***Emma’s POV***
Finally, after a lonngggg softball practice I was home and I could take this damn USSSA Pride uniform off. I love my team, but hate practice, it practically kills you. It’s been the worst day and I'm just pissed off. My mom is coming to visit and I know she will criticize me entire life, my best friend is out of town and I just need to relax. I am so happy to see my boyfriend of 3 years, Christian. But when I go to walk in our bedroom, I hear him on the phone with someone and decide to just listen in on it. I hear him mention my name and some other girls name and he says “ yeah man, a few years back i had the option of dating Emma or this girl Sydney, but i figured ill ask out Emma because Dee had his eyes on Sydney.” At this point I was filled with rage and jealousy and i just wanted to lay in bed and cry and I guess i started to because Christian heard and ran out the door and asked “ babe, what happened? are you okay?” At first, I didn’t answer him and I just sat there feeling stupid and like a backup plan. “ When were you going to tell me that I’m just a fallback for another girl that you couldn’t have?” He just looked at me with a look that I have never seen and it made me so confused. I couldn’t tell if he was angry or sorry or upset. Eventually after about a minute(which felt like a lifetime) he answered “I never meant for you to hear that... I didn’t want you to know about her” The fact that he didn’t even want to tell me that I’m a **second choice** and just let me believe that I’m his #1 makes me feel like literal shit. I planned to spend my life with this man and I’m finding out that to him I was just a choice, and even worse, I was the second choice. I realize I’ve spaced out thinking of all this and that Christian is saying my name. “I just want you to know that I love you and I could never have believed that you could have played me so easily. I am not an option, I’m a priority to you or I’m nothing.” and with that i walked out...
