Chixie sat on the floor of the train car, her anxiety rattling her just a bit. She had already been worried because of Zebruh, but seeing a purpleblood on the platform made it skyrocket. Her thinkpan was throbbing just imagining dealing with more highbloods at Jeevik week. Though, she wouldn't let the daunting thoughts ruin this for her. A week-long train ride might be the only time she could actually relax, despite the noise of the crowded car. The universe was clearly moving things around for her.
She had even made two new friends on the platform, a bronze blood, Joey, and a burgundy blood, Xefros. They were both nice enough, but what amazed her was when Joey just walked up to Marvus. She quickly turned her head the minute she saw her walk up to him. She expected to hear screaming, the sound of bodyguards or drones rushing in to defend the clown. So it came as a surprise when she heard none of that, but instead heard him talking to them. He seemed to be actually enjoying their company. Even weirder he appeared to be helping them, he didn't even ask for anything in return. Part of her wanted to believe he was doing all this with good intentions, but she was still skeptical. She'd had one too many fake friends, most of whom were highbloods, take everything from her. From her music to her whole persona as an artist, the only reason it hadn’t happened a lot recently was cause of Zebruh, and he was the fakest, horniest, “friend” she’d ever had. It was purely by the grace of Troll Jesus that he was such a simp she could just flatter him and get out of anything physical. Though she knew that won’t work forever, and that only added to her nervousness.
She needed this protest to go well, she wanted…no- needed people to recognize her for who she was and not just the indigo who promotes her. And if she dies, then fuck it, at least she went out speaking her truth. She’d honestly rather get culled than have to spend another second with Zebruh. She was broken out of her anxious thoughts by the sound of her palmhusk going off. She checked her notifications to see messages from her favorite burgundy blood friend…and Zebruh. She stalled for a few seconds to decide whose message to answer first before. She chose to check Zebruh’s first to keep him from ruining whatever good mood Red would put her in::
THECODAKKEFFECT:: Hey do you want me to bring you to the indigo car? I know the lowblood cars can be pretty crowded! You can sit on my lap and stay in my room if you want!❤️
Chixie grimaced at the thought of having to have any more physical contact with him.She swiftly texted back::
Chixie:: No thanks. I found a seat so I'm fine!
She tried to be as calm and direct as she could, it was already taking all her strength not to completely go off at him. She was so tired of talking to him, she really thought he was done for the week. She assumed that with all the purple bloods and other blue bloods around he wouldn't have the energy to bother her but of course, she was wrong. He's still just as horny as ever and behaving like an absolute oinkbeast.
She heard the device ping again, but she didn’t bother to read it. She already knew he would just whine and beg until she caved in. She finally turned her attention to the message of Red::
R3dSplatter:: I’m on the train now! I’m helping out my matesprit in the teal and jade blood car.
She cocked her head at the device. A burgundy with a midblood matesprit?
Now, Chixie didn’t care or pay much attention to the hemospectrum when it came to quadrants, but that sounded highly unlikely, bordering on unbelievable. Jades never left the caverns and Teals never got into any relationships that didn't benefit them. Unless this relationship with Red's matesprit was of the Zebruh variety where they're being completely taken advantage of, it felt impossible.
Chixie:: Oh you have a matesprit…Are they nice to you?
R3dSplatter:: Of course, they're nice to me! They're my matesprit.
Chixie:: No, I know. I just wanted to be sure. I'm also in contact with someone of a higher blood caste and they're not that great.
R3dSplatt3r:: Are they your matesprit?
Chixie:: Absolutely not!
R3dSplatter:: Then why do you talk to them?
Chixie:: I only stay near cause, right now, he’s my ONLY means of making ends meet. He's the only thing keeping me from losing all my gigs at this point. And he's a critic so he could ruin my whole career, if he wanted. But besides that, he's a skeevy creep that hits on every lowblood troll he ever meets.
R3dSplatter:: Sounds like a real pain in the ass. You must really hate him.
Chixie:: I do, Highbloods aren't all that great to be around for trolls like us. Sorry if I was being insensitive about your matesprit but I've seen what happens when a lowblood is in a relationship with a highblood. It's not pretty.
R3dSplatter:: Don’t worry, I’ve seen it too. I can promise you they’re the sweetest I’ve ever met. But if I had to deal with someone like that, I’d be cautious too.
Chixie:: That’s why I need this performance to go well, if everything works out at Jeevik Week, maybe I can finally move on from him!
R3dSplatter:: I wish you the best, You deserve only greatness.
The bronzeblood felt her face grow warm at that comment, but something still didn’t feel right about all this. A voice in her thinkpan kept telling her something was off about Red but she just couldn't figure out what it was. She didn't hate or distrust them, in fact, they were the nicest troll she'd ever met. It didn't feel like they were only being nice because they wanted something from her but she kept doubting what they told her. It just felt like someone that was either really naive or hadn't experienced the terror of Alternia yet. And knowing what she knew there was no way someone of an even lower blood caste than her could be protected from the horrors of this planet for long. Even newborn grubs didn't get that privilege, let alone someone around her age.
Chixie tried to not think about it anymore. Red had been the most supportive friend she'd made and they weren't looking to hurt or pail her. Why ruin such a pure relationship with hypothetical and vague doubts?
Chixie:: Thank you! How about we meet up later? I'd be happy to meet your matesprit as well!
She closed the messages and put her palm husk away. No more interruptions and no more stress. A week of no Zebruh and no stress. Just her, the fifty other trolls in the car, and her thoughts.

Chixie's body was going to ache for weeks. The train had sped up out of nowhere, forcing her to hold on to the chair leg for dear life as a pile of bodies lined the back of the car. Miraculously, she was alive despite the violent speed of the train. If she were any weaker she would've splattered like a wriggler on the cavern floors, luckily, she only got whiplash. Unfortunately, she had no lodgings for the now week-long stay until Jeevik week started. Even worse, Zebruh survived and asked if she would like to share a hivetel room with him. She whipped out her palmhusk faster than Troll Usain Bolt to ask Cridea about accommodations. Cridea answered her, there was potential free lodging for performers. She, of course, took it in a heartbeat, she would do anything to avoid sharing a room with Zebruh. That reminded her she needed to check on Red, maybe Xefros, and Joey too.
Chixie:: Red are you okay? I hope you didn't get hurt on the train.
Chixie texted but received no answer. She waited a few minutes before she actually got worried.
Chixie:: Red are you good? You're worrying me. Please answer me.
Chixie started to panic, frantically texting her missing friend. Someone bumped into her, breaking her out of it. She took a deep breath and stopped herself. It was entirely possible Red was just busy with their matesprit or even could've lost their palm husk in the struggle. She decided to just keep calm. She had to perform in a week and wasn’t about to stress herself even more. She would take a walk to get her mind off of things.
She wandered around the concert venue and the various dressing rooms. To her surprise, the lowblood dressing rooms were pretty nice, at least compared to other places she performed. Despite being fully furnished, they were very spacious, there was even a food storage unit! Chixie put up her costumes and backup gear before going to look at herself in the vanity mirror. She's been waiting for an opportunity like this for a long time, and it still felt unreal that it was coming to fruition. She looked at herself for a few seconds more before taking a breath and turning with a skip in her step, walking to the door. Because they arrived so early she had time to take in the sites and actually enjoy herself. She opened the door, excited to look around, only to see a cluster of different casted trolls screaming and crowding around something. She was curious as to what was going on, and that’s when she noticed the lopsided horns and clown makeup. It was that Marvus guy again.
