CHRISTMAS BLUES | "Christmas Christmas Blues" by Charley Jordan - Blues Guitar Legend.
ONES TO WATCH | Mt. Wolf
"Mt. Wolf are a new four piece folk/electronic band based in London that are gathering huge attention from all quarters.
Although currently city dwellers, each of the members grew up by the sea — lead singer Kate Sproule and guitarist Stevie McMinn are from Guernsey while producer and electric guitarist Sebastian ‘Bassy’ Fox is from Dorset and drummer Alex Mitchell from Brighton. This shared experience of living near the coast places a profound influence on how they make music, shaping the landscape for their dark and hypnotic but beautiful world.
Describing their sound as ‘Dreamfolk’, a cinematic fusion of both Folk and Electronica, the band mix a unique hybrid of strings and instrumentation with heart-melting harmonies and contemporary electronic and bass influenced sounds, drawing on influences like The XX, Little Dragon, SBTRKT, Bon Iver and Youth Lagoon, whilst easily standing out from the current female-vocal-led alternative/ electronic scene.
Singer/songwriter and classically trained violinist Sproule has already been compared to both Bjork, Elizabeth Fraser and Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine, with a voice that captures the attention of the most restless of audiences.
Mt. Wolf also run their own club night in London called Wolf Club. A night that mixes exciting live music with top DJ’s and gives the band the opportunity to promote other musicians they enjoy from a wide selection of genres."
After an incredible summer of touring festivals around the world and supporting everyone from James Blake and Little Dragon at ‘Symbiosis Gathering’ in the Nevada desert to running their successful London night ‘Wolf Club’, they are ready to continue that praise with their superb debut EP Life Size Ghosts (listen below - and check out as Mt. Wolf pass through Beatnik Sessions and perform for the first time an acoustic, heart-stopping version of their single 'Life Size Ghosts'); Set to drop on limited 12″ vinyl 30th October and digitally 5th November via Two Sisters Records.
Mt. Wolf have also teamed up with Soundcrash for their EP launch party at Corsica Studios.

ONES TO WATCH | Chet Faker
So if you haven't heard of this dude yet, you should, and probably will, at some point in time. Chat Faker (aka Nick Murphy) is a producer/musician hailing from Melbourne Australia, who for a while now has been quietly creating one gem after another.
Tagging some of the music on his Soundcloud page simply as: 'beat' / 'sex' / 'sleep', we wouldn't even know where to start and describe his sounds to you, all we can say is it's somewhere between electronica and house with brilliant soul-like vocals, a sick beat (always a sick beat), warm keys and doted electronic textures for a laid back super cool flow to it all.
Chet Faker's debut, seven-song EP, Thinking in Textures drops Monday, March 26 via Chess Club Records. You can check out two of the tracks from the EP below, as well as his brilliant cover of the '90s cult hit "No Diggity" by Blackstreet and Dr Dre.
Stream "No Diggity", "I'm Into You" and watch the official video for "Terms and Conditions" (directed by Josh McKie and edited by Isabella Giovinazzo.) below:
