Once you love something, does it ever leave you?
Even if that flame died down over the long drizzly years, with the right spark and some luck at the right moment, it could easily get reignited again, as if it has always been quietly smoldering inside you. Sometimes, you wouldn’t even mind being burnt all over again. And sometimes, you learn how to get closer without getting burnt again. Then, you finally start to understand the thing you love.
It’s so strange.

『 花 』
Someone once said, flowers make good gifts because when they wither, people wouldn’t feel bad about throwing them away. But the flowers others gave to me, they wouldn’t wither even without care. Under the muted heat of the tropics, they thrive, as if an illusion.

Salvaged smile
If you can’t live the way others do, will it be alright to live the way you know how? Gently, searching for something you can love.
If you can’t love something the way others do, will it be alright to find a different way to love? Quietly, tracing along the shore of another’s.

Tribute to the film あの夏、いちばん静かな海。- A Scene At The Sea (dir. Takeshi Kitano)
吉野山 (Yoshinoyama - Mount Yoshino) is a cherry blossom spot in Nara, Japan with a very thoughtful concept of planting the trees in four different groves at different altitudes, so that the flowers bloom in gradation over time. That way, the cherry blooms that otherwise last only for a very brief time can be enjoyed all spring long. Although it also means there will never be a complete full bloom from top to bottom, it’s a kind gesture to give a chance for more people whether they come early, on time, or late into the season. I think that’s beautiful.
Even when long forgotten, it’s still there.
If there were only one thing left that these empty hands could grab, I think I’d want it to be your outstretched hand If it were too clean, it’d be terrifying, so I’d like it to be a little dirty
From Kenshi Yonezu’s Nighthawks. Translation credit: @vgperson Also loosely based on Flamingo.
For all the things lost, loved and longed for
At times, I’d find something so plain and simple, just another thing among many others, yet something about it strikes me as painfully beautiful.
Why this particular one, and not another?
At times, I’d say, “I don’t like such and such things” only to find an exception or two after quite some time. Always.
I still can’t, but I want to believe in our capacity to accept and love.

the same words that never reach, the bridge you can only pretend to burn the gentleness always rejected, the crimes you close your eyes to and quietly shoulder

It never ceases to amaze me how something can hold so much ugliness and beauty at the same time. Sometimes the place I thought to be the safest also become the place that makes no sense and constantly breaks the things I believe in. Slowly learning to believe in new, different things from now on is difficult, but perhaps it gets easier with time.
♫ Background music on loop: Kenshi Yonezu’s Lemon
Meanings wouldn’t soar forever. Desires would be shed. Promises would simply wither or perish.
However, you don’t have to experience every single thing to truly live.
You are alive, here. You are alive, now. You, and nothing else.
To reveal a scar; to chance upon another who could look at it as a natural and not a hideous thing.
It’s hard to be just one thing and not another. Occasionally we become someone else, and that’s okay too.
