Journey towards recovery

Exactly three weeks ago, on Wednesday, June 28th, I attempted suicide. I took an overdose - all I accomplished was projectile vomiting everywhere. A few days later, on Saturday, July 1st, I went to the psychiatric ER at Bellevue  with my girlfriend H. She stayed with me for over six hours through the triage process. Late that night, I was finally admitted, and on the morning of the 2nd was brought upstairs to a psychiatric ward to begin my stint as an inpatient. 

I was in the hospital for ten days and was discharged on the 11th to my other partner S. On the 12th I began a Partial Hospitalization Program at Mt Sinai. It has been just over one week since my discharge from Bellevue, and I am adjusting to the routine of the PHP, to being out of work, and to finally beginning to focus on myself and my health completely. 

This is going to be my journal of sorts during this process. I’m back after a long time. ~ J
