Ok so to add on to this im gonna think of it as atsumu×reader:

So now that we're past the "let's date" "im gay" part, welcome to the next part, wherr u and atsumu somehow become friends, you get along and everything's cool w you both. You even forgot abt the whole gay thing-which is going to be important later

Come some time in your third year, maybe mid year or at the end-ish of it, atsumu realises that he's actually in love with u, but he doesnt have a chance bc, yk, ya gay. So now he's spiralling, and skip some avoiding/ignoring on his part, you confront him and ask him wtf is wrong him, so he confesses

So then ur like :0

Bc u legit also had feelings for him, but u totally forgot abt the gay thing and didnt know it was making him feel like that

And then skip a whole ass conversation abt your feelings and yucky emotions and all that; yay! You're together

so, your relationship with him in this fic isn't even going to be abt the sex. the fic starts off with the line "kita shinsuke is a creature of habit." before a following paragraph abt his lil routine, a couple of snide comments made parenthetically by me (bc i enjoy doing shit like that), and then the next paragraph will most likely be "...so why he's currently admiring the way he fits so well in between your legs at ten pm is beyond him. he should be brushing his teeth. he should be, but he's not. he's currently too busy fucking you into your mattress, and normally, straying off course is enough to leave him feeling the tiniest bit annoyed, but he's too focused on the way you feel to really care about something as trivial as a night time routine."

ok, so that was sex. but, like, i swear there's more depth to it!!!! (and pls don't judge those lines 2 harshly, ok, i just banged them out for this ask, that's not entirely how it's gonna go when/if it gets published.) but the story is split into three different parts (possibly...) with each part being like "past", "present", and "future". past being how you met and managed to rope him into doing something like this, present being him coming to terms with his feelings and struggling with handling them properly, and the future being, well, an epilogue of sorts; like a look into the life u two share with each other.

anyways, it's sort of a "polar opposites"-esque fic. he's... well, he's kita — reliable, stable. and you’re... you. wild and spontaneous and there’s probably going to be somewhere in the fic where you just adopt a dog just for the hell of it and yeah u meant well, but u are by no means responsible enough to care for another living being just yet, so kita supposes he just has to make time to care for the doggie for you, and neither of you are going to acknowledge that a fwb wouldn’t normally do this...

so it’ll be you helping him get out of his comfort zone and him helping you actually becoming a functioning citizen of society. you’re sort of an odd pair, but at the same time, it’s hard to imagine one without the other...

and then the fic ends with “kita shinsuke is a creature of habit.” but the following paragraph incorporates you in his everyday routine. and then i have a little cute fluffy surprise and it ends with “...but he supposes that it’s nice to break the routine every now and then.”

You both share a weird comradery(is it spelled that way?) Not exactly friends, obviously not lovers lmao, partners is the closest thing that could describe your relationship w the suicidal man (was he suicidal then? Idk).

So you're both on good terms, You're both traumatised and messed up (like probably everyone else in this shit hole of an organisation), so you thought- why not be an outlet for each other's stress? You use each other merely for sex, just to escape your demons or nightmares or whatever you want to call them

But when he decides to leave, he almost expects you to protest someway, bc you both know that you feel for each other more than what you planned for

But that's not what happens. You give him a long look, sigh in defeat, and go "understandable" with the most expressionless face he's ever seen you with.

And then your facade breaks ever so slightly, "dont get caught"

And it takes everything in him not to pull you with him, to a better life, where you both could be happier together, bc he knows it's probably too late for you to do that, You're way too deep in to leave what you call home. So with that, you share the deepest, and saddest kiss. So emotional omg.

Anyway you could decide how this ends. This could be the ending, or maybe he finds you a few years later when he's at the ada and this time he asks you to come w him. You could go with him bc it's very tempting.

People change; sometimes they change in good ways, for the better. Other times they change completely — into someone we don’t even recognise anymore. Sometimes we close our eyes to this change, or we force ourselves to believe that they can still be the person they once were, or the one we made them out to be. Add love into the mix and you have Atsumu’s situation.

If you play it wrong, love is a losing game. And that’s something that he learns the hard way.

The night you let him go, the night he got who he thought was the girl of his dreams back into his life — he thought he was a champion. Why wouldn’t he? He got her back, and his assumptions have led him to think that you give them your blessing. (Did you? You probably weren’t even sure yourself.) 

At that point, he thought he had it all — the volleyball career he’s worked so hard for, the fairytale ending with the princess he’s loved all this time, as well as a great, supportive friend like you, and his nonchalant yet caring brother.

He had it all.

In his head.

He didn’t realise that the moment you read his letters, the letters he didn’t send out — he’d already lost.

Osamu Miya was always used to being in his brother’s shadow, as far as it came to volleyball.

An inferiority complex borne of the fact that Atsumu was always considered the better one, because after all, who is he to compete with the ‘top setter in Japan’? He’d learnt to be okay with it, to not let it bother him as much. Until he got to know you — you, who was writing up a piece for the school paper about the boys’ volleyball team. You, who had stars in your eyes whenever you saw Atsumu in action. You, who he couldn’t help but notice didn’t get the same reaction when it was Osamu who touched the ball. But he’s always known you were an inherently kind soul, right from the first moment you made sure to compliment them both, even though you were clearly more interested in Atsumu.

Everyone always was.

And he didn’t know why, maybe it was because of the warmth — the good energy — that you radiated, or maybe Atsumu just found you pleasing to the eyes (Osamu knows he himself sure thinks so), but that spurred Atsumu to make friends with you. It helped that you were very welcoming to Osamu too, because that’s how he managed to get close to you; sometimes hang out with you and just you alone.