The bronzeblood instinctively narrowed her eyes to the exit, doing her best not to glance at him for even a second. Over the many sweeps she'd been alive she'd perfected the art of avoiding being on any highblood's radar. Unfortunately, her only and biggest failure to date was her meeting with Zebruh, that bastard could smell a lowblood from 50 miles away. Hopefully, the purpleblood wasn't as chronically horny for lowbloods as he was, so she could get by without getting sucked into the crowd and moshed to death. She moved along the wall as fast as she could, pushing past anyone in her way, and apologizing profusely while doing so. She jerked back when a hand grabbed her arm, and she spun around to face an excited olive blood.
"Hey! Can you take a picture of me with Marvus real quick?" She asked excitedly. It was more of a demand, but Chixie was too panicked to even care. She froze immediately, desperately wanting to say no, but this fan seemed awfully young and excited, borderline pushy.
"S-s-sure?" Chixie squeaked out. The olive blood squealed and shoved her palmhusk into her hands. She scrambled to grasp it before it could fall and break, potentially bringing her more pain than she was already going through.
Chixie held onto the device as if her life depended on it which, knowing how fierce olives tend to be, it just might. They both made their way to the middle of the clump, where the clown stood. Chixie did her best to avoid looking at him directly but her nerves were already on fire from being so close to so many trolls of a higher caste than her. She couldn't help but notice Marvus's eyes constantly flickering towards her in between sending smiles and waving at his fans. Why did she have to catch the attention of so many damn highbloods, and the day wasn't even over yet. She should've known only bad things would happen the second she left her dressing room and saw the same purple pecs that Zebruh was so obsessed with.
The small olive gasped and gawked as she walked up to him. She started going on about how much she loved him, how she wanted to be as rich and famous as him one day, prolonging the bronze girl’s torture. Luckily, Marvus eventually cut her off and offered to take a picture with her. It was like he had already heard the entire exchange and was just trying to move things along so Chixie could leave faster. If she didn't already know no highblood would be kind enough to care about her comfort, she would cry in thanks to him.
He scooped the olive girl up into his arms, giving his widest smile. It took Chixie a second to fully calm her nerves and take the picture. But, after the flash went off no more than twice Marvus immediately let go of the olive and moved on to the next person, leaving the girl just enthralled enough to take her palmhusk from Chixie without complaint, or a “thank you” for that matter. She immediately dived out of the crowd the second the device left her hand and jetted out of the hall. She didn't stop running until she was outside and could no longer hear the clatter of all of Marvus's fans.
She found herself panting and wheezing for air. She felt like throwing up, just barely managing to keep it in, when she felt a hand pat her on the back.
“Are you okay?”, a familiar voice said to her. She turned her head to see Joey, with Xefros standing behind her, both equally concerned.
“Ye-yeah I’m fine,” She said as she slowly straightened her posture.
How embarrassing.
Running into her newest friends only to be caught dry heaving outside.
“Just a bit…nervous.” She fidgeted with her fingers a bit, her nerves still rattling.
"Are you sure? We can go get something to drink to settle your stomach," Joey offered, offering her arm to Chixie in assistance.She wrapped her arm around Joey’s to settle herself.
“No, no! I’m Okay really!”
"Hmmm- oh! We have some cookies! Maybe eating that will help?" She happily offered. It was becoming clearer to Chixie that Joey wasn’t gonna give up till she was one hundred percent okay. Which she admired deeply, she just really wasn’t used to being treated like this, by…anyone really. She settled on eating a few cookies, she actually hadn’t eaten anything all day. She wasn't expecting to be offered food either so this was a welcome change. She can now say she doesn't completely regret coming outside. Joey looked at the slight smile on Chixie's as she ate the cookie and sent a quick look to Xefros that he exasperatedly nodded to. She put on a gentle grin before looking back at Chixie.
"Hey, do you want to join us? We're looking around cause we've never been here before. We would love for you to tag along," Joey said with a friendly smile.
Chixie became extremely flustered. She had been referring to them as her friends in her head but she didn't expect them to actually want to spend time with her.
Stress-free time spent with people that actually liked her for who she was and not what she could do for them? This was very very new to her, and she loved it. She tripped over her tongue for a bit before shutting her mouth and nodding rapidly.
"I'd love to hang out with you two!" She could see it now. No judgment, no expectations, no getting ordered around or felt up. It would be glorious.
"Great, let's go!”Joey immediately grabbed her hand and Xefros’s and with a skip in her step, they were off exploring the various vendors and pre-shows.
I said on my writing account I had a whole AU/Headcannon(?) where Hobie is a butch female/afab person, cause when I initially saw pics of him my gay ass thought he was female So I decided to draw 'er.

After several days of calls from Zebruh and texts from Cridea, her ticket had finally come in the mail! The train for Jeevik week left today, but Chixie had been so excited that she’d packed days in advance. In all honesty, she was kinda agitated, having to pack and unpack to make sure she had everything, discussing the schedule with Cridea, and having to deal with the most annoying essence of Zebruh’s clout-chasing. But, the day was finally here, and it would all be worth it.
A honk outside her door took her by surprise, she looked outside the window of the hive and saw a vehicle with an indigo caste symbol on the hood. Normally she wouldn’t trust taking anything from Zebruh, let alone a ride, but the closest train station was miles away, and he was the only one willing and able to give her a ride.
She quickly grabbed her bag and headed out.
The minute she set foot outside Zebruh opened the door and greeted her.
“Hey, Cupcake!”
Chixie felt herself cringe on the inside, but she powered through her disgust and formed a strained smile.
“Hey.” She responded back shortly and quietly as she walked up to him.
He immediately opened the car door and held out his hands.
She lightly grabbed his hand, trying to leave as much space between them as she could, as she hopped in the car.
He closed the door behind her, and Chixie looked up in the driver’s seat, The chauffeur was a burgundy blood, who looked as nervous as Chixie felt.
As soon as Zebruh got in and buckled his seat belt, the driver speeded off.
Chixie jumped a bit as if she’d be snapped out of a trance, she had spent the last minute or so re-reading messages on her palmhusk. They were all from R3dSplatter, and reading them was weirdly calming for her. To have someone to actually talk to about her music, who wasn’t an obsessive indidingdong. She sighed before finally responding to him.
They spent a few minutes in silence before Zebruh spoke up.
“So, you excited to perform, princess?”
“Yeah…but also a little nervous.”
She fidgeted with the device in her hand.
“I’m sure you'll do great. And if you don't I'll be there if you need a shoulder to cry on.”
He said, moving his hand to her thigh. She cringed internally but did her absolute best not to show her disgust.
"You're so sweet," Chixie said, giving him the least forced smile she could before crossing her legs and leaning away in a subtle attempt to get his hand off of her.
She heard her palmhusk ding and looked down to see a message from her new friend.
R3dSplatter:: I can’t wait to see you there, I know you’ll do great!
Chixie smiled at her palmhusk, their words gave her more comfort than anything Zebra could've said.
Chixie:: I can't wait to see you either! Cheer for me okay?
R3dSplatter:: I will!
It took a few hours for them to reach the station, by then Chixie had fallen asleep in the car, Zebruh had actually scooted closer to her, resting her head on his shoulder. He shook her thigh in order to wake her up.
