Experiments in the rain | Fennel & Quentin
q-less:
Quentin rubbed his back again, still trying to shake off the pain from his fall. He puffed out his chest and gave a large smile of pride when the introductions came as if he was proud of being himself.
âNameâs Quentin Maestro. Some people just call me âQâ for short. Iâm from Jubilife City, not too far from here. I havenât been back there in a while though.â Quentin returned to his normal posture, unable to keep the puffed out chest for too long. The smile, however, stayed plastered all over his face as did his excessive amount of talking. It seemed that whenever Quentin got too excited, he couldnât stop talking. âIâve got a Lucario, Noivern, and an Absol. I donât do a lot with the last two. Theyâre technically not mine anyway. Itâs a long story.â Quentin awkwardly waved off his rushed explanation about his pokemon, not wanting to draw attention to it. The young scientist adjusted his lab coat, a little unsure of what to do next.
âYou said there was an abandoned building near here? Maybe you had the right idea about taking shelter.â Quentin asked, trying to squeeze some water out of his wet labcoat. It was finally starting to sink in just how wet he really was, and how much wetter he would get if he spent any more time in the rain. As much as his childish and playful side hated to admit it, it was time for Quentin to go inside. Rubbing his hand through his hair again, Quentin started off in the direction Fennel was walking before they collided, assuming that was the direction the building was in.
âSo, Doc, whatâre you doing here in Sinnoh?â Quentin asked curiously. âI assume youâre here for work. I canât see why anyone would visit Sinnoh for pleasure. Especially when thereâs this much rain. If Iâm right, and you are here for work, whatâre you working on?â
âYouâre right, I am in Sinnoh for work,â she confirmed. Although technically the whole trip was to satisfy her curiosity on Future Sight, not actual work that will be published one day. With the legendariesâ presence in Sinnoh, Fennel hoped that some of their powers in relation to time and space left some residue here and there, or at least gave her some inspiration on what exactly she needed to research.
She winked at Quentin, âBut I canât tell you what Iâm working on. Itâs a secret.â Although she usually wasnât embarrassed about such trivial matters, she didnât want to admit to Quentin, who clearly played the role of a scientist in society, that she came all the way to Sinnoh just to research something she could have easily researched at home. It was more of an impulse at the time, but she didnât regret it one bit. But it wasnât just the fact that she had come to another region for practically no other reason than impulse. It was also the fact that the question she was trying to find an answer to was so simple, not like the complex things she had done in the past.
They got to the building, still looking as abandoned as ever, save for the lack of cobwebs on the almost-broken entrance; it was as welcoming as ever, but still a better place than outside.
âMist! Dream! Iâm back!â It would be nice if they could meet Quentin along with his Pokemon, just for a change of faces. Plus, Dream could use Yawn on his Lucario and take a peek inside of the Pokemonâs head. After all, if it was his most used Pokemon, Lucario was probably very similar to him. It would basically be the same thing as peeking into Quentinâs head! Of course it would have been purely for research purposes, as Fennel could never give up the opportunity to look into a trainerâs head, but at the same time it would have been bad manners. What a shame.
If her instinct were correct, her two Pokemon should be floating out the front in three, two, one... Nothing. âMist? Dream? Iâm back!â she called out again. Had they not heard her? Their hearing was exceptional, but there was still a slim chance that they simply didnât hear. âStrange,â she muttered to herself.
Fennel turned towards Quentin. She laughed nervously, âShall we go in? Iâm sure they were exploring and just didnât hear me. Itâs also possible that theyâre taking a nap.â Hopefully that was it.
Youâre not Burnet | Fennel & Kukui
@royalmask
âAh, my legs ache so much!â Sitting immobile on a plane was never any fun, even if it wasnât for that long. Fennel had been way too excited to even get a wink of sleep, constantly leaning over Amanita to look through the window. The small plane had arrived onto Melemele Island at around seven in the morning meaning that Fennel hadnât slept since at least three oâclock. Although she was full of energy now, she knew she was going to bed early.
