Introducing: The Secret Dear Heart Gift Exchange Event!
A secret santa-style gift exchange for fans of The Amazing Devil!
You will be randomly assigned someone to anonymously make a gift for. Someone else will be assigned to make a gift for you.
Each gift will be a small, digital creation that can be easily shared online (more about that below).
On Saturday, June 27, you will reveal your identity and share your gift with your recipient. (This coincides with the 10th anniversary of Love Run. So, essentially, we’ll be exchanging gifts to celebrate 10 years of TAD!)
Thursday, May 14 - sign-ups open
Thursday, May 28 - sign-ups close
Monday, June 1 - you will receive an email telling you the name of your giftee and any additional other information they shared about themselves
Saturday, June 27 - gifts are exchanged and identities are revealed! Send your gift over email, and if you want to, share it on here Tumblr as well.
What kind of gifts can I make?
You can make anything that’s 1) something you can email and 2) related to The Amazing Devil.
Artwork depicting scenes/images from songs
Fanart of Joey and/or Madeleine
Poetry or short fiction inspired by the songs (ex. a short story about what’s really happening in That Unwanted Animal, a love story using lines from Fair, a poem from the point of view of a robot vampire …)
Edits (such as collages, moodboards, gifsets, etc.) related to the music
You performing a cover of a TAD song
A short animatic set to a portion of a TAD song
No AI may be used to create your gift
All gifts must be SFW (aim for a PG13 rating or below)
Avoid RPF. References to or art of Joey and Madeleine are fine, but avoid writing stories that use them as main characters.
Respect your giftee’s boundaries. Everyone will have an opportunity to request their gifter avoids certain subject matter. Be respectful and follow these instructions.
Keep these gifts small and simple. Think: 1-2 illustrations, 1-2 moodboards, ~30 seconds of an animatic, <3k words of fiction, etc.
What else do I need to know?
Some random bits of information that didn't fit in any other section:
After regular sign-ups close, I will open sign-ups for “pinch hitters” who are willing to make a gift on short notice. If someone drops out of the exchange, I’ll reassign their giftee to a pinch hitter.
You are welcome to chat with your giftee through anonymous Tumblr ask prior to giving your gift. This is a fun way to get to know them and learn more about their interests. Just don’t forget to keep it on anon!
If, while browsing your giftee’s blog, you learn that you have a fandom in common, it’s totally fine to make a gift related to that fandom. Just make sure that it’s also related to TAD. (Ex. a character gifset that uses TAD lyrics, a ficlet that puts your otp at the party from Drinking Song for the Socially Anxious, etc.)
And finally, a caveat: I am the only person running this exchange, and I’ve never run a fandom gift exchange before. I’ll probably mess up! I might take a long time to respond to questions! Your patience is appreciated.