“We’re here, sweetcheeks!” Zebruh whispered into her ear. Chixie opened her eyes and froze when she realized something was touching her. Then she remembered who she was with and her body violently jerked away.
"You okay? You seemed tired so I decided to be a gentleman and let you sleep on me. Didn't mean to surprise you like that," Zebruh said, wrapping his arm around her shoulder in a sleazy attempt to 'comfort' her.
Chixie took a minute to slow her breathing, doing her best not to violently shove him away or cuss him out. She had to remind herself that he was her benefactor and even if he was a creep she couldn't afford to piss him off. She forced a smile once again and replied.
“I-it’s fine, I was just a bit shaken up, is all…”
She said, feeling a few beads of sweat roll down her face.
"No need to be afraid, my dear. The only ones here are me and you. And we both know I would never hurt you!" he replied with a smirk. Chixie resisted the urge to snarkily point out that the chauffeur was also here, but managed to resist.
She could just picture the things he was imagining while he stared at her in such close proximity. Her eyes darted around the vehicle as she thought of an escape plan. Her eyes landed on the station outside the window and she perked up. She immediately reached for the handle, and smoothly slid out of his hold, speaking in the fakest voice of excitement to hide her panic.
"Oh my god, I can't believe we're already here. It was so sweet of you to give me a ride! I should get to the platform. I want to get a good place to stand so I can grab a seat. It was nice riding with you. I'll see you later!" She gushed out, doing her best to seem appreciative and not like she wanted to crawl out of her skin to get away from him. The urge to take a full body bath to get rid of the feeling of his hand on her bare skin was overwhelming but she kept her calm in front of him.
Zebruh immediately hopped out of the car after her “I could always wait with you!”
Chixie froze as she turned back to look at him.
“Y-you don’t have to do all that! I don’t wanna inconvenience you!”
She replied, hoping that for once in his life he would take the hint!
“Nonsense, it would be rude of me not to escort you!”
He held out his hand for her to grab. Chixie hesitated to grab it, but she gave a very audible sigh as she grabbed his hand, and he guided her to the platform.
The two of them got a lot of looks and stares from various trolls in the station, most of them were looks of disgust and confusion from other highbloods. She looked over at Zebruh, he had a disgustingly calm and kinda smug face. As much as he loved to rant about not caring about the hemospectrum, quadrants, or what troll society thought of him, he reveled in the attention it got him. All the stares and whispers were his validation that he was a good “Lowblood Ally”.
Chixie just looked down as they made it to the platform.
When they made it up the stairs she heard Zebruh audibly gasp. She looked up at him to see what was up, only to see his gaze was fixed on a troll near the gate.
She looked over to see what all the fuss was about.
Standing near the gate was a tall, well-dressed, and very well-built purple blood. His hair was a huge mass of curls, and his horns were crooked, with one going out to the side instead of up. He wore a purple suit with gold and black accents, and if the face paint was anything to go by, he was definitely a clown.
Chixie could feel Zebruh’s whole body quake through their hands, as he started to speak.
“Th-Tha-Tha that’s Marvus Xoloto! I knew he was on vacay, but I didn’t think I’d actually get to see him!”
Zebruh almost screamed at the top of his lungs, as he gripped the bronzebood’s hand tighter.
Chixie looked at him even more confused. She had heard that name before, he was some big-shot performer who Zebruh would almost never shut up about. She never really paid much attention to him when he talked about him, it was obvious he just wanted to pail the guy.
Chixie looked over at him in a strange mix of curiosity and disgust. On the one hand, if what Zebruh had told her was true, Marvus was a very vocal social activist, who apparently voiced hatred of the hemospectrum and its oppressive nature in multiple interviews. On the other hand, He was a purpleblood, even if he voiced hatred of it, that didn’t mean anything to Chixie. She has been surrounded by fake activists before and will probably continue to be for the foreseeable future. At the end of the day, Marvus was higher on the spectrum than her, and could easily have her killed if she even looked at him the wrong way. After affirming who he was she immediately diverted her eyes, to avoid trouble. The only good thing about his presence was that Zebruh seemed to forget about her and began to orbit him, slowly getting closer to him and farther from her. In her disdain for the two highbloods, she missed how he had kept an eye on her since she entered. In fact, he had a clear difference in his stance and expression from when Zebruh was holding her hand to when he let go and moved away from her. She missed the way he relaxed as she did the farther Zebruh got from her.
She found a seat by the gate, but far enough to leave some distance between her and the purpleblood.
To fill the silence and quell her anxiety she pulled out her palmhusk to text the only person that currently wasn't making her life worse.
Chixie:: I'm at the platform! Are you here too or will you not be at Jeevik week?
She sent the message when she heard a buzz across from her not even a minute later.
Her best guess was that Marvus had gotten a notification, on his device, however, he didn’t seem to check it right away. Chixie’s anxious mind began to wander a bit. What if she had somehow accidentally messaged him instead of R3dsplatter? She chuckled a bit at the thought, it was a silly thing to worry about. Marvus was a big celebrity, who probably gets hundreds of notifications every minute. She heard another buzz from across the room, validating her theory. Still in the back of her mind, she couldn’t help but think that buzz was too coincidental.

Chixie awoke to the sound of her palmhusk ringing away. She yawned as she got up from her recupercoon to check it. She hoped it was another message from her fan. Maybe even a club calling in for a gig!
She rushed over to check and she sighed when she saw the contact on the screen.
It was Zebruh.
She let out a groan as the device continued to ring and vibrate.
Normally she'd just ignore him and let it ring, but he usually ended up trying to call back a million times anyway.
She decided to give in and answer.
"Hey babe!"
She quietly groaned and gave a simple "hey" in response.
She hated being called pet names and it was too early to try and play nice with him.
"So, you'll never guess what happened today!"
Chixie remained silent, she really was not in the mood for this hoofbeast shit. After about half a minute Zebruh spoke again.
"Come on, at least try!"
She sighed loudly, before sarcastically responding.
"Did you win one of your online fights?"
Zebruh had a habit of being very defensive of Chixie's work. Anytime she got criticism, no matter how fair or nicely worded it was, he'd always throw a hissy fit and start arguments. He claimed it was to get rid of those who "Want to insult and degrade" her. But really all it was doing was pushing more trolls away from her music.
He responded with a fake laugh, trying to hide his annoyance with her.
"No sweetheart,"
He said reverting back to his normal tone.
"I just got off a call with Cridea, and…She wants you to perform at Jeevik Week!"
Chixie froze at the last words that came out of his mouth.
"Y-you're joking right?"
"Of course not, darling! She's sending you a personalized ticket and everything!"
The corners of Chixie's face quickly formed into a nervous smile. She hung up the phone as she screeched and jumped around in joy. Jeevik Week was huge! It was the biggest party in all of Alternia. Usually the performers there were big names, and Chixie was just given the opportunity to perform Alongside them, it was like a dream come true.
But the reality of the world slowly started to set in. Most of the big-name performers were highbloods...And most of their fans were probably highbloods as well... So, so chances are they wouldn't exactly be happy to see some nobody lowblood girl perform.
She felt herself get a bit anxious, and that's when she remembered something.
Her mask.
While it probably wouldn't be the best place to perform, it would be the perfect place to protest!
