Hey mechs fans, how do we feel about cross- stitch patch Aurora?

I've just been completely hyperfocused on this for like two days, oops

Just incase anyone wants the pattern for this, here you go!

A bifrost incident patch that I embroidered for a friend a while back.

It was actually my first piece of embroidery, and it did take me over a year to complete (I may have forgot about it for months). It also might be upside down in the photos.

It's a copy of the official patch, so credit for the design goes to the original artist :)

“Guinevere you’re my stars, Arthur you’re my night”

so Kofi says stars exist in concept and as symbolism on Fort Galfridian. they haven’t SEEN stars but they have STORIES about stars. the symbol of Fort Galfridian is a star. they know what stars are, in that stars are little twinkly things in space. Stars are also, because they’re the logo of the ship that was on all the uniforms and so on, a symbol of authority, social cohesion and order. When Lancelot says “Guinevere, you’re my stars,” he’s calling her the grounding point, the thing that makes sense and brings order, and the wider world.

Night, according specifically to Kofi (whose opinion is the important one here because he wrote the Blood and Whiskey lyrics), does exist on the station, when the Tube Sun is shuttered/shuts down/flickers out/whatever it does, and although most of the heat on the station comes from the Actual Star Avalon, the Tube Sun does produce heat and bright, blinding light. so night is a time when the inner levels become marginally cooler, the glare settles down, and the world is safer. So “Arthur, you’re my night” means that Arthur is something that makes the world more survivable and more welcoming, a cool breeze in a burning world.

it is, objectively, SO FUCKING ROMANTIC

but it’s also not, as I had assumed, that Kofi just hadn’t thought it through (which he will freely admit is why the song says “West” when the equivalent cardinal directions are Clockwise and Widdershins). he wrote the lyric “Guinevere, you’re my stars” not just KNOWING they hadn’t seen the stars but specifically with reference to what the concept of a star meant to them. which is pretty cool.
