“I think the wonderful thing about having gone to drama school is they made every single person well aware of just how cut-throat and hard this industry can be. So I was all too aware that it’s a marathon, not a sprint.”

Alice tried not to giggle too loud as she shoved Molly’s hand away in an equally as playful manner, adjusting herself to a far more comfortable position. “I don’t see why not. Running’s so much fun,” she said, opting for lying on her back in the end after a bit of fuss. “Especially if it’s a chase. Then you’ve really got your focus set on one thing.” She’d always liked to run, ever since she was a kid, and not just as some sort of game. She didn’t necessarily need to be tall or have a certain build to run. Sure that helped but it wasn’t everything. “See I think she’s only acting strange because she’s having an affair with Andreas, you know the shifty handsome, dark haired one. She’ll end up being pregnant with his baby or something, another subplot.”
As Molly went on about where they’d be in five years, there was a strange feeling in her chest. They really could have those lives in such a short space of time and it was crazy to even think about it. “I read this article in this magazine Vi left lying around, most people have apparently met who they’re going to marry by now. I don’t reckon that’s true, but if you had to choose anyone you know, who’d it be?” she asked, turning on her front and looking up at Molly. For now they could at least turn life in to a game. “What’s your perfect life?”
“And that is why you’re going to be an Auror, and I’m not,” Molly whispered, grinning. “I don’t know how on earth you do it. I’ve got about one mile in me then I’m short of breath and collapsing on the ground.” She grabbed a pillow, fluffing it and lying on her back as well besides Alice. “Godric, I was so mad when they started seeing each other! Even if Andreas does have a delicious accent that doesn’t mean she should’ve cheated on him. Poor bloke.”
Alice’s question left her seriously wondering. Had she already met the person she was going to marry? It was almost daunting – but she reminded herself that this wasn’t a serious conversation. It was a late-night chat between two snickering sixteen-year-olds, so Molly felt perfectly at ease joking around. “My perfect life...well, I hope if I end up going into medicine, I’ll end up being a Healer at St. Mungo’s. I think I’d like to live by the sea, or somewhere near a farmer’s market where I can get fresh fruit on the weekends,” she said, rambling a bit. “I’d like four kids...but I don’t know about who I’d choose to marry. Hm, let’s see.” Molly tapped her finger to her chin, considering the boys in her life. At the moment, she didn’t really have a crush on anyone. She was best mates with Ted, and close with Felipe and Frank, and of course there was that awkward thing with Amos, and she’d been becoming better friends with–
“Oh no,” Molly breathed, a sudden, embarrassing realization hitting her. They were friends, just friends, but the thought of them as an item...? Godric. Her cheeks suddenly flushed red (coincidentally, the same color as the certain boy occupying her thoughts). “...Merlin, I think I’ve got a crush on Arthur–”

Felipe shook his head, he just wanted to win really. “Yeah, yeah, but our chances will be worse if we don’t win this match” he said as a matter of fact.
He saw the chaser aiming towards Ravenclaw’s goalpost but the keeper caught the quaffle just in time. "YES!!“ He cheered loudly. His attention snapped quickly at both seekers. The Slytherin one was quite hurt, but his broom was fast. "Come on, come on!! Knock him off!” He exclaimed, bumping his hand against the rail.
“ – WITCHES AND WIZARDS, WE’RE UP FOR A STUNNING RACE! THEY’RE NECK AND NECK NOW – A FINELY AIMED BLUDGER COMING FROM SLYTHERIN – IT MISSES! A SLOTH-GRIP ROLL FOR THE RAVENCLAW SEEKER, BUT SHE’S LOST SOME SPEED – SLYTHERIN’S BEEN HIT! RAVENCLAW SNATCHES THE SNITCH FROM RIGHT UNDER HIS NOSE! THAT’S A WIN FOR THE EAGLES, WHO NOW HAVE A CHANCE TOWARDS THE CUP –”
Molly let out a whoop of elation, waving her flag wildly in the air before turning to Felipe with eyes bright with joy. “See! SEE! What did I tell you?” she said, a wide grin on her lips. “Don’t count you occamies before they hatch!”
Sounds like a raw deal.

“I’m hoping that’s going to be the case. It would be a waste of a dream if it turned out to be slow and boring, wouldn’t it?” Alice had always been the kind of person that did everything she could to get what she wanted. An optimist at heart she believed if she worked hard and stood up for everything she believed in then there was really no reason what she wanted wouldn’t be achievable. “It was either become an auror or a hit witch, they both sound exciting,” she beamed. “Sometimes it’s the obvious answers that are the right answers. It’s either him or Jane,” she said decisively. “If you had to choose, who’d you go for?”
She was careful not to make too much noise as she laughed slightly, “Mum taught me to make a few healing potions from her mediwitch days that are actually quite useful.” She tucked her hands behind her head and looked up towards the ceiling. “I’m feeling pretty good about my herbology marks,” she said honestly. She’d taken quite a shine to the subject, probably under her mother’s influence. She tilted her head to look at her friend, “It’s a little scary, isn’t it? These career meetings. It makes everything seem so much closer.”
“Ooh, a hit witch!” Molly breathily, poking Alice’s thigh playfully. “See, you’re awfully athletic and all that – I never run unless I’m chasing down Fabian or Gideon.” She grinned, letting out a laugh. “The only way I’m a hit witch is if I hit the two of them on the backside of the head when they’re misbehaving.” At her friend’s question, she spared no time in answering back. “Oh, I’d bet on Jane, of course. She’s been acting rather suspicious ever since the whole show began – especially when she ran off and left Matthias Smethwyck in the rain. That’s a rather nasty thing to do to your fiancé, don’t you think?”
Molly nodded in agreement, momentarily lost in thought. Everything did seem much closer. Time seemed to fly past with almost alarming speed, and Molly felt as if she needed to sprint to keep up. After a second delay, she shook herself, the dreaminess falling from her eyes. “It is a bit scary. Think: just five years from now, we’ll be living away from home with jobs...maybe we’ll be married...maybe we’ll be off in some completely different place.”