Sure it was a risky plan, but it was one worth taking. If she could get on stage and stand up against the system. Maybe other trolls would do the same!
She had her mind set, she would protest at Jeevik Week!
She hopped on Twitter to talk to her fan::
@Chixie:: Hey! My next performance is gonna be at Jeevik Week. So if you wanna come see me, I'll be there.
In Almost no time she got a response::
@R3dSplatter:: That's great! Just be careful a'ight? I know things there can get pretty wild.
@Chixie:: I'll do my best to stay safe. Thanks for caring!
With that Chixie began to plan her assault on the system!
I haven't written a fic in so long it hurts, but these two are pulling me out of my slump!

Chixie returned to her hive tired and more furious than ever.
She threw her case of outfits onto the floor.
Another day, another gig taken away by some wannabe highblood performers. She didn't bother crashing their set, all the members were insanely popular purple bloods. To make matters worse, they each had their own set of bodyguards.
Chixie can be brave when she wants to be, but she isn't stupid. She knew when it was a fight she wouldn't win.
She crashed onto her couch sobbing and screaming.
That's when she heard the familiar ping of her palmhusk.
"Oh great…" She said to herself.
Usually, her palmhusk only went off for two reasons, and neither of them was particularly good.
It was either another venue calling to tell her her gig was canceled or that she couldn't perform there anymore.
Or worse, Zebruh calling expecting some form of "reward" for promoting her on his blog.
She begrudgingly got up and took the device out of her case.
To her surprise, it was Chittr dm from an account she didn't recognize.
@R3dSplatter:: Hey! I love your music and your voice! Shame you didn't get to perform tonight :(.
The account icon was of a Burgundy blood, covering his face so only his caste symbol showed. She tapped on the account and scrolled through it. It seemed legit, they were promoting and posting about various underground lowblood performers, kind of like Zebruh. Unlike Zebruh though, they weren't patronizing or self-righteous about it, they seemed to have a genuine love for all these trolls and their craft.
Chixie felt a few tears form in the corners of her eyes. She rarely got any actual compliments for her work. Most of her interactions were from weird bots or desperate trolls trying to get their bulges wet. It felt good to see someone actually enjoy her art. She began to respond:
@Chixie::Thank you! Yeah, it sucks…it's the third time this week my gigs have been pulled, but whatcha gonna do, hehehe…
@R3dSplatter:: Awww, do you at least know when and where your next shows are gonna be?"
@Chixie::I…don't, sorry. Most of the places I had planned already canceled on me. And the ones that haven't probably will eventually.

Spencer Reid has always been an odd man with eclectic tastes. Most people see him as something innocent. You were once convinced of the same. But within a few months of knowing him, you had become intimately familiar with his proficiency at a few things in particular. Things that were far from innocent.
The first sexual encounter you had with him was about what you expected. He was insecure but eager. He tackled the challenge of you with the same scientific curiosity he had for everything else.
If there was one thing that surprised you, however, it was the vigor with which he pursued a very specific activity. He outright begged, complete with slurred speech and pawing hands.
"Please," he begs, "You taste so sweet."

You were charmed by his pitiful behavior, and, eventually, you relent. You grant him full, unadulterated access to your body. There, you know you will learn the true extent of his proficiency.
Spencer looks down at you, already writhing against satin sheets. His pupils are blown and his mouth, though parted, are curved into a smile. Every few seconds, he licks his lips.

“Red alert,“ Gareth hissed at you as he came up next to you at the bar. “Roxie’s here.”
You head spun towards the door. Sure enough, Eddie’s narcissistic ex-girlfriend had just walked into The Hideout with a small gaggle of her closest friends.
“Great,” you muttered, setting your beer down. “Why does she always show up just when we’re really starting to have fun?”
Gareth grunted in agreement, draining the last of the beer from the bottle he was carrying and then ordering another.
You and Gareth both watched as Roxie and company found an empty table to sit. As she sat down, Roxie scanned the small crowd inside bar, obviously looking for someone. It only took a moment before her eyes lit up when she found who she was looking for. You didn’t even have to follow her gaze to know who she was looking at but did just to confirm what you and Gareth were already afraid of.
Roxie had her gaze trained right on Eddie Munson.
You sighed, grateful that at least their set was already over before she got there. They had just gotten their equipment packed away in their respective vehicles about ten minutes ago.

Their names alone made them sound like the perfect heavy metal power couple. They both had the look down; Eddie sporting the same style since high school and Roxie looked like she stepped out of a White Snake video. They met at the first Ozzfest in 1996 and it didn’t take long for them to start dating after meeting. It was only a few weeks into the relationship when Eddie moved in with her. Roxie then spent the next year of their relationship trying to break up Corroded Coffin.
Well. That’s not entirely true.

In the end, it was Roxie who ended the relationship. But, despite that, she kept finding ways to insert herself in his life. The relationship had ended months ago, more than long enough to move on with her life. And yet, she always seemed to conveniently find herself in the same place as Eddie more often than not. It didn’t matter where Eddie was, so long as he was out in public, she made sure to “run into him.”
“Fuck,” Gareth said. “She’s headed right for him.”
Sure enough, Roxie had gotten up from her table and was making a beeline over to the stage where Eddie was talking with Tom, the owner of the bar.
Your eyes narrowed at the woman. While you had never liked her due to your own personal feelings for Eddie, watching what she did to your best friend during that year they were together made you actively hate her. She was the classic definition of a narcissist and everything she did reflected that. It had taken a large toll on Eddie while they were together, and he was still healing from it. Even now, Roxie’s presence was still upsetting enough to him that anytime he had to deal with her, it always left him upset and out of sorts for days.
Sometimes you couldn’t help but wonder if she did it on purpose, knowing how upsetting it was to him just to keep him on his toes.
Your gaze flickered over to Eddie. His back was to Roxie, so he hadn’t seen her yet. Currently, he was laughing heartily at something Tom said.
An idea struck you then. It was something you’d been debating on for a little while now but figured it was actually a very bad idea. Though, now that you had the warm buzz of several beers going through your system. It actually seemed like a really good idea.
Before you could have second thoughts, you slid off your barstool, then smoothed down your skirt and straightened your hair.
“Wait here,” you told Gareth. “Get us a round of shots. I’ll be back with Eddie. Hopefully.”
Garett’s eyebrows shot up in curiosity at your sudden preening, but he nodded and raised a hand to get the bartenders attention.
As you made your way over to Eddie, your heart was pounding. While you had feelings for him ever since high school, you hadn’t given any serious thought to acting on them until the last couple years. For the longest time, you didn’t want to risk the friendship. But then, as the years went on and every single relationship of yours ended badly, thoughts of “what if” began to circle through your mind.
When you got closer to the stage, Eddie saw your movements out of the corner of his eye and glanced over. When he saw it was you, he turned to you fully and grinned.
You came to a stop in front of him and swallowed your nerves. It was now or never.
“It’s my favorite Y/N!” Eddie exclaimed. “What did you think of the sh- hey, what’re you-“
He broke off his initial question when you stepped in close to him, your body lightly pressing against his as you slid your arms around his neck. His second question was broken off when you pressed your lips to his in a slow, deep kiss.
Eddie froze, his body going completely rigid against yours. You kept your eyes closed, silently begging him to play along, if nothing else. But Eddie just stood there, his hands hesitantly coming up to rest on your hips. His touch was so light you were sure he was going to push you away.
