Same exact playbook, down to the "but it was based on a lie."
It's kind of amazing how much this is the identical strategy. Focusing on the distress and harm of parents over the trans or autistic person themselves. Pathologizing the condition treating it as an epidemic, including calling it a social contagion causing a worrying "explosion" of diagnosis because it is "trendy."
Ignoring the experts on the subject while also appealing to "common sense" and dismissing all research that contradicts them while also appealing to "basic science."
Plus it's all the same quacks and actors behind previous medical and social moral panics saying them same things in the same ways and no one seems to acknowledge that.
she says in the article that she was inspired to think this way about autism after she started reporting on detransitioners. Her Twitter mentions are filled with prominent voices in the detrans terf movement. This isn't just similar, It is quite self-consciously an extension of the same movement.
thought-terminating cliche
They cut off usda funding from Minnesota, which includes wic and snap. Please consider donating to food banks around the area or food drives. Many immigrants are too scared to leave their homes to shop as well and a community member is doing great work.

[“The official U.S. delegation was headed by Ronald Reagan’s daughter Maureen, who had hardly distinguished herself as a sincere advocate for women’s equality. She may have supported the demands of politically conservative, economically secure white women, but she has never represented working-class women, and certainly not Black, Latina, Native American, Asian, and Pacific Island women.
As a mouthpiece for her father, himself a figurehead for the most antiworking-class, sexist, racist, and indeed most militaristic sectors of the capitalist monopolies, Maureen Reagan intentionally misconstrued the status and struggles of the masses of women in our country. She assumed the posture that, like Zionism and apartheid, racism—and indeed the halting of the nuclear-arms race—are not “authentic” women’s issues. When Maureen Reagan delivered her opening address at the official UN conference, she proclaimed that women in the United States are well on their way to emancipation. In fact, she said that “all barriers to political equality have long since been eliminated.” The four main issues relating to the sexist oppression of women in our country, she said, are “women refugees, women in development, literacy, and domestic violence.”
Certainly these issues have their place on women’s agenda, but when they are presented as the only truly important questions defining women’s oppression in the United States, they fundamentally distort our situation. What about racism? What about unemployment and economic inequities? And, indeed, what about militarization?
The four issues chosen by Maureen Reagan were evoked for the express purpose of diverting attention away from the larger context of women’s inequality. During the official conference, delegation leaders from the United States at times had difficulty recalling the Reagan line of reasoning. At one of the press conferences, for example, Lois Harrington, a member of the Reagan delegation, attempted to enumerate the administration’s four categories: “Domestic violence, literacy, development and …—oh, Alan [referring to Alan Keyes, the main negotiator for the U.S. delegation], you’ll have to help me, I can’t remember the fourth.” When Keyes screamed out, “Refugees,” Harrington responded, “Oh, yes, how could I forget? We have so many refugees.”]

court-ordered AA/NA is so fucking stark. legally-mandated christian cult subjection or they'll lock you in a cage [again]
the "well atheists are actually the real reactionaries :/" crowd always get very wormy and indignant about this one
There are judges in the US that have explicitly ordered church attendance. The whole concept of "separation of church and state" has been thoroughly whittled down at this point.
for no reason whatsoever here’s a reminder that if you consider yourself a leftist/punk/abolitionist/anarchist/radical in any sort of way and get called into jury duty, you are to become the most square person on earth during the jury questionnaire!!!
don’t be that guy who says fuck the police in the jury questionnaire! that just gets you sent home! if you want to generate change, interact with the case and use your jury vote for good! ESPECIALLY if it’s a high profile case!
Remember, when you're on the jury, a good "that cop's story didn't add up" will sway a lot more Chads and Karens than "fuck the police."
