I think the more I see of poppy playtime twitter the more annoyed I get.
So there was some interview apparently with zach and seth Belanger about poppy playtime. In refrence to a first spark idea in their childhood bedroom (As stated by Fantime Horror on twitter).
The account made a post and deleted it, then reposted that the phrasing they chose was misleading, and gave the wrong impression of over looking directors and many people who were involved in the making of poppy playtime. In the tweet they mention about being non-native English speakers and mistakes can be made in translation, leading to misunderstandings.
They apologised after this for anyone who felt hurt or dismissed by the earlier post. Mainly issac Christopherson. They also mentioned his account to clarify the situation.
They handed it well, admiting to their mistakes and apologising for it. Leading other to look into issacs perspective aswell.
The original post i have not actually seen, all i have seen is the response from issac.
The one I have seen (their might be more) seems to be in response to the now deleted post. Stating that the narrative seems inaccurate and kind of hurtful from issacs perspective. Which is fair, to feel as if your being left out of it is a reasonable response.
He stated that "It feels like we who have left have been erased as being co creators of this series" i dont think that he is entirely wrong from this perspective, he himself calling the people co-creators instead of a sole creator like which has been happening for a while now since chapter 5 came out, with statements of issac being the 'original creator'. He is stating that there are multiple creators that are the reason for poppy playtime. Which if anyone decided to read the credits would know.
I also think its a little harsh at time. Not his statement in particular, I think he actually handled it well, in this instance. But the reaction from others about it, other meaning fans of the franchise. People have begun to take issacs words as pure facts, which for past game chapters? 1,2&3? Sure okay, most of what he can say about them can be true. However his statements on other parts like 4 & 5 are less likely to be true. He himself had said in twitter that ideas have changed form when he was working on it.
Most peoples reposnses on twitter were in regards to credits, most likely in relation to the interview. However each and every (as far as I am aware) person who has worked on poppy playtime is credited. Maybe not in an interview but within the games. I have never seen mob entertainment or anyone else who still works on poppy playtime say anything bad about anyone who does or doesn't work as apart of it anymore. (This could be wrong, twitter enrages me enough, I dont need more time on there)
I cant say that issac Christopherson has been exactly 'nice'in all the things he's said about poppy playtime as of late. There have been some comments from him thay seem a little condescending? Or maybe a little judgmental. Nothing exactly outright, just here and there comments on the current chapters stories. He has said other ideas for what the chapter COULD have been like, but he has also stated that he doesn't think they should have done this and that. Which in most instances is fine, but still feels off now that he mentions this interview.
To be feeling like they were being put dont, as former members of the team, while he is kinds of doing that to members of the current team. Its not entirely a big thing as of yet, but it does feel like something that needs to be atleast somewhat mentioned.
Personally, its twitter. People take things too far. I think on this end there was faults on both parts. But most of the fault does however come from the reactions of people in the fandom. Its not the first time its been done, and its not the first indie franchise to have things like this happen with.
There is just a point of people needing to be respectful, which at the moment from the fandom isn't happening for the most part. Until Mob Entertainment confirm anything, just keep it as head cannons or possible ideas and theories. There really is no point in people arguing about it, there is a chance that we will never know the right or wrong thing about one thing or another. Overreacting helps absolutely fucking no one!
Its my cue to stay away from twitter, but I still end up seeing it. I wont stay away from the amazing art I see though, I refuse to do that!
(Also this isn't hate again to anyone. Just mentioned things that I haven't seen talked about or that I have already mentioned)