You started to pull away, thinking you’d made a terrible mistake.
But just as your lips left Eddie’s, his fingers gripped tightly onto your hips, and he pulled you back to him. His lips crashed back into yours and you gasped in surprise. Eddie seized on your slight slip of composure to take control of the kiss. He dove back into your mouth eagerly, one hand coming up to the back of your neck as his arm slipping around your waist. Melting against him, your arms tightened around his neck, pulling him further down to you.
It was easy to lose yourself in the moment. The Hideout and everyone in it completely faded away until it was just the two of you. Nothing else mattered except the kiss you were sharing. Eventually though you had to break away for air.
Once your lips had parted, Eddie rested his forehead against yours.
“Whoa,” he finally whispered.
You opened your eyes, taking in the blissful expression on his face. His eyes were still closed, and he was licking his lips as if he could taste something good on them.
“Gareth‘s getting a round of shots,” you said softly, which made Eddie’s eyes open and gaze into yours. “Let’s go get ours.”
Eddie nodded dumbly, letting you pull away to take his hand in yours and lead him to the bar.
The rest of the band had assembled where you had left Gareth, and as you made your approach, you saw them all grinning at you. You blushed, realizing they all had seen what just happened.
Once you joined your friends, Eddie took a seat on a barstool, hooking his heels over the bottom rung and sitting with his legs spread wide. As you went to let go of his hand, he surprised you by gently pulling you over to stand between his legs, with your back to his chest. One arm slipped around your waist, casual and relaxed, as he picked up one of the five shot glasses on the bar with his free hand.
It was a gesture you had seen Eddie do this plenty of times with old girlfriends and old hook ups. People always had little things they did with their partner and no one else. This was one of those things, an affectionate gesture Eddie reserved for his girl, and his girl alone. It was also a little show of possession, a not-so-subtle signal that told the entire bar who he staked his claim on.
This was the first time he had ever done it with you though. It made your cheeks flush, and your body feel warm. Your hand trembled slightly as you reached for your own shot, but you quickly got that under control before picking up the glass.
Once the shots of an amber colored liquid had been dispersed, everyone held up their shot glasses.
“To another fantastic show!” Gareth proclaimed.
Everyone cheered in agreement and downed their shots. The cheap whiskey burned your throat and made everyone wrinkle their noses, but you’d all had far worse. Everyone slammed the glasses down on the bar with another cheer once they were done.
“Another!” Jeff cried, and soon the bartender was refilling the shot glasses.
After the second round of shots, you waved off a third in lieu of finishing your beer. It wouldn’t take long for the shots to kick in on top of the beer you’d had prior to them. You hadn’t planned on getting too terribly drunk tonight, for which you were grateful since there was now going to be an awkward conversation later. Although, based on Eddie’s reaction to the kiss, and the fact he nearly had you perched on his thigh, you couldn’t help but wonder exactly how awkward it was truly going to be.
At the moment, Eddie’s hand was resting near your hip, his thumb gently stroking the hemline of your shirt. The butterflies in your stomach flapped upwards into your throat. You took a large swig from your beer to chase them back down.
With his free hand, Eddie dug his pack of cigarettes out of his jacket. He offered you one and you shook your head. While it would help settle your nerves, you were afraid you wouldn’t be able to stop your hands from shaking as you smoked, which Eddie would definitely notice and comment on.
Once he got his cigarette lit, you both were quiet; Eddie smoking and you sipping your beer. His hand slid over so he could trace circles on your stomach. That time you couldn’t stop a small tremble from running through your body. You expected a laugh or for Eddie to poke fun at you, but instead, he froze again. He went completely still behind you, hand frozen on your stomach.
Eddie cleared his throat softly.
“So, um…” he said, a little hesitation in his voice, his thumb starting to move back and forth again. “I gotta ask. Are we just putting on a really good show for Roxie and her friends…”
You should have figured Tom would’ve said something to Eddie as soon as he saw Roxie. Tom hated her as much as the rest of you did, if not more. Of course, he would warn him. Eddie was just playing along to get Roxie to leave him alone. Your heart sank to your feet, and you quickly downed the rest of your beer, feeling silly for getting your hopes up.
Out of curiosity, you glanced around and saw Roxie had returned to her table. Her and her friends were now all glaring at you, as if you were the one that broke Eddie and not her. As much as you wanted to throw a smirk in her direction, you knew you didn’t have anything to be smirking about.
“…or am I actually lucky enough to get to take you home tonight?”
Your breath caught in your throat. It took a second to process what he said. You turned a little so you could look at him.
Normally, when trying to pick up girls at the bar, Eddie had an unshakable confidence about him. His tone and body language always reflected that. While he struck out more often than not, he always approached every situation as if he already had it in the bag.
Right now? Eddie seemed so unsure of himself. There was not a trace of his normal confidence anywhere on his face. As soon as your gaze turned to him, he started to blush and, his eyes dropping down to look at his lap.
“Well,” you said slowly, licking your suddenly dry lips. “I guess that depends…”
Eddie’s gaze shot back up to you. He sat up a little straighter, his face lighting up with a hopeful expression. His grip slightly tightened on you, pulling you a little closer to his chest.
“Whatever it depends on, name it and I’ll do it,” he said, an eager tone to his voice.
Eddie’s face paled suddenly as if he just realized how that sounded. The nervous look came back.
You couldn’t help but grin. This was an entirely new side of Eddie you had honestly never seen before. In all the years you’d known the man, he’d never put his nerves on display in public like this, even his first times performing on stage. And he never, ever let it show to any woman he approached at the bar.
For some reason, you were making Eddie very nervous. But Eddie’s nerves had the side benefit of making your own confidence creep back in.
“Well, it depends on whether you want to take me home with you,” you said with a smile, then tilted your head forward to softly kiss him on the corner of his mouth. “But I certainly wouldn’t mind if you did.”
Eddie’s face went bright red.
Suddenly, he was moving you from between his legs, nudging you away from him. You only had a split second to wonder if you said something wrong before Eddie jumped to his feet behind you, his body very close to yours. He pulled his wallet from his pants and tossed enough cash on the bar to close out his tab.
“You’re heading out already?” Jeff asked, looking at his watch. “It’s barely past ten.”
“Sorry guys,” Eddie said, shoving his wallet back into his pocket. “I just realized…uh…I remembered something very important that suddenly came up.”
The guys looked from Eddie to you and you biting your lip to hold back a grin.
Gareth raised his bottle to you in a toast.
“About time,” he said with a grin of his own before taking a drink.
You grinned back, your face turning red again as Eddie slipped his arm around your shoulders. Everyone said a quick round of goodbyes before, then Eddie began to lead you towards the door. You slipped your arm around his waist as the two of you made your way through the bar. The shots were starting to kick in at the point, giving your body a warm feeling.
Apparently, Eddie was having the same thoughts you were. Halfway to the door, he leaned down to speak softly in your ear.
“Is this really happening?” he asked, his voice filled with excitement. “Like, for real?”
“Yeah,” you said, the realization fully hitting you now and making you feel eve giddier. “Yeah, I guess it is.”
With a sudden feeling of boldness, you let your hand slip from Eddie’s waist down to his ass, which you then gave a firm squeeze.
