I’ve been working on a new single piece fly construction method. I’m not sure if it is correct but it works pretty well for me! Here is how to do it: 1: Press SA on fly guard back (1cm) and press in half (pic 1) 2: Button hole the fly facing. 3: You want the SA in the front rise to be like this (pic 2) 4: Press the SA back on the left rise and stitch the opening (pic 3 & 4) 5: Topstitch the right rise (opening) to one layer of the fly guard with 5mm SA 5mm from the fold line on the guard (pic 5) 6: Stitch down the selvedge to close the fly guard/facing (pic 6) 8: Press the opening flat & top stitch the fly guard into place (pic 7) 9: Stitch the fly facing down. Do this in one smooth run from top to bottom & back up (pic 8) 10: Top stitch the SA’s of the rise together to stabilise them (pic 9) 11: Fold the rise into position & top stitch (pic 10) 12: Bar tack It’s quite hard to explain through pictures and text alone so I’ll try to do a video at some point. Finally got myself some labels. The reason behind the name Field Denim is where the project was started. The area I live and where all is kicked off is the weavers fields area of East London. Named so because of the French hugonaught silk weavers that moved there in the 1700's. I was calling it Weavers Fields Denim but decided that was a bit of a mouthful so we have 'Field Denim'.

Been a while since I posted on here but I thought I'd put up the entire machine collection. From top left to bottom we have: -Union special 43200G hemming machine -Union special 51800 waistband machine -Union special 11900 twin needle coverstitch with beltloop folder -Reece 101 keyhole chainstitch button hole machine -Toyota DT6 feed off the arm triple chainstitch machine -Wimsew W111 lockstitch machine -Durkopp Adler 28 stitch bartack machine -Union special 56900 triple chainstitch flatbed with lapseam folder -Foot press machine. Other than my iron, that's pretty much my studio, enjoy!