She stretched her back and grabbed their baggage. âIs this everything, Amanita? I got all of your stuff, right? Here, take everything you need for now and Iâll take the rest to Burnetâs place. Youâre old enough to get to the con on your own. You can easily call me on the Xtransceiver if you get lost or once it ends and you want me to go and get you. Remember that Iâm rooting for you! Iâm sure youâll wow everyone with your invention!â
The main reason that the sisters had come to Alola was for a science convention that Amanita had begged to go to. Fennel wasnât entirely sure what she had created - she had kept it a complete secret - but she was certain that it wasnât as impressive as the storage system she had created off of Billâs model. Without much convincing Fennel had agreed to the trip, her reason being that she had never visited Burnet in Alola, and the con happened to be in Hauâoli City. Of course, her college friend didnât know she was visiting. It was going to be a surprise.
After some walking around, Fennel finally managed to find the house on the address Burnet had given her a while ago. She knocked on the door and then tried the door handle immediately. In a sing song voice, she called out, âHelloooo~ Burnet, are you hoooome?â
wishing for something new | rosa and ??? [open]
rosebudheroine:
She let out a small laugh at Fennel, the scientist slipping her out of her blues. Yes, it was nice to see a familiar face, even if they hadnât interacted that much. Rosa was busy with being the Champion and helping out at Pokestars Studios when she had a spare moment. She almost didnât recognize the other, her hair tied up and a different colored tank top than what she had been used to seeing her in. The lab coat remained the same though, Fennel was a scientist through and through.
âYes, itâs Rosa. At least you remember my name, I havenât seen you in a while, so I almost expected you to forget it.â The words were light and teasing, a playful tone in her voice. Considering she was just mopping minutes ago, it was surprising that she rebounded so quickly. Then again, she was one to hide her feelings to not inconvenience others, putting others above herself. She was quite good at thatâŠ
She shook her head side to side, cutting of that particular train of thought short. This wasnât the time to be thinking about that, especially not those thoughts or rather feelings. Especially not around Fennel, she didnât need to unload onto the other those feelings. Sheâd rather not make the other uncomfortable.
Removing her headphones, she patted the spot next to her, invitingly. âYou might as well sit down, we have quite a bit of catching up to do. I havenât seen you in a while. Been busy with your research?â She did want to ask about the other trainer that she mentioned, but one thing at a time. They would have plenty of time to get to that.
âDonât mind if I do!â She sat down right where Rosa had patted moments earlier, immediately crossing her legs. There was so much that had happened since the two of them had first met! Actually, now that she thought about it, Fennel was pretty sure that they had only met once before, when Rosa had pretty much started her journey. It was pretty hard to forget a trainer like her though. Just by looking at her you could tell she was strong (then again, she was the current Champion, from what Fennel had heard from Aurea). She had also helped Fennel test out the Game Sync, which allowed trainers to access their trainer data anywhere, and also have the dreams of Pokemon become a reality in the Extralink. Really, it was Hilda that had collected the Dream Mist required to create the Game Sync, but Rosa had also helped out a great deal by agreeing to use it so that Fennel could see what features needed to be improved.
So much had definitely happened since then. For starters, there was the fact that Team Plasma had regrouped and fallen apart again. So much must have happened to Rosa. As for Fennel, her life had been a bit boring. Her last big project had been the Game Sync, and since she finished it she had only been making occasional tweaks to it here and there. Otherwise her research had been all over the place, always jumping from one topic to another, more excitable topic. For the past couple of days Fennel hadnât even left her home because she had been researching on what to research. It was partly the reason why Amanita wanted her to change her pace a bit.Â
An idea popped into her mind. âRemember how you helped me out with the Game Sync? You should know its function. Well, if we can make a Pokemonâs dreams become a reality in the Extralink, whatâs stopping us from doing the same but with a trainer? After all, my favourite topic to study is trainers. And you, Rosa, are the perfect person to help me out! Honestly, things have been a bit slow lately, but this is great! Itâs stupendous! Absolutely magnificent! What do you say?â
Experiments in the rain | Fennel & Quentin
q-less:
Quentin rubbed his back, trying to massage the part he fell on. It was far from the worst fall he ever had as a scientist. He had fallen out of trees, tripped into craters, ran into walls, and had suffered countless scratches, burns, bruises, and cuts from his fieldwork. Colliding with a person and tripping in a puddle were almost nothing when added to the long list of injuries Quentin had sustained.Â
Quentin ran a hand through his damp hair, trying to get some of the water out of it. He slicked it back before ruffling it up into a bigger and crazier mess than his hair normally was. Then he heard the suggestion of going inside. He looked over with an expression on his face that made him look like a small child who had just been told playtime was over.