Eddie jumped in surprise and looked down at you in shock. You winked up at him, smiling. His face flushed deeply, his gaze meeting yours for a moment before he quickly looked at the ground, as if suddenly overwhelmed by shyness. It made you giggle and, feeling a bit shy yourself now, your gaze also dropped to the ground.
Right as you reached the door, a voice calling out made you both stop.
“Eddie! Hey, Eddie, wait!”
You both turned to see Roxie had just caught up with you. As she came to a stop in front of the two of you, she shot a glare at you before turning to Eddie with a sad look on her face. It was one of her better expressions, you had to admit. She made her eyes big and pitiful looking, and her bottom lip was stuck out in a pout.
“Eddie, baby, can we talk for a minute?” Roxie said, her voice tinged with a pleading tone.
“Sorry, Roxie,” Eddie said, shaking his head as he pulled the door open. “Go see Tom if you need something. I gotta get my girl home.”
Without waiting for a response from Roxie, Eddie guided you out the door with his hand on your lower back, then followed close behind.
As soon as you left the building, Eddie’s arm was back around your shoulders. Though, now that you were away from prying eyes, he slowed his pace as you made your way to his van. He dipped his head down at one point, nuzzling his nose in your hair before kissing the side of your head.
While Eddie was getting the passenger door of his van unlocked, you took a glance back towards the bar. Roxie was holding the door open, watching after the two of you with a look of stunned amazement on her face.
Now you couldn’t help but smirk at her as Eddie got the door open and held it open for you.
“Your chariot, m’lady,” he said, bowing with a flourish.
You stepped over to the open passenger door and paused to kiss him on the cheek before climbing in. His face turned bright red, and he cleared his throat a couple of times as he shut the door behind you.
While Eddie ran around the van to the driver’s side, you looked through the window back over at the bar. You could see Roxie standing in the doorway, holding the door ope so she could continue to watch you two leave. Despite the distance, you were perceptive enough to see that her facial expression had morphed from shock into an ugly mask of fury and jealousy.

It's nice to wake up next to Eddie. You haven't quite mastered sharing a bed with him, having started the night with your face in his chest where now he's on his side with your arm draped over his, your hand limp against his naked chest.
You sigh and stretch with an awful clicking sound. The bed creaks with your movements as you hug him properly and drop your face into the nape of his neck. Nose flat to his skin, your breathe in his smell, stroking the stretch of his chest with your hand.
He doesn't rouse. You don't want him to, content to be close to him and steal all of his body heat until he wakes. You're missing your jeans because denims not meant for sleeping but have otherwise retained your clothes. Everything aches and you're cold. Eddie's selfish with the blanket. Still, it's worth it to wake up next to him.
Eddie had called late and whispered down the line. "Hear me out," he'd said sheepishly. "Would you come over? I can't sleep, and I'm so tired it doesn't make sense. I- I miss you."
And while you'd already turned your gaze to the hallway in search of your shoes, you'd messed with him. "I don't know, handsome. It's really late."
"Just to sleep," he'd promised.
So you'd only slept. Eddie had kissed you, sluggish and sloven and slow, his lips leaving warmth over every bit of skin he could reach as you'd laid out on his chest and mumbled about your day, and then he'd fallen asleep and left you to stare at him in the dim light.
He's a pretty sleeper, even the morning after.
You would stare at him for hours but you really need to use the bathroom. You sit up and try not to wake him, groaning as you curl in on yourself. Your back whinges.
You turn this way and that, trying to release the tightness that's latched between your shoulders when suddenly small footsteps sound from the wall adjoining Roan's. Her bedroom door opens, a quiet squeal made loud from the trailer's relative silence. She only has to take a few steps before she's outside Eddie's room.
You pull the sheets over your naked legs just as she pushes the door open.
"Daddy," she says, rubbing her tired eyes with both fists, "can we have breakfast?"
You smooth down your hair uselessly and smile, trying to hide your nerves at having been found here. You're not sure how she's going to react.
Roan drops her hands and blinks at you, slow as a cat.
"I can make you breakfast," you say softly. Trying to earn her favour.
She doesn't react at all, really. She steps around your discarded jeans and grabs the mattress in small hands, trying to pull herself up into the bed with not much success. You help her instinctively, hands under her armpits because you're terrified of hurting her arms. You're expecting her to let you go of you as soon as she's on the bed, but she doesn't. Roan climbs straight into your lap and looks at you.
"You're here," she says hoarsely.
"Yeah, baby." You can't work out her mood.
She starts laughing and huffing, finally exicted to see you. It's a relief — you'd worried she didn't want you here from her lack of reaction.
"I was lonely in my house," you tell her, laughing too.
She nods, and then turns to you in her young wisdom and says, "I get lonely without daddy too."
"You do?"
"'Cos I miss him."
"When do you miss him? When you're at daycare?"
"Yes," she says, the 's' sound dragging. She's still dragging it when she drops her head into your chest, arms curling around your sides. "I miss you but you're here."
It sounds very profound, but she's just lacking the language skills to express herself. Luckily, you know what she means. She misses you but she doesn't have to right now, because you're actually here. Which implies...
"Roan, you miss me when you don't see me?" you ask. You probably shouldn't ask her. You're feeling self-indulgent.
"Yes. Daddy says it's okay."
"It's okay," you second, turning to look at your sleeping boyfriend with wide eyes. This is something they've talked about.
Eddie's not the only Munson who misses you when you're not around.
You wrap your arms around Roan's back and tug her up until her messy curls are tickling your neck. You tame her flyaways with your hand gently, a smile tugging at your lips.
"I miss you when I don't see you, too."
Roan lifts her head. She looks so much like Eddie if Eddie had a lovely pert nose. They both have those puppy brown eyes, pretty pink lips. You try to wipe some of the sleep out of her lashes and she moves away.
"You have a sleepy in your eye," you explain.
"Oh," she says. She giggles and lets herself back into your reach.
Roan let's you scratch the sleep out of the corners of her eyes. You pretend to wipe them in Eddie's back, to her amusement, and then slouch down onto your own back with a sigh. You leave space for her to lay between you and her dad and pat it encouragingly. She ignores you and lies flat on your torso instead.
She yawns wide. You catch it and yawn yourself, turning your face so she can't see your open mouth. Neck bared, Roan takes it as an opportunity to push her head into the gap and nuzzle you with her face.
Your chest starts to feel weird in the best way. Content. You place your hand over her back and trace a line up and down the tiny suggestions of her spine.
"What did you want for breakfast, princess?" you ask quietly.
"Um... maybe waffles with the syrup."
"Yeah? Golden or maple?"
"I don't know," she says, like you're being ridiculous.
"What one does dad usually put on it?"
"Just syrup."
You laugh with your lips pressed together, a hum. Everytime you breathe in one of her flyaways gets sucked toward your face, tickling your nose.
"They make strawberry syrup. Have you tried that?"
Roan yawns again, hot against your neck. "No... Grape syrup?"
"I don't think they make grape syrup. Maybe you can have grape jelly."
She makes a thoughtful sound and then grows silent. Weirdly, you think she weighs more once she falls asleep again, limp and languid over your chest, little hands pressed loosely to your sides. You neaten up her matching pajamas and loll your head to look at Eddie. He doesn't seem like he's going to wake up anytime soon. You've effectively trapped yourself.
You still need to pee.
It's not the worst fate in the world. You let Roan use you as a mattress and think of helpful things, like the Sahara dessert. Eventually, you doze.
