i’m sorry but the ENTIRE AIDS CRISIS. just throwing that out there. lgbt american history is still american history. we’ve been through this before, we’ve already hit this rock bottom before, we shouldn’t be surprised. we simply can’t imagine it now because its affecting everyone, not just the “lesser” members of society, the throw-away americans, gay people. suddenly its personal, as if it wasn’t personal to the thousands of lgbt people who lost their family, friends, lovers, etc, and even non-lgbt who had friends and family die from the aids crisis. still fucked up that it’s happening now and i’m not trying to diminish what a horrible piece of shit trump is, but please remember this sentiment when we discuss the aids crisis. what you feel now, the pain for your fellow americans, the anger at the administration running our country, the powerlessness you feel we have, remember we went through it already. we have suffered this same fate before, this is what the aids crisis was to the lgbt community. never forget. sorry to derail the post, i’ve just seen it on twitter and on here and it just strikes smth in me like this is kind of an privileged take. this has happened to natives, to lgbt people, to so many oppressed groups on smaller scales than 20k but still large to their community. we feel this pain every damn time. every time you gloss over the aids crisis, remember your anger towards this. please. then you’ll know.