âWhat? Inside? But itâs so nice out!â He said, gesturing to the gray skies and rain that was still coming down. âThe rain is just the best!â He continued, trying to justify his reason for wanting to stay outside. âYou get to see the world in a whole new way when it rains! The lightâs different, the colorâs different. Everything just looks and feels different! I love it!â
Quentin looked back over hoping to see that he had changed the mind of the person he was talking to. He could see that the woman he had run into was soaking wet, and dripping more than he was. While the young scientist was fine with spending all day getting wet in the rain, not everyone felt the same way. Then Quentin felt a nudge inside of him. A nudge that told him maybe what he wanted wasnât the best thing for the situation.
âOrâŠâ Quentin paused, trying to think of what to say, âMaybe going inside and drying off can be nice too. â He tried not to look too disappointed that his fun was cut short, but she did have a point. The two scientists were soaked as if they had just gone swimming in their normal clothes. Going inside and drying off was far from a bad idea.Â
âDo you live around here? Or do you know a place where we can dry off?â Quentin asked, wiping some more mud off of his lab coat.
It was an interesting take on rain. Most people either felt indifferent towards rain or despised it completely. Never had Fennel met somebody that actually enjoyed being outside while it rained. She personally didnât like the rain as much. Example: the mud she had just slipped on. It was because of the rain that the mud was there, and consequently she now had stains on her lab coat. Rain also made one feel extremely uncomfortable, the chill that usually accompanied it seeping into muscles, only causing aches. It made clothes heavy and stiff, and long hair like hers took forever to dry. Not to forget the droplets of water that populated the lenses of her glasses, making it hard to see.
Rain was simply a nuisance that had to be tolerated from time to time. It was necessary for the environment, but humans could easily avoid it by staying indoors. Maybe if Fennel was better equipped for the current situation, like having a raincoat on and her hair in a braid, she wouldnât have minded staying outside.
He did look a bit downcast when she suggested going inside. There was a twinge of regret when she noticed (a bit like when you wave a treat in front of a Lilipup and then not give it to it), but at the end of the day it was his decision whether to go inside or not.
âJust a bit further down thereâs a big abandoned building. It doesnât look like anybodyâs been living there for a while, and Iâve left most of my stuff there already. We could probably dry off there. But I must warn you that itâs a bit of a mess in there.â It was a mess before Fennel got there, but she had only made it worse. She had never been that good at keeping her surroundings tidy, only occasionally cleaning when it was borderline disgusting.
The skies didnât look like they were going to clear up anytime soon. That means that they were going to be stuck together for the next little while, unless this special snowflake decided he wanted to go enjoy the rain some more. âMaybe itâs time for a little introduction! Iâm Dr. Fennel, from Castelia City! Inside the building are two of my Pokemon: Dream, my Munna, and Mist, my Musharna.â
Sheâs so enthusiastic and I love it.
wishing for something new | rosa and ??? [open]
Umbrella at your side, itâs raining but you close it tight âAnd how are you?â purred a cat just passing through Those heels that you like are soaking, but is that alright?
Looking down at her music player, Rosa let out a sigh. Things seem to have gotten so boring recently and it was bothering her. When she had first started out her journey, it had all been exciting and new, considering she hadnât left Asperita before. Now it just seemedâŠstale and unchanging.
Then again, maybe that could just be her.
Looking around from where she sat, she watched all the people rushing around, trying to get to where they needed. Or they were just casually strolling around, not really trying to go anywhere. People watching was something she had taken up doing recently; it made her curious as to what others were doing, considering she had no idea of what she wanted to do.
Letting out around sigh, she just wanted something new to happen. She wanted to find something new to do, something she hadnât done before and hadnât seen. Though she was a bit surprised to see someone approaching her, but see offered them a smile nonetheless.