Eddie turns onto his back to find his two favourite girls cuddling. It's the worst thing that's ever happened to him because he doesn't have a camera and he's also absurdly jealous. He can imagine how the situation came to pass quite easily; you and Roan adore one another.
Though he's still surprised. After all, it's mid-afternoon. By now Roan would've dragged him out of bed for cereal and the morning cartoons.
He pokes your cheek. You don't look very peaceful, less when you wake.

You move your bleary gaze to him and seem as though you're looking straight through him.
"How'd you get her to sleep in?" he asks. "She never let's me."
"She loves me more," you mumble, deadpan. You scrunch your eyes closed and then force them open, a real struggle that makes him feel very sorry for you, until you say, "Oh my god, I need to pee so badly."
"Pass her over," Eddie says.
You look down at the 'her' in question. "She's the cutest thing ever."
"She'll still be cute in five minutes, swears. I kept expecting her to get less cute, but no such luck."
"Yeah, you're super unlucky."
"Sarcasm," — he kisses your temple — "is the lowest form of wit. Now give me the girl."
You pass her over. Eddie tucks her into his chest and pats her back very carefully to stop her from waking up though she absolutely should be awake by now. The mattress springs whine as you curl onto your side and stand, stretching tall.
He won't lie and say he doesn't watch you leave but when you walk blindly into the doorframe he pretends not to see it, averting his gaze to the sleeping girl in his arms instead.
Your sarcasm might've been well-founded. After all, he feels pretty lucky. It's not everyday you have two pretty girls sleeping in your bed.
She nods, and then turns to you in her young wisdom and says, "I get lonely without daddy too." 😭😭😭😭

Billy and Stu could not be less pleased with your plans for the weekend if they tried. You couldn't be less pleased with theirs. Someone has to budge, and history suggests that it probably isn't going to be you.
‘Are you planning to stop being such a fucking bitch?’ Billy asked as he concentrated on accurately aiming the weed onto his rolling paper. ‘Careful, Billy,’ you retorted, ‘I’ll kick your seat. Then it’s all over.’
Stu took a hit from his joint, smiling as he exhaled out the window. ‘You guys are like an old married couple.’ ‘Thanks, Stu.’ Your overenthusiastic tone combined with a tight grimace. ‘You wouldn’t be having this problem if you just brought the bong. Like I suggested,’ Stu commented.
‘I don’t know if I’d call what you said a suggestion,’ Billy replied. ‘Stu, are you being mean to Billy again?’ ‘Of course not.’ He turned around, fully engaging in the conversation. ‘All I did was call him a stupid fucking pussy for not wanting to bring it.’ Billy elbowed Stu’s shoulder as the taller man laughed.
‘Not all of us can smuggle whatever we want in and out of our houses,’ Billy explained. ‘Yes, you can. All you have to do is stop being such a fucking coward, man.’ ‘It’s a lot easier to hide these fucking papers than your supersized bong. I don’t need another fucking police incident.’ Stu snorted. ‘You’re with a Macher. You don’t need to worry about police interference. What you do need to do is loosen up and live a little.’
Billy sharply inhaled, drawing his retort back inside himself. He rolled his eyes, his clear signal that he was over being at the other end of Stu’s bullshit. ‘Y/N, baby, do you want some?’ He raised the joint above his head, waving it around.
‘Yeah, I’d love some.’ He swivelled around, awkwardly leaning his torso over the console. He placed the joint between your lips. ‘Who has the lighter?’ Stu handed it to Billy. You went to grab it, but Billy shook his head. ‘Take your jacket off.’ Stu’s eyes darted up to the rearview mirror as soon as he heard Billy’s instruction. ‘It’s too nice. Don’t want you to get anything on it.’
Stu could have whined once he realised the pure intentions behind Billy’s command. ‘Your shirt’s nice too, Y/N. And your bra.’ You and Billy chose to ignore Stu’s desperate attempt to get you in increasing states of undress. Stu huffed, slumping into his seat.
Billy smiled as he lit your joint. ‘When’d you become such a romantic?’ Stu asked. ‘You never offer to light mine.’ ‘You’re more than capable.’ Billy’s tone was extremely blunt. ‘And Y/N isn’t? You gonna take that, baby?’
Billy was too annoyed to look in Stu’s direction. You didn’t reply, lowering your gaze in an attempt to not aggravate Stu any further. What you did in response didn’t matter. Stu’s feelings were all about himself, you and Billy were just puppets he could project them onto.
‘Do you remember like two months ago when we were smoking at my house and you started fucking crying, babe?’ Stu questioned. ‘You put Nightmare on Elm Street on. You know that movie sets me off. I get nightmares even when I’m not high,’ you responded. ‘Oh, you were freaking out before we put that on. You were convinced that there was someone else in this house. Some kind of psycho killer.’
You had started to draw into yourself. ‘I thought I heard footsteps.’ ‘Stu, don’t. She’s already high, you’re just going to freak her out,’ Billy reprimanded. ‘What am I going to freak out about? Was there actually a killer in the house? Oh my fucking god.’ Stu was poorly trying to stifle his laughter.
‘No, babe, it wasn’t that. Do you remember where Billy was that night?’ ‘He was with us. He brought the chips over and got me the tissues–’ ‘I got you the fucking tissues.’ You almost got whiplash from how quickly Stu’s voice grew serious, and how it returned the other way almost instantly. ‘He was with us after he brought the movie over. Before that, I got him to–’ Stu’s story was cut off by his hysterical laughter.
‘Stu, c’mon. Not now.’ Billy was beginning to fidget. ‘I got him to crawl into the fucking ceiling to freak you out. All that scuttering and shit, that was him.’ Stu wiped tears from your eyes as you and Billy both stiffened.
‘Why the fuck would you do that, Billy? You know I freak the fuck out already.’ ‘I don’t know. I’m sorry.’ ‘And why the fuck would you tell him to do that?’ ‘Cause it was funny,’ Stu answered as he continued cackling. Billy was staring out the window. ‘Oh, stop being such a fucking bitch, Billy. You were pretty much pissing yourself it was so funny.’
‘Fuck both of you,’ you insulted. ‘Really? That’s all I want.’ Stu crawled into the backseat, disregarding the comfort of everyone else in the car. He clumsily dropped himself beside you. ‘Hey, what was that?’ He frowned as you shifted away from him, just as his hands were travelling towards your chest.
You pulled the middle seat down. ‘Oh, what the fuck? You’ve been holding out on us, Stuart.’ ‘Nuh-uh-uh. They’re not for you.’ He put it back up, hiding the treasure trove that sat in his boot. ‘Well, you’re not getting through all that yourself.’ ‘I don’t know, have you seen me? I could try.’
Somehow Billy grew more awkward than he already was. ‘Seriously, what’s it for? Did I forget to pencil something into my calendar or what?’ ‘Football team’s having a party at mine this weekend.’ Stu wasn’t boasting about his plans for the “greatest party of the millennium” so you knew something was up.
‘I don’t even think the football team’s going through all that.’ ‘Some of their girlfriends are coming along,’ Billy mentioned. Stu’s annoyed expression reflected the one which Billy had just been sporting. ‘How do you know? Are you going as Stu’s girlfriend?’ ‘No. He’s our honorary mascot,’ Stu declared.
