modern high school jegulus au idea:

sirius and regulus don't have cars so james drives them to and from school everyday. one week sirius is home sick, so it's just james and regulus in the car everyday. it's dead silent (and a bit awkward) in the car until james asks regulus if he wants to go to the bookstore on the way home. this turns into getting ice cream the next day, going to see a movie the day after that, etc.

of course the whole time (and before this) both james and regulus have a giant crush on each other, but obviously convince themselves that it's unrequited even though they have basically now gone on five dates.