He remembers the first time the two of you hung out, and each and every time after that. He remembers those local coffee shops that stole endless hours of conversation, when Osamu got the rare glimpses of the mind that he learned to grow fond of. He remembers the way you bite your lip when you concentrate enough, the way you smile when you blush, the way you tap your fingers one at a time against the tabletop when you get slightly impatient, even the way you tuck a lock of hair behind your ear when you get nervous.

Osamu realised then, that he viewed you differently than he viewed others. He didn’t usually waste time observing people’s habits off the court, but how was it that he was able to memorise all of yours right off the bat? It felt so effortless, and he realised it’s too late to stop — because he was already falling.

Atsumu Miya is both a blatant perfectionist and a passionate lover.

The former more usually relates to Atsumu as a volleyball player. On the court he’s a perfect picture of confidence and seriousness. If there’s one thing you’ve realised over the years is that he has ridiculously high expectations for himself (and his teammates). Although, sometimes that can veer into a bad direction. Rattled even more by a strong hatred of losing.

The latter refers to Atsumu off the court; more specifically, when he’s with you. He always makes sure to rush to you after every game, carry you up in his arms and spin you around; to show you off just the way you like. If he loses, you’re his first go-to once everything ends. He loves hugging you tight, inhaling deeply as the scent of the shampoo lingering in your hair fills his nostrils. And to everyone around you, the two of you are the “it” couple — the one everyone is envious of.

But that’s not the case. Not really.

Because beneath his actions lies a different meaning. Atsumu loves you. He really does. But just never as much as you love him, and probably not in the way he wishes it to be. How can he not love you? All you’ve ever done is try to better his life, even if that meant at the expense of your own. He loves that you’re so genuine; so earnest. You only want the best for him, and he can tell it’s real. But something’s bugging him. It always has.

And you know it, too.

You notice it, even in the small instances. And today, you’re finally about to find out why.

So I've been thinking of a miya atsumu x reader concept:

You and oikawa tooru were dating in 3rd year of highschool, but then you break up (shocker!) He has a future full of only volleyball and there is no place for you, no place for you to share his happiness in victories or sadness in losses- so he's done. Come to a few years later where you're a manager or sth to msby- guess who meets you there!! Stupid atsumu with his stupid hair with his stupid everything reminding you of your first love, too good and too reckless and too handsome. And this time you tell yourself no more falling in love w sports players bc we all know how that one turned out. But!! atsumu has other plans, and they certainly dont align with how you've been living your life until now👁👅👁

Anyway im too lazy to continue this, but like that's the general backstory/gist ig. You and atsumu go through some weird slowburn phase, and obviously you get together, but not before possibly revealing to him why you're so reluctant abt this, and then him showing you that he's different or whatever, all that stupid sappy shit, we all know it.

a/n: well uhm. this fic is rlly loosely based on the song cupids chokehold by gym class heroes. would recommend giving it a listen but its about kuroo. not typical kuroo characterization tbh. a lot of emotion. i love this man sm. 

italics mean flashback!! also this fic vaguely hints at kuroos career in time skip but no serious spoilers. 

plot summary: kuroo tetsuro has been in two serious relationships in his life. at the end of the day he finds himself in more pieces than whole but you - you help him put it all back together again. 

Kuroo Tetsuro is a hopeless romantic whose been in love twice in his whole life. 

People give him the same reaction upon hearing this - surprise. It’s impossible to miss the little arch of brow and quirk of lips, and on the occasion a gasp. Soft, but genuine. He’s never understood how he’s supposed to react to a knee-jerk reaction like that, nor does he know what to make of it. He knows what he looks like, wild hair and lazy grins. He’s flirtatious at worst, and from what he’s heard - good at conversation. And, though he’s not cocky - the vibes he gives off apparently are… sexy? Is that the word? It makes him cringe to think about. 

In essence, people look at Kuroo Tetsuro and assume that he’s been around the block. It’d been like that since high-school - having taken on the natural mantle of team captain on his highschool volleyball team. He had a dominating aura, he figures. Into his adulthood, this assumption only grew stronger and harder to avoid. He was, perhaps more unaware to his looks, than he’d assumed before. Women and men alike approached him trying to get him in bed. Tried being the key word. 

Truthfully, Kuroo doesn’t like one-night stands. Kuroo doesn’t even really like sex without feelings. Nothing gets his dick harder than love, and even if he isn’t in a committed relationship his preference is a friends with benefits connection. Someone whose genuinely a friend, who he can have sex with from time to time. Even that was dangerous territory - his heart had a handle on him that he’d never quite understood. Sex is… fine. But, having someone play in his hair and complain about their day because they trust him - that’s unmatched. 

In reality, it had affected him a lot. Especially in highschool, where any girls he approached rejected his sincere advances out of fear. An odd amount of rumors spread, plenty of girls he’d never talked to telling their friends they hooked up. A double-edged sword - his male classmates had respect for him that made him feel sick - and the girls he really liked, never seemed to see him for who he was. 

He has a slick-mouth and endless attitude. He could be playfully arrogant, and teasing when he wanted to be but never for more than one girl. He always ever wanted one person to want him just as badly as he wanted them. He thinks he gets it from being a mama’s boy his whole life, perhaps his parents happy marriage had influenced the type of person he always wanted to be. He just wanted someone to have only eyes for him - nothing more and nothing less. 

In highschool, there was one girl who’d ever seen him for who he was. This was one of two of Kuroo Tetsurou adventures in falling in love.