âYes? Is there something that you wanted from me?â
For once Fennel wasnât sporting her usual outfit. She had decided to go incognito for the day, so that most people wouldnât realize she was a scientist. Of course, the lab coat she wore didnât help in the least. The woman was told by a certain someone that the lab coat just looked so cute on her, and that it was something she should always wear. So, really, the only change in outfit was that she was wearing a purple tank top instead of a pink one, and her hair was tied in long pigtails. Of course, this hairstyle was inspired by her sister.
In fact, it was Amanita that had insisted upon the whole change. The younger sibling had stated in a very matter-of-fact way that Fennel worked too much, and needed a break. In Fennelâs perspective, her work was fun, and thatâs why she was constantly researching something. Her sister was the exact same; she was constantly thinking of new things to build and experiment upon. So, this sudden declaration that Fennel, of all people, worked too much meant only one thing: it was a ploy to get her out of the house, just so that Amanita could peacefully work on something herself.
Without much of an argument, Fennel did as her sister told her to. She was going to take it easy for the day, maybe frolic in the flowers with Drea- wait a second, that trainer looked familiar. The scientist had to backtrack a bit just to take a double take of the girl. Yep, definitely a familiar face.
She approached the trainer, a huge smile plastered on her face. âFancy seeing you here in Casteliaâs very own Central Plaza! Youâre that trainer that helped me out before, arenât you? And Aurea gave you a Pokemon too. What was your name again? Hilda- no, thatâs not it. Hmmm... Rosa! That was it!â

Welcome, Challenger || Sabrina & Fennel
espmistress:
The Psychic smirked at Fennelâs answer. She had a felling the other would have wanted to battle the trainers in the gym first. This was good. While Fennel was making her way up through the gym to battle her, Sabrina wanted to stay and watch. Unfortunately, that would give Sabrina a slight advantage over the other, with watching how they battle and coming up with counterattacks during their battle. The leader stepped backed and out of the way from Fennel.
âYour first battle is with Cameron. Heâs a newer student of mine, recently moved from Johto.â Sabrina said. She then pointed towards the only warp panel in the room. âTake that warp panel and youâll find him in the next room, Fennel. When that battle is finished, youâll want to make your way through the maze of warp panels battling the trainers in your way until you reach the center of the gym, where Iâll be located.â She paused. She had a really good feeling that the Unova-native would enjoy making her way to the center via the warp panels.
The Leader closed her eyes and opened them with a warm smile. âOf course, youâre also allowed to leave the gym to visit the Pokemon Center to heal your team. Your progress would be saved so you wonât have to rebattle any trainer youâve already fought. I wish you luck, Dr. Fennel, and I hope you have fun while here. Iâll be waiting for you and looking forward to our battle.â
And with her welcome, Sabrina walked over to the warp panel and stepped on it, which warped her to the next room.
âA warp panel?â Fennel had heard of them before, but had never used one herself. She had never expected to find one at a gym, but then again she didnât know what to expect from a gym. The fact that she could go to the Pokemon Centre at any time was even a surprise, but a lovely one.
She stepped onto the panel and suddenly was in a different room. A small wave of dizziness passed over her, along with a hint of nausea. Obviously her body wasnât used to warping. Still, it was so efficient! Maybe she should have some installed in her own home in Castelia! It would be so much easier to warp straight from the third floor into the lobby, or straight into bed after working all day. Even though it was basically two steps to get to bed, it wouldâve been a lot more fun.
Suddenly a Slowpoke came into her line of sight and Fennel remembered her surroundings. The boy in front of her - Cameron, probably - was ready to battle while she was there admiring the warp panel. âAlright Dream! Letâs see how we can fare in our first gym battle!â  She threw the pokeball containing the Munna into the air, calling it out.
Long story short, Dream, Mist, and Blade fainted pretty quickly. Actually, Dream and Mist managed to make one of the Slowpokes faint, Blade managed to beat the second one, but the Slowbro was the one that was too tough to defeat in the end.
Honestly, Fennel was a bit disappointed that she couldnât even get past the first battle. But this was a learning experience! Next time, for sure, she would beat Cameron, and then the rest of the trainers! Now, time to get to the Pokecentre.
First, she wanted to give Sabrina an update. She started yelling towards the wall, âI didnât win the first battle but Iâm going to-â She remembered how Sabrina was able to speak into her mind at the beginning, and so maybe it would be easier to think what she wanted to say to the gym leader. âI didnât win the first battle but Iâm going to keep on trying until I face you!â Then Fennel ran to the Pokecentre and back, ready for round two with fully healed Pokemon.
