the internal diving board
hey cool blog! I saw your post about how the internal diving board and lesser oceans track listings differed, and how some of the songs might’ve been renamed for lesser oceans and I just thought I’d share some info that I have on that. my friend was temporarily announced as the new drummer of fences back in 2013 and during this time chris Mansfield had emailed him 9 of the 13 mastered songs for the internal diving board and I was able to listen to them all. The songs that were sent were -Songs about angels (different version than lesser oceans version) -native American print (full band version, not on lesser oceans) -thin legs (not renamed and not released on lesser oceans) -Melbourne boys (different version, no macklemore or ryan lewis and renamed as Arrows on lesser oceans,) -oh father (full band version, odd that it isn’t on the internal diving board track listing and didn’t make the cut on lesser oceans either) -dogs at the table(different version than lesser oceans version) -dusty beds(different version than lesser oceans version) -werewolf palm (not renamed and not released on lesser oceans) -temple dreaming(different version than lesser oceans version) thin legs, werewolf palm, native American print, and oh father are all completely unreleased and strangely enough in my opinion some of his greatest songs ever…fingers crossed that these versions get released in the future on the next album because it would be a shame to go without being heard. I normally wouldn’t take the type to write to you but you seem really dedicated to fences and the blog so I figured you’d want to know! take care!
thank you for taking the time to write because that’s really awesome and as you noticed i do consider myself a big fan of chris’s music. i’ve only heard the versions on youtube of native american print and oh father and they’re great songs i agree. you should totally have your friend send you those ; P but thanks for the info!
