ he snorted. Somehow joking about it made the pain throughout his skull easier to bare, but it was also a lot easier to just joke about it with Felix. If it were anyone else, he supposed he’d be getting an earful. At least the guy was equally as humorous about it. “Good, gotta keep up the pretty boy look I’ve got going on.” He stayed still as he felt the sparks of a magic spell against his skin. Soon enough the blood was gone, and then there was heat and a bit of pain as his wounds were being healed up. He tried to give an appreciative nod, but it must have been lost in the grimace on his face. Sighing in relief when it was over, he grinned at the other man as he spoke up, shrugging. “Aye, I know that,” he agreed, looking back toward the way he’d come. “Just wish I had a chance to give it another go on that bloody git. I’d take him down for sure. Make it count, anyway.” 

Felix knew that time wasn’t kind to people. He studied it for god’s sake. He knew how worlds fell apart from the empires to the individual. Even without actually talking to the guy, Fin had that sort of thing hovering behind him. Like a specter that just was waiting to suffocate him. When faced with something like that all the darker hard man could do was lighten the mood. There was no way he was going to be the one to break down the walls and talk about the shadows that followed him. The past was the past after all. “Stick with me and go far you will,” he jokingly mocked Yoda with a life before patting Fin on the shoulder. “Seriously though. One of these nights you should get laid instead of getting into fights. Might help take the edge off,” every now and again words come out of  his mouth that reminded him of his younger years. Pure gold.  “Just warn a guy beforehand cause you’re cute,” he paused to wink at him before laughing. “But you’re not that open. We shouldn’t rush our relationship.” No they weren’t in a real relationship. No he wasn’t looking for one with the man but sometimes he said shit to make himself laugh. Worked like a charm.

It was the beginning of the school year. As such, Felix found himself walking into the hospital wing as a sort of tradition. Ever since he had begun working at Hogwarts he found himself avoiding going to St. Mungos for check ups when dealing with the issues from strange curses. Instead he was in the mindset that getting a work up from any healer and sending that off was always a better option. So once again he found himself standing in front of one Olive Walsh with a bit of a roguish smile on his lips. “You know I look forward to this moment every year,” it was clear that he was teasing her but there may have been a bit of a flirtation within his words. In the end he was being friendly but she was pretty so there was that. No one could blame him really.

Edi:

EDITH & FELIX

Edith sat up a little st righter a bright smile on her lips as she nodded her head. “Of course I’ll tell you, I would be horrible if I kept all the good sweets shops to myself.” she offered playfully. Reaching for her bag she pulled out a tiny little note book. The cover was pretty worn from being used often. “I wrote them down so I wouldn’t forget. I’m always bad with French names.” she fingered through the pages before finding the page she wanted a little hum of delight sounding. “Chambelland Boulangerie, was my favorite one.” she announced with her best french accent. “They had the most amazing chocolate croissants. I was trying to figure out how bring a years supply here with me.” 

Seeing a notebook get pulled out that was obviously used, wasn’t nearly as surprising to Felix as it perhaps should have been. Of course Edi had taken notes about her trip and all of the best places. Somehow he couldn’t get any sort of thoughts other than fond ones. “Damn straight,” he offered with a chuckle as she opened it and began to look for what she wanted. Her french wan’t nearly as bad as she always said it was. Her Mandarin was off but he had only told her a few phrases. His fault really. “Now you’re talking,” while he spoke, mentally he was already planning a way to get his hands on one or two. Weekends and floo networks were honestly the greatest creations. “If your singing its praises, I bet I won’t be disappointed.” Moving to take a drink from his cup, Felix offered her a smile before putting it back down. “Anything else worth note?”

Favourite student?

“Hmm, well since we are being honest here - I don’t play favorites. The difficult thing about having a subject that many people don’t put stock in or has had a teacher that barely covered anything in the world is that most people don’t respect it. As such it can be trying to find anyone that truly appreciates what you do. I like my students but none of them have ever become a favorite.”

Did you always want to be a teacher?

“Teaching wasn’t - Teaching wasn’t the plan. It wasn’t where I started and to be incredibly honest it wasn’t where I envisioned myself to be. Becoming a professor was a solution to a problem. It was a way to still do something I loved or speak about something I was passionate about when I could no longer do what I used to. Life is funny that way. All you can do is tell it that it has no right to take away what you love. Then when it thoroughly screws fucks itself you find another way.”

Is there anyone you fancy romantically?

“Fancy romantically? I feel like this is a question that could get me into trouble. There are a few people here that I find aesthetically pleasing but I am not sure if a relationship is something I am going to pursue. I asked one, it didn’t go well but it was years ago and we are good friends now.”

How do you feel about your fellow professors?

“I have warm and fuzzies for all of my fellow colleagues in the school. Not to say I would want to get too close but I care for all of them individually nonetheless.”

Fin:

“Hey for all I know ye could be,” he snorted, “Wasnae one of them a playboy with two mistresses? They’re not all that good.” Feeling a wave of gratitude fall over him at the sight of the other’s wand, Fin nodded appreciatively as the man spoke. “Aye,” he chuckled, trying not to smile too much as it hurt his face, “If it weren’t obvious yet, I could certainly use some help next time.” That was an understatement. It was brutal, but Fin wasn’t one to pick fights. Not before. He really needed to stop drinking, but Merlin knew that wasn’t going to happen. “Yer good at healing spells, right? ’M not gonna end up lookin’ worse after yer done?”

“Right now I don’t even have one,” he countered with a laugh but yeah the other man was correct. It always made Felix laugh, if only just a little. Raising a brow at the questioning of his healing talents, the dark haired man had to admit, it was a damn good question. “I’m good when it counts,” pausing for a second he offered a stare. “Don’t worry you won’t look any worse then you did before you hit someone’s fist one too many times,” he joked with a light laugh before pointing his wand with a well practiced ease. “Tergeo,” was out to clean and get away any shit that shouldn’t have been there. “Episkey,” quickly followed to get wounds healed. Sliding his wand back into his holster he helped Fin right himself before giving a hard look. “You know what it means when you drink alone right,” he questioned but there was no malice or judgement in the words. “The fists that did this don’t count.”