Experiments in the rain | Fennel & Quentin
q-less:
Quentin liked the rain. He couldnât explain why, but something about it was so fascinating to him. Ever since he was a small child he loved watching from his bedroom window as the world got wetter and wetter during the downpours. He would sneak out of the house on occasion to become a part of the passing storms. Now that Quentin was out on his own, he never sought cover from the rain. He didnât mind the wet clothes or hair, he just enjoyed the experience of being in the rain.
Thatâs why Quentin was out on a particularly wet day in Sinnoh. He had been wandering in the rain for what felt like forever, and he was loving every minute of it. With a large smile, the scientist kicked and splashed into puddles of various sizes like a little kid would have, all while quietly humming and whistling to himself. The whole scene made Quentin appear very childish, not at all like the dignified scientist he saw himself as.
As Quentin walked down the path, he jumped over some puddles, splashed into some, and was paying more attention to the falling rain and the cloudy sky than where he was going. He wasnât expecting to run into anyone else. Most people didnât like the rain as much as Quentin did, and would have been inside instead of walking around. By the time Quentin had noticed someone walking his way, it was too late. The two had already collided and Quentin was sent backward from the impact. The force of the blow also caused Quentin to slip on the wet ground, and he tumbled to the earth with a loud thud.
Quentin squirmed on the ground for a few seconds, wincing in pain. He managed to get up, giving the person he ran into a thumbs up, while rubbing his lower back to ease the pain.
âDonât worry about it. Iâm fine. Iâve had worse falls than that.â Quentin managed to get out, taking a deep breath. âI never pay attention to where Iâm walking, so that was probably my fault anyway. What about you, you okay?â
âAre you quite sure about that?â The look on his face and the thumbs gave two completely different messages. He probably just didnât want her to worry. There was no point in doing so anyways; if he was severely injured then he would have said something, hopefully, or would have at least yelped in pain.
Fennel was easily able to remove what mud hadnât soaked into her lab coat, and all that remained was a large stain with flecks here and there. She could also feel a dull ache where she fell, and knew it was going to bruise. But that was nothing. When working in a lab, especially in one with a lot of physical (and potentially harmful) experiments, bruises were just another commodity! Even Fennel considered cuts to hurt more than bruises, mainly because they stung so much.
âAnyways, Iâm fit as a fiddle, thank you very much for asking!â She twirled around just to show how unhurt she was, almost slipping on the mud and falling again. Oh, the woes of being tall and clumsy! It was much easier to fall, but luckily Fennel managed to stay on her feet this time.
She could feel the rain starting to seep through her coat. Her sleeves were still rolled up, and she could see that the skin was starting to get goosebumps from the cold. What was worse was that she didnât think to bring any extra clothes with her to the abandoned building, not having anticipated the rain, and she couldnât just walk around in the shorts she had on underneath. Her body temperature would plummet, and then sheâd catch a cold.
Speaking of colds, this man would get one soon if they didnât get out of the rain. âWe should get inside before you get any more soaked!â What kind of sucked was that her experiment wasnât going to be a go until the rain stopped. At least there was a whole abandoned house to explore.
*gives you they key to guzma's dreams, those dark, dark, nightmarish dreams*

âDid you make this especially for me? Youâre too kind, Anonymous!â
Have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth AZ the Wise? I thought not. It's not a story the protagonists would tell you. It's a Kalosian legend. Darth AZ was Kalos royalty, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence Pokemon t
âIs there really such a legend?! You must take me to Kalos immediately! And could this Darth AZ really influence Pokemon with this âForceâ? You have to tell me everything!â
/PUTS YOUR FLIPPING GLASSES. STOP IT WOMAN.
âStop what?â she asked, opening the mini fridge in front of her. Inside were two rows of jell-o containing various items. Some had copies of gym badges that she had managed to make with her 3D printer, others had the strangest things she could find around her home, like a USB key. Fennel took one out of the fridge, this one containing a ping pong ball, and offered it to the anonymous person. âJell-o?â
âI wonder how much jell-o Iâll need for April foolâs..â