‘Can I go?’ Billy and Stu both struggled to make eye contact with you. You sighed. ‘Sid and Tatum got in before me, didn’t they?’ ‘We’re sorry, Y/N/N. We’ll make it up to you. Promise.’ Billy raised the back of your hand to his lips.
‘I just don’t get why it has to be like this,’ you muttered. ‘Sid’s going through a lot, with her mum and all. She’s going through more than any of us have before.’ Billy’s eyes found Stu’s for a split second, warning him to shut his mouth and not call bullshit. ‘A break up isn't what she needs right now. We’re all there for her. And this would hurt our group. We can’t do anything when she needs all the support she can get.’
‘Alright,’ you sighed. Her having a dead mum trumped your jealousy card immediately. ‘What about Tatum?’ Stu blinked for a few moments, knowing he wouldn’t be able to come up with an excuse nearly as convincing as Billy’s. ‘If Tatum knew I dumped her for you, she’d fucking kill you. I don’t think her being out for blood would strengthen our bond.’
You hummed in dejected understanding. ‘Hey, wait, I have an idea. Brad asked me if I wanted to hang out the other day. I could go as his plus one. It’d get Sid and Tatum off our backs.’
‘Brad? Do you mean Brad fucking Cromwell?’ ‘Yeah.’ Stu snorted. ‘You’re seriously entertaining the thought of a footballer named Brad. Surely you can’t be this fucking stupid.’ ‘He’s nice. I don’t get why you’re being so weird about it.’
‘Brad yells a lot. You’re too sensitive. You wouldn’t be able to handle it,’ Billy coldly stated. ‘I appreciate being caught up to speed, Billy. Is there anything else you think I need to know? Does he have a criminal record? Or has his dad wiped his clean too?’ You side-eyed Stu.
Billy ignored your questions. ‘Have you and him done anything yet?’ ‘We were going to get ice cream this weekend.’ Stu pinched your cheek. ‘Ice cream. You’re so cute. He doesn’t give a fuck about that. He wants to know whether he’s fucked you.’
‘Stu, what’s your body count?’ ‘I don’t know. I’ve lost count.’ ‘Why does mine matter if you can fuck whoever you want without a second thought?’ ‘So you've fucked him,’ Billy assumed. ‘No, I didn’t fuck him. I haven’t even fucking kissed him. But if I’d done any of that, what would it matter? I don’t see you guys as any less for who you’ve fucked.'
Stu laughed. ‘Thanks, Y/N/N. I was feeling like you’d judge me for it, but I can go about my day with confidence now.’ You crossed your arms, curling yourself into a ball. ‘I just don’t get it. You two get to do whatever with Sid and Tatum. I just don’t get why there’s a difference.’
Billy rolled his eyes. ‘Don’t play dumb. You know exactly why there’s a difference.’ ‘Why are you so upset over this shithead?’ Stu asked. ‘I don’t give a fuck about Brad,’ you exclaimed in frustration.
‘Then don’t go on a date with him this weekend. Sorted. Everyone happy now?’ ‘Now you’re playing stupid, Billy. You know what I fucking meant. This isn’t about Brad. This is about you two getting to do whatever the hell you want, and I can’t step a toe out of line.’
‘Gee, if we knew you were going to get this upset about not getting any dick this weekend, maybe we would’ve changed our plans.’ You looked at Stu in disgust. ‘We could probably sneak off from the party for, what, thirty minutes? What do you say, Billy?’
‘I think Y/N’s got to learn that she isn’t always going to get her way. I mean this is one weekend babe. One weekend. Sid’s been real shaken up lately. This is for her.’ If you weren’t so deep in their web of bullshit, you would have tried to find a way out of this conversation. Maybe you would’ve defended yourself a bit more. But no, you did the worst possible thing you could have. You let the boys know how much their attention (and lack of) mattered to you.
‘What about the night before?’ Billy and Stu gave each other a look, and you couldn't decipher what it meant. ‘We’re busy,’ Billy answered before Stu could get a word in. ‘Bullshit.’ You traced the cracked leather of the car seat with your knuckle. ‘If you’re busy all weekend, I’m seeing Brad.’
‘Aw, baby.’ Stu tried to cradle your jaw, but you dodged his touch. ‘You’re hot when you’re jealous.’ Billy took a deep breath. ‘Fine. But if you do, we’ll fucking murder him.’ Stu sported a sudden manic grin. He quickly dialled it down, however a smirk still remained. ‘You’re fucking crazy,’ you attacked. ‘If you’re fucking around with the girls, I’m seeing him. And that’s final.’
‘Feisty,’ Stu commented with his eyes almost swirling. Billy refused to turn his head towards the backseat. His body had tensed up, and he was still breathing deeply. Billy rolled his window down, taking a hit from the previously forgotten joint. Seeing out the window clearly made you question your safety. Stu had driven you to the middle of nowhere. Now Billy couldn’t look at you, and Stu couldn’t stop eyeing you like you were prey.
‘Can you drive me home?’ Billy huffed. ‘I think that’s for the best.’
Despite the night’s tensions, Billy was still adamant that he walked you to your door. He had to play the role of supportive boyfriend in some capacity (even though you were pretty sure all of that performance’s energy was saved for Sidney), and he needed to have some words with you without Stu obnoxiously interrupting.
When you were behind a column, Billy held your wrist. ‘You were a real piece of work tonight.’ Your lips curled. ‘Fuck you.’ Your anger spilled over into tears. Your cheeks grew hot at this, though your shame only worked to intensify your emotions.
Billy’s eyes widened. His grip around your wrist loosened, and both of his hands found yours. ‘Hey, I’m sorry.’ His monotone voice had gotten a slight edge of softness. ‘I know it’s hard. It’s hard for me too. It’s hard for Stu.’ You threw your arms around him, sobbing into his shoulder.
‘It’s hard for Sid. It’s hard for Tatum. We’ll all get through this. But we’ve got to work together, okay? All of us.’
‘What the fuck is taking you so long? If I don’t watch the new Pam Anderson tonight, I have to return it,’ Stu stated. ‘Since when did you care about a fine?’ Billy asked. ‘Since Randy made a bet to see if I could go a month without racking any up.’ ‘Peer pressured into following the rules. That’s a new one. What do you win?’
A sob cut them off. Stu’s brows drew together. ‘Y/N baby, what’s wrong? You can’t miss me this much already. I know you would’ve preferred me walking you in, but–’ ‘Stu, shut the fuck up.’ ‘Okay man, I’m sorry. Christ.’
‘Just never feel like I’m good enough for you guys.’ Billy frowned. ‘You’re more than enough for us. I’m sorry tonight’s been rough. We love you.’ ‘You’re more than fucking Brad deserves, anyway.’
‘Stu,’ Billy began, ‘go back to the car.’ ‘Billy,’ Stu copied, ‘get fucked. I brought our favourite girl a parting present.’ He presented you with a joint and a single can of beer. ‘Thanks, Stu,’ you softly spoke with a weak smile.
Stu started to walk back towards the car. As his clunky steps grew more faint, Billy leaned down to your ear. ‘Don’t come on Saturday, okay?’ You looked up at him sadly, and nodded after a moment. ‘We’ll make it up to you.’ He kissed your forehead, turning to follow Stu.
‘Did we actually have plans on Friday night or what?’ Stu asked as he drove Billy towards the Loomis residence. ‘Now we do. Do you know where this dickhead lives?’
