i hesitate to use the term victim blaming in relation to anakin because at the end of the day he's a fake guy whose crimes range from domestic violence to genocide but people's obsession with holding him "accountable" (let me reiterate, fake guy) and emphasizing how much choice he had starts feeling like that! cuz yeah ultimately his actions are his own, the narrative tells you this as much as very annoying fans who love stating the obvious do, but it feels rather insane to me to act like he was making choices under normal circumstances. like, at the end of the day he was being groomed and later on horrifically abused by palpatine and it feels like a lot of people really want to pretend that it’s his fault for not catching onto it as a traumatized child. he didn’t randomly switch loyalties bc he was hungry for power or whatever, his entire sense of reality was very meticulously broken down by a man who has been preying on his vulnerabilities since he was a child! and i just think people should maybe think about that before making arguments that sound dangerously close to “well why didn’t he just leave his abuser”

Something I think about a lot is Anakin hanging out with the other Padawans in his age group at the Jedi Temple, listening to them discuss past field trips when they were all eight years old or which crèche master they had back when they were young kings or even what their favorite type of candy was when they were kids, and being completely unable to related to all of it but at the same time, desperately hoping no one points out that he’s different and doesn’t have the same memories or experiences as the rest of them do.

The bottle is nearly empty, and conversation has long fallen into a lull when Anakin blurts out, “I’ve never—actually. Um.”
And, to Obi-Wan’s bemusement, she flushes, grabbing at her wayward curls that have slipped loose from her messy knot and tugging at them hard enough that he sees her scalp lifting from the pull.
His tongue is heavy on the floor of his mouth, laid low by the foulest liquor he’s ever had the displeasure to suck down. It takes him a moment to go, “Sorry?” He clears his throat. What had they been talking about, before silence draped over them like a warm blanket? Was it about the clones? Or Quinlan’s ridiculous stunt that had nearly upset the entire operation? The argument about whether Ahsoka was too young to be spending so much time away from the Temple? What? What was it?
And then it hits him that they’d been talking about past lovers, and he repeats himself, more perplexed. “Are you implying that you haven’t had sex? Anakin, I know you have.”
Anakin grimaces. “Nooo, oh, no, no. No. I have. I’ve had sex. Yes. Definitely.”
“Yes. As mentioned… I’m aware.” Obi-Wan kindly does not mention Senator Amidala; he just brings the bottle up and takes a sip of the dregs. “Right. So if it’s not that, what do you mean?”
It takes such a long time for Anakin to visibly draw on her courage—often so easily found in battle, but scarce when it comes to admitting things—that Obi-Wan is willing to dismiss it as a strange interlude brought about by the the alcohol and they really should go to bed, when Anakin says, voice small, “I’ve never… finished.”
Obi-Wan stares at her.
I never understand people who are like "I love this character but I hate this other one" and the two characters are best friends. Your favorite character loves them, that's THEIR blorbo, their little shit, their sun and stars, and you want to hate them?
Y’all are always talking about how Anakin is a himbo but that dude has like THREE different engineering phd’s, to let loose steam he fucking retrofits WARSHIPS do you even know the math involved, it makes me want to throw up thinking about it - and that’s without the mind for strategy, etc etc. You wanna play the himbo game? Obi-Wan Kenobi is RIGHT THERE. Mr “My Padawan calls me his father and I’m so panicked I immediately take a drink” Jedi. Obi-Wan “Anakin rages about how he can feel the stars burning out when he closes his eyes but I simply pat his head” Kenobi. “The Negotiator” indeed. You look me in the eyes and tell me that man knows how bank accounts work. Do it. I dare you. YOU CAN’T. He can perfect soresu, one of the most physically demanding lightsaber forms that exists, but I can guaran-fucking-tee he has had to call Anakin on multiple occasions to ask how the space coffee maker works. He’s the himbo. IT’S HIM.
since @virahaus asked for the dress at here so I decided to put it with my @anakinfests sub vader fest entry - which was exactly on the same dress except he is sitting on the throne -
Prompt: Art prompt! Vaderkin wearing this as he sits on Emperor Obiwan's lap/or he's perched on the arm of Obi-Wan's throne (up to you Obiwan's outfit!) I'd be down even for a fic with this so it's up to you!
P.S I also wanted to thank @misscoet 's wonderful paint job for inspiring the painting I did - I am very pleased with the dramatic and bold use of contrasting colors lol
